SHARING OUR BLESSINGS - May 8, 2011
Weekly $5237.50 (incl. $354.50 in loose money); Diocesan
Obligations $414; Fuel $1201 (incl. $159 in loose money); Easter
$184; School Excellence $35.
Stewardship Note: “I came so that they may have life and have it
more abundantly.” (John 10:10) We may think that filling our lives
with all sorts of riches is what Jesus meant by having life
abundantly. Yet, in reality, when we really take time to know God
through prayer and scripture we realize that the truly abundant life
Jesus offers is a simple life of prayer and service.
Note: The candles at the Blessed Mother Altar during the month
of May have been donated by the Holy Rosary Sodality.
FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER - May 15, 2011
He himself bore our sins in his
body upon the cross,
so that, free from sin, we might
live for righteousness.
– 1 Peter 2:24a
In Need of a Shepherd. For a
while it was very fashionable to own pigs as pets. The publicity
surrounding these creatures informed us that they
were–contrary to their popular image–very clean animals, and
also quite smart. Sad to say, sheep will most likely never enjoy
this sort of domestic vogue. They are neither clean nor smart
and are largely defenseless when left on their own, even in
large numbers. The biblical image of us as the flock of sheep is
not a particularly flattering one. Sheep without a shepherd are
truly sad, because they most likely will perish either from their
inability to fend for themselves or from their lack of defenses
against predators. Placing ourselves in the heart of this
unflattering image can reinforce our faith. Until we come to a
profound realization of how much we need a shepherd, we
cannot appreciate how deeply blessed we are to have been
given a Shepherd, one who laid down his life for us and was
raised to life eternal in the Spirit, so he might guide us and we
might follow him in faith forever.
The second collection this weekend is taken to assist with the
Forty Hours expenses
FORTY HOURS DEVOTION
Today after the 11:00 a.m. Mass,
we begin the Eucharistic solemnity in
our parish, traditionally known as
Forty Hours. The devotions will be
bilingual, except on Monday, which
will be totally in English.
The following is the schedule of services: Sunday – exposition
of the Blessed Sacrament after the 11 a.m. Mass and opportunity
for private adoration until 4 p.m. The Stearns Vespers will be sung
by the choirs at 4 p.m. with a homily delivered by Rev. Paul
LaPalme in English and Rev. Andrzej Knap in Polish; Monday –
Mass at 8 a.m., adoration all day. At 5:30 p.m. prayer service for
the youth, Religions Education and young adults. Tuesday – Mass
at 8 a.m., followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and
adoration all day until 7 p.m., concluding with homily in English
by Rev. John Lizewski, singing of the litany to All Saints and the
outdoor procession, weather permitting. We look to the First
Communion Class to take part in the procession; we invite the
Children of Mary, all parish organizations, Extraordinary Ministers
of Holy Communion, and the parishioners. Let our presence reflect
our deep faith and the need to recognize Jesus as Lord and Savior.

the balance of May, Sundays after the 11 a.m. Mass; Mondays at
7 p.m. in English; Fridays at 7 p.m. in Polish. At St. Andrew
