Our sacrificial giving made in gratitude to the Lord for
His sacrifice for us.
Family Connection
The workers in this parable sound very much like
squabbling children, comparing what they have each
been given and making complaints to the parent.
Among children there is a tendency to equate love
with gifts and material things. This tendency can
devolve into a spirit of entitlement, which runs
counter to the spirit of gratitude. Any effort we make
to overcome this tendency, to keep love from being
entwined with gifts and possessions, will enable our
children to accept completely the love that God gives
freely and generously.
SEEK THE LORD
In today’s opening reading, Isaiah urges us to “seek
the LORD” who is “near” and can be “found”. Then
Isaiah says God’s ways are as high above our ways
“as the heavens are above the earth”. So we search,
not because God is hiding, but because our tendencies
are so different from God’s ways that we get lost.
How are God’s ways so high above our ways? The
example Isaiah gives is that God’s way is to be
“generous in forgiving”. And our way? We try to be
“fair.” You hurt me, so then I hurt you back, just as
hard. Then, of course, you . And on it goes. In
today’s Gospel Jesus teaches that God is not “fair”
like that. Instead, God is so generous we can hardly
understand it. The same wage for one hour as for a
whole day of work? Not fair! “Seek the Lord,” and
we might find a God who calls us to be, not fair, but

generous beyond expectations.

Today is the special collection for retired priests living
at St. Pius X Enriched Living Facility. This is where
our beloved Father Joe resides. The Pius X Enriched
Living Facility enables our senior priests who need
extra care and attention to be cared for in a setting that
fosters their spiritual lives, nurtures their physical well
being and guarantees that they can continue to live
with dignity while accessing a wide array of social and
spiritual opportunities. Please support this extraordinary facility, and the men who are living there, by

Sakrament namaszczenia chorych (c.d.)
Sobór Watykański II uczy: „»Ostatnie
namaszczenie«, które także, i to lepiej, można
nazwać »namaszczeniem chorych«, nie jest
sakramentem przeznaczonym tylko dla tych,
którzy
znajdują
się
w
ostatecznym
niebezpieczeństwie utraty życia.
Liturgia tego sakramentu ma obecnie
różne formy celebracji: zwykły obrzęd udzielania
sakramentu chorych, udzielanie go w czasie
Mszy św., w wielkim zgromadzeniu oraz w
niebezpieczeństwie śmierci. Zwykły obrzęd
stosowany jest wtedy, kiedy chory wcześniej
wyspowiadał się i przyjął Komunię św., a składa
się z czterech części, którymi są: obrzęd
wstępny, czytanie Słowa Bożego, liturgia
sakramentu i zakończenie obrzędu. Obrzęd
wstępny obejmuje pozdrowienie obecnych,
pokropienie chorego i mieszkania wodą
święconą, słowo wprowadzające celebransa lub
modlitwę wstępną oraz akt pokuty. Krótka liturgia
słowa to czytanie fragmentu Pisma Świętego i
jego krótkie wyjaśnienie.
Choroba jest takim doświadczeniem dla
człowieka, w którym potrzebuje on szczególnej
Bożej pomocy. Udziela jej Bóg przez sakrament
chorych. Pierwszą łaską tego sakramentu jest
umocnienie, pokój i odwaga, by przezwyciężyć
trudności związane ze stanem ciężkiej choroby
lub starości. Łaska sakramentu pomaga
choremu pokonać pokusę zniechęcenia i trwogę
przed śmiercią (por. Hbr 2,15). Darem Boga jest
uzdrowienie duszy, a czasem także ciała, jeśli
taka jest wola Boża (por. Sobór Florencki: DS
1325). Przez sakrament chorych chrześcijanin
otrzymuje dar głębszego zjednoczenia z męką
Chrystusa dla własnego dobra i dla dobra całego
Kościoła. Sakrament ten przygotowuje go
również do przejścia do domu Ojca (por. Sobór
Trydencki: DS 1694).
