Rzeczpospolita holds the ground
In August Rzeczpospolita remained a leader in the ranking of the most opinion-forming media
elaborated by Instytut Monitorowania Mediów. Similarly to last month Gazeta Wyborcza, May and
June winner, placed the second. PR 3 PR performed the best of all radio stations outdoing PR 1 PR
and Radio ZET. None of TV station qualified to the first fifteen.
August report was based on 5058 media pieces which authors quoted the information released by other
media as many as 5231 times. Rzeczpospolita news had the highest rate of reference, i.e. 1129 (Chart 1)
outdoing Gazeta Wyborcza by 51 quotations. Życie Warszawy took the last month’s third place. Trybuna
edged up from sixth to Gazeta Prawna last month’s fourth place. Rzeczpospolita also won in a ranking of the
most often quoted media apart from press reviews.

Press, especially nationwide journals and weeklies, followed to be peerless in terms of quotation’s record.
The other media placed only on twelfth place in general ranking: PR 3 PR, which outdoes the most popular
website Onet.pl. The first fifteen of the most opinion-forming media also contains PR 1 PR and Radio ZET
while none of TV station qualified.

TNV24 news was referred to the most often of all TV stations. In a category of the most popular radio
stations, PR 3 PR took the first place recording 91 quotations. Radio ZET advanced in the ranking of radio
stations from July’s fifth to the third place (Chart 2). PR 1 PR ranked the second.

Nationwide media were quoted the most frequently – 4463 while local registered 768 quotations. August
brought the most local media quotations from Mazowiecki Province where Zycie Warszawy remains
unquestionable leader. Great majority of them consists of the news from press reviews with social issues
arriving as the second. Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz’s financial disclosure was the most popular topic. Media
also focused on PZPN scandal as well as parliamentary and presidential elections.
TVN24 placed first of media quoting the news released by other mass media the most frequently followed by
daily Super Nowości.
Wprost was August’s most often quoted nationwide weekly, which regained leadership leaving behind
Polityka and Newsweek. The first place of all tabloids went to Fakt and the second to Super Express.
Each month, Instytut Monitorowania Mediów analyses all press, TV and radio media pieces where the
authors refer to the news spread by other media. The research covers nearly 500 newspapers, 6 TV stations
and selected broadcasts of 5 radio stations.
