Along with short days and early nights, we are approaching the end

“MAY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ENCOURAGE YOUR HEARTS AND STRENGTHEN THEM IN EVERY GOOD WORD AND DEED.” Along with short days and early nights, we are approaching the end of the Church’s liturgical year, which will come to a culmination on the Feast of Jesus Our Lord Christ, King of the Universe, celebrated this year on November 25th. During the past twelve months we have experienced in faith the entire cycle of our Salvation History. During Advent we joined the prophets in longing for the coming of the Messiah. On Christmas we celebrated the Incarnation – God becoming man as the Child of Bethlehem. We saw the child grow in age and grace until, as a man, he prepared for the sacrificial offering of himself on Calvary. We were witnesses to Jesus’ Glorious Resurrection on Easter, and followed him for forty days until his glorious Ascension into heaven. Then we waited and prayed with Mary and the Apostles for the coming of the Holy Spirit. During the summer months, we went forward according to Jesus’ command, to spread the kingdom of God wherever we went. On the Feast of Christ the King, we will anticipate the Second Coming of Jesus at the end of time. And the following Sunday we will begin again to live the story of our Redemption and Salvation. During these last weeks of this liturgical year, let us review how we used this past year to live through the mysteries of Christ. Are we closer now to Jesus than we were one year ago? Our Lady of the Assumption
Our thanks to the Knights of Columbus for their
food drive to benefit Our Lady of the Assumption’s
Food Pantry. We are grateful for all the time and
energy spent collecting so much food. You may
have seen them over the past four Fridays standing
in front of the Amityville Stop and Shop happily
accepting the shoppers’ contributions....which
truly were outstanding. (I meant the shoppers
were outstanding; however, the gentlemen
collecting were too.)
Unfortunately, we are feeling the impact of the
current trend of companies to reduce full-time
workers to part-time – and those are the lucky ones
– and companies laying employees off due to a
variety of reasons. This means that people just like
you and me are now forced to consider how they
spend each penny they have squirreled away for a
rainy day.
We, optimistically, want to include these families
in our complete Thanksgiving dinner food basket.
Need I add that this is where you come in? Please
pick up something Thanksgiving-ish the next time
you are out shopping and drop it off either at
Church, Auditorium or the Outreach building.

NATIONAL NIGHT OF PRAYER FOR LIFE
We are seeking interested parishioners from our
community of faith to join us in preparing a prayer
service for the National Night of Prayer for Life
scheduled for December 8th-9th. Being a part of such
a diverse and unique parish, we have a greater
opportunity to gather ways to foster devotion to our
Blessed Mother, our protector. Please leave your

CHRISTMAS ANNOUNCEMENT!
Friday evening, DECEMBER 6th, all are invited
to an evening of Christmas music presented by
the OLA Choir and Leaders of Song. This
evening, during the first Week of Advent, will
be a great means of entering into the true
Spirit of Christmas.
The performance will be in the auditorium
beginning at 8:00 PM. There will be no charge,
but donations will be accepted for the OLA
Renovation Campaign. Please put this event on

DON’T FORGET YOUR BABY BOTTLE!
On the weekend of November 30th &
December 1st, Our Lady of the Assumption will
be hosting a Baby Bottle Fundraiser to benefit
The Life Center of Long Island. The Life
Center is a crisis pregnancy center that
counsels women and men who are experiencing
an unplanned pregnancy.
They provide
maternity housing, medical care, referrals,
cribs, car seats, diapers and ALL other items
that are needed. We are asking that you pick
up a baby bottle and fill it with your change.
Most importantly, we are asking you to recite
the prayer on the bottle.
The prayer attached to the bottle will enable
the counselors at The Life Center to say just
the right words a mother or father may need
to hear. It especially opens a mother’s heart to
accept the truth. We believe these prayers
lead abortion-minded women to call The Life
Center in the first place.
Let us pray with our whole heart for
the lives of our unborn children

¡NO OLVIDEN SU BIBERON!
Durante el fin de semana 30 de Noviembre y 1 de
Diciembre Nuestra Señora de la Asunción estará
patrocinando la recaudación de Biberones para
beneficiar al Centro de la Vida de Long Island. Este
lugar es un centro para embarazos en crisis, que asesora
a mujeres y hombres que están atravezando por un
embarazo imprevisto. El Centro provee vivienda,
chequeo médico, cunas, asientos para transportar al
niño en el auto, pañales y TODO los demás artículos
necesarios durante la maternidad. Estamos pidiendo
que ustedes lleven un biberón y depositen el todos esas
monedas que reciben como cambio cuando efectúan sus
compras. También es importante que ustedes incluyan
en sus oraciones la oración que se encuentra en las
botellas de biberón.
Esa oración facilita a los consejeros en el Centro de la
Vida decir las palabras correctas que una madre o un
padre necesitan oír. Esta oración, especialmente, abre
el corazón de una madre, para que acepte la verdad.
Creemos que estas oraciones conducen a las mujeres,
que están considerando el aborto, a que llamen al
Centro de la Vida.
Oremos con todo nuestros corazones por la vida de
los bebés no nacidos

Serdecznie dziękujemy Rycerzom Kolumba za zbiórkę
żywności do naszej spiżarni. Przez ostatnie cztery piątki
Rycerze Kolumba z Copiague przyjmowali żywnościowe
datki od ludzi robiących zakupy w sklepie Stop and Shop w
Amityville. Dziękujemy za ofiarowaną żywność.
Obecnie w wielu miejscach pracy ilość godzin zostaje często
zmniejszana. Niektórzy z nas zupełnie tracą pracę. Zatem
zwiększa się liczba ludzi potrzebujących naszej pomocy.
Prosimy Was o składanie produktów do przygotowania
kolacji na Święto Dziękczynienia dla zubożałych rodzin z
naszej parafii. Zapakowaną żywność można zostawiać z tyłu
kościoła, w audytorium lub w budynku Parish Outreach.

KURS BEZPIECZNEJ JAZDY
Jest to 6-godzinny wyłącznie teoretyczny kurs, przeprowadzany przez instruktorów dyplomowanych przez
National Safety Council, oferujących kurs bezpiecznej
bezwypadkowej jazdy samochodem. Otrzymają Państwo
poradnik. Kurs jest przeznaczony zarówno dla nowych
jak i dla doświadczonych kierowców. Ukończenie go
uprawnia Państwa na trzy pełne lata do:
10%-owej zniżki - Collision and Liability Premiums
oraz / lub
do czterech punktów karnych odjętych z konta
kierowcy (driving record).
Kurs odbędzie się w naszej Parafii w sobotę 25
stycznia 2014, w sali pod kościołem, w godz: 8:30 15:00.
Koszt kursu wynosi $45 od osoby. Czeki prosimy

ZAMAWIANIE INTENCJI MSZALNYCH
Przyjmujemy intencje mszalne na rok 2014. Ofiara za
intencję wynosi $15. Intencje nie mogą być przyjmowane przez telefon.
Nadal przyjmujemy intencje na msze św. na rok
bieżący. Zachęcamy do zamawiania mszy w dni
powszednie w języku angielskim - nadal jest wiele
wolnych intencji na ten rok.
Można również uczcić pamięć o swoich bliskich
poprzez złożenie Donacji na Chleb i Wino na dany
tydzień w roku 2013 oraz 2014. Donacja wynosi $50.
Osoba mówiąca po polsku dyżuruje w kancelarii
parafialnej w środy w godz. od 19:30 do 21:00 oraz w
soboty w godz. od 9:00 do 11:00.
NOC MODLITWY
W OBRONIE ŻYCIA POCZĘTEGO
W nocy z niedzieli na poniedziałek 8/9 grudnia br.
będziemy łączyli się na czuwaniu wraz z wiernymi w
całych Stanach Zjednoczonych. Będzie to modlitwa o
ochronę życia poczętego, położenie kresu pladze
aborcji i obronę wolności religijnej w Ameryce. 8
grudnia to uroczystość Niepokalanego Poczęcia, a 9
grudnia to święto św. Jana Diego, któremu ukazała się
Matka Boża z Guadalupe, która jest patronką obu
Ameryk i dzieci nienarodzonych.
W GODZINIE JEDNOŚCI, między północą a godziną 1AM
czasu nowojorskiego połączymy się ze wszystkimi grupami
zgromadzonymi na czuwaniu i modlitwie w całej Ameryce.
Wszystkich zachęcamy do czynnego udziału. Potrzebujemy
ochotników ze wspólnty polskiej aby zorganizować
modlitwę w języku polskim przez jedną godzinę w czasie
czuwania.
Wszystkich naszych parafian, którzy pragnęliby pomóc
nam w przygotowaniu programu modlitwy na tę noc,
prosimy o kontakt z kancelarią.

Kiermasz Rzemiosla w niedzielę 8 grudnia w godz:

DLA NIEMOWLAKA!
Podczas weekendu 30 listopada -1 grudnia w naszej
Parafii odbywać się będzie Zbiórka Funduszy na Butelkę
dla Niemowlaka. Dochód z akcji przeznaczony zostanie
na wsparcie Centrum Życia na Long Island. Centrum
Życia jest ośrodkiem wspierającym kobiety i mężczyzn w
przypadkach nieplanowanej ciąży. Pracownicy Centrum
służą poradą, pomagają zapewnić mieszkanie, opiekę
medyczną, łóżeczka, foteliki samochodowe, pieluszki
oraz WSZYSTKIE inne potrzebne rzeczy. Prosimy, aby
wzięli Państwo jedną z butelek dla niemowląt, napełnili ją
monetami 25-centowymi.
Prosimy Was także o modlitwę. Tekst modlitwy dołączony
jest do butelki. Wasza modlitwa będzie wpierać
pracowników Centrum Życia, aby potrafili dobrać trafne
słowa, które powinni usłyszeć rodzice nienarodzonego
dziecka aby otworzyć się na nowe życie. Wierzymy, że
dzięki Waszej modlitwie osoby, które myślały o aborcji,
zatelefonują najpierw do Centrum Życia.
