Baptism is celebrated each Sunday immediately after the
11:45 Mass. Registration and Parental instruction are required
before Baptism. Please call the Rectory for an appointment
several weeks before the desired date.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE:
Marriages are to be arranged at least six months in advance,
and prior to any social arrangements. Pre-Cana Conferences
required. Schedule is given during the first appointment with
the priest.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK & VISITATION OF THE SICK:
Please call the rectory to arrange for the Sacrament of the Sick
and Communion to be brought to the sick and shut- ins.

THE WATERS OF BAPTISM
When new sod is put in, it needs constant saturation
with water. Landscapers say that this “knits” the sod
to the soil. The same when a branch is grafted onto a
tree: the poultice that joins them at the splice must be
kept wet at all times. Water is the stuff that binds the
very cells of our bodies together. No wonder religions
throughout all times and cultures have used it so
prominently. When Jesus stepped into the Jordan for
baptism, he “knit” himself to what had come before
him. By going to the Jordan, he made himself one
with the people of Israel who had crossed it into their
Promised Land. With John the Baptist, Christ wove
himself into the prophetic tradition that heralded the
coming reign of God. He had become fully human in
the waters of Mary’s womb, and by partaking in the
rite of the baptism of repentance, Jesus identified
himself with our sinful, frail humanity. It is through
the waters of baptism that Christ continues to graft
new members onto his Body, the Church; through
these waters we are cleansed from sin and filled with
the promise of grace, given our destiny for eternal
life. For us, as for Jesus, it is also the waters of
baptism that inaugurate our to mission to proclaim

FAMILY CONNECTION
Although many of us may have already taken down
our Christmas decorations, liturgically speaking, the
Christmas season hasn't ended yet; today is the last
day. Holidays like Christmas are highlights of our
year, moments of great grace. This grace renews us
and prepares us for our return to the season of
Ordinary Time, to the continuing work of
discipleship. Gather as a family and discuss your
feelings about the ending of the Christmas season.
How does it feel to take down the Christmas
decorations? Many of us experience a letdown after
the excitement of Christmas; others may feel relieved
that life is returning to normal. Liturgically, we end
the Christmas season today by reflecting on the
importance of Jesus' baptism. (Loyola Press)

GŁOSIĆ Z RADOŚCIĄ EWANGELIĘ O RODZINIE
Wiele rodzin boryka się dzisiaj z problemami
niewiary swoich dzieci, zauważamy z niepokojem
wzrost rozwodów i związków nieformalnych. Z tym
większym przekonaniem trzeba głosić Ewangelię o
rodzinie, daną wszystkim przez Boga Ojca w osobie
Jezusa Chrystusa. Ta Ewangelia, jak podkreślił Ojciec
Święty Franciszek, jest zdolna udzielić odpowiedzi na
najbardziej nawet zawiłe pytania człowieka. Miłość
nie umarła. Miłość objawia się przez żywe i radosne
świadectwo wielu rodzin, które w ciszy, jak Rodzina z
Nazaretu, dzień po dniu żyją miłością i
przebaczeniem. Jak usłyszeliśmy w Ewangelii, Józef i
Maryja jako pierwsi odkrywali przed Jezusem prawdę
o Bożej miłości. Wypełnili wszystkie wymagania
Prawa, dając tym samym początek procesowi
wychowawczemu małego Jezusa, a przez to wyrazili
swoją wiarę. Dzięki ich staraniom i łasce, płynącej od
Boga Ojca, Jezus rósł, rozwijał się i napełniał się
mądrością (Łk 2, 39-40). Jakże dziś potrzeba takich
świadomych i umiejących odczytywać znaki czasów
rodziców, aby nie zniszczyć niewinności dziecka, aby
nie zakłócić jego naturalnego procesu dojrzewania i
odkrywania siebie także na poziomie seksualnym.
Konieczne jest więc wytworzenie w rodzinie
atmosfery bliskości i wzajemnego zaufania. Ta
atmosfera rodzi się tylko wtedy, kiedy rodzice silni
łaską sakramentu małżeństwa, wsparci miłością, są
darem dla siebie wzajemnie i dla dzieci.
2. Radość bycia ze sobą i dla siebie
W dokumencie podsumowującym III Nadzwyczajny
Synod Biskupów zauważono z wielkim niepokojem
powiększającą się strefę samotności i wyobcowania.
Doświadczają jej dzieci i młodzież, osoby starsze i
schorowane, a nawet małżonkowie w relacji do siebie
nawzajem. Jak stwierdzili Ojcowie synodalni, bardzo
często jest ona konsekwencją odrzucenia Boga oraz
kruchych relacji w rodzinie. Receptą na radość życia
jest tylko powrót do Boga, który będąc Miłością
pozwala człowiekowi w pełni uczestniczyć w miłości.
W pochylonych nad małym Jezusem Maryi i Józefie
odkrywamy tajemnicę miłości rodzinnej – mieć czas
na to, aby się zatrzymać, pobyć ze sobą, porozmawiać,
szukać miejsc i sytuacji, które pozwolą na budowanie
trwałych więzi. Nie mogą być one oparte na
wykorzystywaniu innych do własnych celów, ale mają
być owocem pogłębionej miłości opartej na darze z
