Missionary Cooperation Plan in the Diocese
of Rockville Centre for the year 2014
Rev. Robert Mathieu, from the Diocese of Gallup will be
speaking at our Masses, on July 12th & 13th supplying us
with information on ways that we might help to further
the mission works in his Diocese. The Diocese of Gallup
encompasses over 55,000 square miles and serves 61,990
Catholics - this makes it one of our Nation’s largest and
poorest diocese. Covering the entire Navajo Nation, the
Diocese of Gallup is spread across two states: Arizona and
New Mexico.
OUTREACH PROGRAM
With the onset of hot weather, we are asking you to supply
us with liquids. Although we will take anything you choose
to give, we ask that you consider vitamin waters. So many
of our clients rely on their feet to get wherever they are
going. As a result, they feel the heat and need to replenish
their electrolytes and there are several liquids available that
contain them. Our homeless are especially vulnerable to
heat stroke/exhaustion and we ask that you think of them
when you are out shopping. Thank you from all of us at the
Outreach.

PETER’S PENCE
Next week our diocese will take up the Peter’s Pence
Collection, which provides the Holy Father with the
funds he needs to carry out this most important charitable works. The proceeds benefit the most disavantaged: victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters.

Just a little history of the beginning of our wonderful Parish that some of you may or may not remember….
The Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption was established on June 15, 1929 by the Most Reverend Thomas E.
Molloy. Ground was broken for the “Basement” Chapel on October 14, 1929 on land donated by Mr. John Campagnoli, a real estate agent with offices in Manhattan and Copiague. His ads in the newspaper said that Copiague
was “an Italian village, close to the sea with jobs, water, gas, a school and the railroad.” It was Mr. Campagnoli
who invited Guglielmo Marconi to visit Copiague, then Marconiville, in 1917.
Father Del Vecchio supervised the buildings as we know them today. He wrote to Monsignor James H. Griffiths
in Brooklyn, New York on June 30, 1942 to tell him about Copiague. The Monsignor had agreed to come to preach
at the Dedication ceremony on July 5, 1942.
The dedication of a church is a very much celebrated time for Catholic Churches around the world. Please join
your fellow parishioners on Saturday, July 5th in the Church at 8:00am. Refreshments will be served immediately
after the Mass in the Lower Church Hall.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION REGISTRATION
Registration for the 2014-2015 school year will begin on Tuesday, August 12th and extend through Tuesday,
September 23rd. It will be held at the Religious Ed offices on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The tuition fee for the school year 2014-2015 will be the same as last year. However, we are adding a preparation
fee of $50 for First Holy Communion. We already have a preparation fee for Confirmation. These fees help defray
the costs of certificates, photography, retreat, confirmation gown etc. These payments They must be paid at the
same time as the tuition fee.

can make a copy for our records. This is necessary even if your child was baptized at OLA. (If your child has never baptized, please
bring the Birth Certificate) If your child has already received First Communion, please bring the First Communion Certificate (or
other documentation) showing this.

W przyszłą niedzielę 29 czerwca w naszej Diecezji przeprowadzona zostanie druga kolekta– Na Dzieła Ojca Świętego (Peter’s Pence Collection). Dochód z niej pomoże
Ojcu Świętemu w niesieniu pomocy najbardziej poszkodowanym ofiarom opresji wojen oraz klęsk żywiołowych.

KURS BEZPIECZNEJ JAZDY SAMOCHODEM
Kurs odbędzie się w naszej Parafii Matki Bożej Wniebowziętej
w sobotę 28 czerwca, w godz: 8:30-15:00, w sali pod kościołem.
Koszt kursu wynosi $45. Prosimy o wypisywanie czeków na
naszą parafię -OLA. Zapisy w kancelarii parafialnej.

ZAPISY NA RELIGIĘ NA R. SZK. 2014-15
Zapisy rozpoczną się we wtorek 12 sierpnia i trwać będą do
wtorku 23 września. Zapisy prowadzone będą w biurze
Centrum Edukacji Religijnej we wtorki, środy i czwartki w
następujących godzinach:
wtorek: 14:00-19:00,
środa: 14:00-17:00,
czwartek: 14:00-17:00.
Opłaty za naukę religii będą takie same jak w roku ubiegłym
z tą różnicą, że wprowadzone będą zmiany w opłatach związanych z przygotowaniem do 1szej komunii św. i bierzmowania.
Opłatę związaną z przygotowaniem do sakramentów
Pierwszej Komunii Świętej i Bierzmowania należy uiścić
wraz z opłatą za cały rok nauki.
Wysokość opłat:
- za 1 dziecko: $ 120
- za dwoje lub wiecej dzieci: $ 150
- Pierwsza Komunia Święta: $50 (tj. opłata za
fotografa i materiały przygotowawcze)
- Bierzmowanie: $85 (opłata za materiały,
rekolekcje, strój na uroczystość)
UWAGA: Rodzice uczniów rozpoczynających naukę w
klasach VII, VIII oraz Prep 6 muszą w trakcie dokonywania zapisów spotkać się z dyrektorem Programu Edukacji Religijnej, aby otrzymać listę wymagań dotyczących
Sakramentu Bierzmowania i potrzebne informacje.
ZAPISY NOWYCH UCZNIÓW
Dzieci zapisywane na katechezę po raz pierwszy
muszą mieć ukończone co najmniej 6 lat.
** Prosimy o przyniesienie ze sobą METRYKI CHRZTU DZIECKA,
nawet jeśli dziecko było ochrzczone w naszej parafii. Jeśli dziecko
nie było jeszcze ochrzczone, prosimy o przyniesienie Aktu
Urodzenia.
** Jeżeli dziecko już przystąpiło do Pierwszej Komunii Św., prosimy
o przyniesienie odpowiedniego świadectwa.
W przypadku jakichkolwiek pytań prosimy telefonować do

THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever . . .”
Every human person faces the fear of death. Yet, we
have the above words of Jesus.
So here is the solution to this fear: As our faith in Jesus
and his words increases, our fear of death decreases. A
scientist or mathematician would call this an inverse
relationship – as one increases, the other decreases.
So what is holding us back from destroying our fear of
death? Why do we not put our whole minds and hearts into
this task?
During the past year, our parish has begun offering us
the opportunity of Eucharistic Adoration every Wednesday
evening. Each week there are many people present seeking
to know Jesus better. But why isn’t the Church filled to
overflowing?
Today, after the 1:00 PM Mass, there will be a
Eucharistic procession around the parish grounds. The
sacramental presence of Jesus will be carried through the
streets of Copiague just as truly as Jesus once walked the
roads of Galilee. Will he find you there?
Whoever eats this bread, will LIVE FOREVER!
