The tabloids that have been competing with each other register similar results every month. Nevertheless, in the annual
ranking it was Fakt that had a higher number of quotations. As far as opinion-making weeklies are concerned, the
leading position is taken by Wprost (1940), which surpassed Newsweek and Polityka. The fierce battle of business
dailies ended with the victory of Gazeta Prawna, which surpassed Puls Biznesu by 181 quotations in 2006.
The usual general subject of the quotations involved Polish politics and social life, whereas the most frequently quoted
detailed subject was the sex scandal in Samoobrona, which was triggered by the article written by Marcin Kącki "Job
for sex in Samoobrona”, published in Gazeta Wyborcza back on December 3rd, 2006. Over the year, this subject was
referred to 1115 times. As for current issues, the following issues also come high in the ranking of detailed subjects of
quotations: tape scandal, PZU case and the vetting issue of Archbishop Stanisław Wielgus.
