MASSES FOR THE WEEK
GOD’S WORK
We are so busy! Most of us have more than one job
SATURDAY, August 1,

us are more than one thing at a time. But which of
SUNDAY, August 2,

that we have to be ministers or priests, missionaries

that God leads us to do what is needed, where it is

needed. What is “God’s work?” “This is the work of
God, that you believe in the one he sent” (John 6:29).

If you would like to donate flowers
in memory of a loved one, the
donation is $75.00 for a basket of
flowers. The intention for the
flowers will be put in the bulletin
and announced during the weekend
Masses. Please contact the office if you would like to
donate flowers for the intention of a loved one.
THE PARISH ORGAN
The organ in the church is over 30 years old and is in
disrepair. It is no longer cost effective to have the
organ repaired. We are in the process of looking for a
second hand pipe organ that is in good condition. In
the future, I would like to start a campaign to raise
money to purchase a second hand organ from a church
that is closing.

victims who are suffering who are so often the targets of violence
and murder. A special collection will be taken up in our parish this
weekend to assist those who are suffering religious persecution in
Syria and Iraq and wherever needed. Please continue to pray for
peace and if you are able, to support this special collection to
assist for our brothers and sisters in Christ.
14 stycznia rano Papież Franciszek
przewodniczył w nadmorskim parku
Galle Face Green w Kolombo Mszy
św., podczas której kanonizował bł.
Józefa Vaza — żyjącego na
przełomie XVII i XVIII w.
oratorianina
—
nazywanego
Apostołem Cejlonu. Na zakończenie
uroczystości, w której uczestniczyło
kilkaset
tysięcy
wiernych,
metropolita
Kolombo
i
przewodniczący
Konferencji
Episkopatu Sri Lanki kard. Albert
Malcolm Ranjith Patabendige Don
podziękował Ojcu Świętemu za
przybycie i dar pierwszego świętego
Sri Lanki oraz przekazał mu w
imieniu wiernych 70 tys. dolarów na
cele charytatywne. Podczas Mszy
św. Papież wygłosił następującą
homilię:
«Wszystkie krańce ziemi zobaczą
zbawienie naszego Boga» (Iz 52, 10).
To jest wspaniałe proroctwo, które usłyszeliśmy
w dzisiejszym pierwszym czytaniu. Izajasz
zapowiada głoszenie Ewangelii Jezusa Chrystusa aż
po krańce ziemi. Proroctwo to ma szczególne
znaczenie dla nas, świętujących kanonizację
wielkiego misjonarza Ewangelii, św. Józefa Vaza.
Podobnie jak inni, niezliczeni misjonarze w historii
Kościoła,
odpowiedział
on
na
polecenie
zmartwychwstałego Pana, aby nauczać wszystkie
narody (por. Mt 28, 19). Swoimi słowami, a
zwłaszcza przez przykład swego życia prowadził on
ludzi tego kraju do wiary, która daje nam
«dziedzictwo ze wszystkimi świętymi» (Dz 20, 32).
W św. Józefie widzimy wymowny znak dobroci i
miłości Boga dla mieszkańców Sri Lanki. Ale jest
on też dla nas zachętą, aby wytrwać na drodze
Ewangelii, abyśmy wzrastali w świętości i dawali
świadectwo ewangelicznemu orędziu pojednania,
któremu on poświęcił swoje życie.
Pochodzący z Goa kapłan, oratorianin, św. Józef
Vaz przybył do tego kraju inspirowany zapałem
misyjnym i wielką miłością do jego mieszkańców. Z
powodu istniejących prześladowań religijnych,
ubrany jak żebrak, wypełniał swoje obowiązki
kapłańskie na tajnych spotkaniach z wiernymi,
często w nocy. Jego starania dawały siłę duchową i
moralną szykanowanej ludności katolickiej. Cdn.
