May Crowning
All parishioners and friends of St. Mary’s parish are
invited to participate in the May Crowning Ceremony on Monday, May 7th at 7:00pm. The school
children have prepared a prayerful and beautiful
ceremony to honor our Blessed Mother as Queen
of Heaven and earth.
The last Religious Education Class (CCD) will
be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007 from 8am to
10am. Certificates for students that received the
sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion will be distributed. All fees and tuition must
be paid up-to-date on this last day of class.

Parents of Pre-school age children are invited to

Rosary Confraternity
The Annual Rosary Confraternity Dinner will be
held on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at 1:00PM at the
Parish Social Center (50th and 31st Street).
The donation for the dinner is $15.00 per person. Members can pay their dues at the dinner.
Also donations of raffle prizes would be most appreciated. Please
call Helen Cison at (708) 863-4238) for more information about this
event.

Cardinal Francis George will celebrate his 10th Anniversary as Cardinal of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Cardinal George
was installed as Cardinal
Archbishop on May 7, 1997. One of the most important events is the Cardinal’s Mass for his people on
Saturday, May 12th at 5:15pm at the Holy Name Cathedral. You
are encouraged to attend this special liturgy in honor our Cardinal
Archbishop. Please remember Cardinal George in your prayers.

John 13:31-35
“Love one another, even as I have loved
you. (John 13:34)
On the night before he died, Jesus revealed his desire for us, his church. He
wants us to live in a way that marks us out as his followers in the
world. Since love is the core of his own life, we will be known as his
followers if we love each other. No other characteristic, important
though it might be, can show the world so effectively that we belong
to Jesus.
This theme of love resounds throughout the New Testament. In
Acts, when Paul and Barnabas returned from their first missionary
journey, all the believers in Antioch couldn’t wait to hear what God
had done through them. The whole community rejoiced in their brothers’ news and encouraged their evangelistic efforts. Clearly, it was
their love for one another that kept them united and strong.
In Revelation, a heavenly voice declares that God’s dwelling place
is among his people. God doesn’t abide in individual hearts alone but
among the entire human community made new in Christ. The Holy
Spirit – the mutual love between the Father and the Son- is also the
power of love dwelling in the midst of his people. And this Spirit’s
manifestation among us is powerful enough to change hearts everywhere and lead even unbelievers to give glory to Jesus.
How do we love our fellow Christians? By recognizing them as
brothers and sisters. By forgiving rather than sitting in judgment. By
welcoming them into our lives and homes rather than shutting them
out. By honoring them as followers of the Lord, even when we sometimes disappoint each other. By praying for their needs. By never
stirring up divisions and hard feelings.
God has compassion on all he has made and he calls us to be like
him. So let’s ask for his divine life so that we can love as he loves.
“Jesus, I ask your blessing on all members of your body here on
earth. Don’t hold back your grace, Lord! Shower it freely on all my
brothers and sisters. Let your generosity set the standard for how I
love.

Mothers’ Day Spiritual Bouquet Cards
Sunday, May 13th is Mothers’ Day. Mothers’ Day Cards
can be found at all entrances of the Church. If you would
like to remember your mother (living or deceased) in a
special way by offering Mass for her intention, please take
a card home today. You can deposit the offering envelope in the collection
basket or drop it off at the rectory office. All of the Masses will be said for
the intentions of all Mothers, living and deceased ,on Mothers’ Day.

El Aniversario
de Nuestro Cardinal George
Francis Cardinal George celebrará su
décimo aniversario como Cardenal
de la archidiócesis de Chicago. Cardinal Francisco fue instalado como
arzobispo cardinal el día 7 de mayo
de 1997. Con esta ocasión se celebrara la Masa el sábado 12 de mayo a horas 5:15
P.M. en la Catedral. Invitamos a todos que asisten a
esta liturgia en honor de nuestro Cardinal George.
También recuerden a Cardinal George en sus rezos.
La última clase de la religión se llevara a cabo el día
12 de mayo de 2007 a horas de 8:00AM a 10:00PM.
En esta reunión se repartirá los certificados de Primera
Comunión y de Confirmación de los niños cuales recibieron estos sacramentos. Hasta este día deben complementar todos los pagos.

ofreciendo la Santa Masa por ellas. Los sobres están

¿Que es el Santo Rosario?
Hasta ahora se ha considerado
como la mejor definición del Rosario, la que dio el Sumo Pontífice
San Pío V en su "Bula" de 1569:
"El Rosario o salterio de la Sma.
Virgen, es un modo piadosísimo
de oración, al alcance de todos,
que consiste en ir repitiendo el
saludo que el ángel le dio a María; interponiendo un
Padrenuestro entre cada diez Avemarías y tratando de
ir meditando mientras tanto en la Vida de Nuestro Señor". El Rosario constaba de 15 Padrenuestros y 150

Avemarías, en recuerdo de los 150 Salmos. Ahora son
20 Padrenuestros y 200 Avemarías, al incluir los misterios de la luz.
La palabra Rosario significa "Corona de Rosas". Nuestra Señora ha revelado a varias personas que cada vez
que dicen el Ave María le están dando a Ella una hermosa rosa y que cada Rosario completo le hace una
corona de rosas. La rosa es la reina de las flores, y así
el Rosario es la rosa de todas las devociones, y por ello
la más importante de todas.
El Rosario esta compuesto de dos elementos: oración
mental y oración verbal.
En el Santo Rosario la oración mental no es otra cosa
que la meditación sobre los principales misterios o
hechos de la vida, muerte y gloria de Jesucristo y de su
Santísima Madre. Estos veinte misterios se han dividido en cuatro grupos: Gozosos, Luminosos, Dolorosos
y Gloriosos.
La oración verbal consiste en recitar quince decenas
(Rosario completo) o cinco decenas del Ave María,
cada decena encabezada por un Padre Nuestro, mientras meditamos sobre los misterios del Rosario.
La Santa Iglesia recibió el Rosario en su forma actual
en el año 1214 de una forma milagrosa: cuando Nuestra Señora se apareciera a Santo Domingo y se lo entregara como un arma poderosa para la conversión de
los herejes y otros pecadores de esos tiempos. Desde
entonces su devoción se propagó rápidamente alrededor del mundo con increíbles y milagrosos resultados.
Entre las varias formas y modos de honrar a la Madre
de Dios, optando por las que son mejores en si mismas
y mas agradables a Ella, es el rezo del Santo Rosario la
que ocupa el lugar preminente. Vale la pena recordar
que entre las variadas apariciones de la Santísima Virgen, siempre Ella ha insistido en el Rezo del Rosario.
Es así como, por ejemplo, el 13 de Mayo de 1917 en
un pueblo de Portugal llamado Cova de Iria, la Santísima Virgen insiste con vehemencia el rezo del Rosario
a los tres pastorcitos, en una de sus muchas apariciones
a estos tres videntes
El paso del tiempo, las costumbres modernas, y la innovación de formas de oración, no pueden dejar a un
lado el rezo del Santa Rosario. De hecho, los Santos
Padres y los Santos han tenido una profunda devoción
a este sacramental, nosotros como católicos y como
amantes de la Reina del Cielo hemos de ser fervientes
devotos del Rosario. Es digno de recordar que la familia que reza unida permanece unida, Que la recitación
piadosa y consciente del Santo Rosario nos traiga la
paz al alma y nos una mas estrechamente a Maria para
vivir auténticamente nuestro cristianismo.

Jubileusz
Dnia 7 maja 1997 na pasterza archidiecezji Chicago został wybrany, Cardinal Francis George. W tym roku
przypada 10-ta rocznica tego wyboru,
dlatego tez dnia 12 maja o godzinie
5:15 Cardinal Francis George odprawi Mszę św. w katedrze, na którą są
zaproszeni wszyscy wierni naszej parafii. Pamiętajmy też o naszym pasterzu w naszych modlitwach

W tradycji polskiej miesiąc
maj jest poświęcony Najświętszej Maryi Pannie. W
tym miesiącu składamy hołd
Bożej Rodzicielce odmawiając litanię loretańską do Matki Bożej jak też rozważając
tajemnice różańca świętego.
Zwróćmy uwagę by w tym
miesiącu czy to w sposób
prywatny czy też przez udział
w nabożeństwie w kościele
tej pięknej tradycji stało się
zadość i abyśmy potrafili żyć
tak jak żyła Maryja Matka Chrystusa.
Nabożeństwa Majowe w naszym kościele będą w
każdą niedzielę 15 minut przed Mszą św. Serdecznie
zachęcamy do licznego udziału w tych pięknych maryjnych nabożeństwach.

Z okazji Dnia Matki wszystkie
Msze święte 13-go maja będą odprawione w intencji matek żyjących i
zmarłych. Kopertkę z ofiarą i wypisanym imieniem matki można złożyć
do koszyka wraz z niedzielą kolektą.

Różaniec
Różaniec - z pozoru to
zwykła modlitwa. Modlitwa długa i nużąca. Tak
jednak nie jest! Różaniec to nie jest zwykła
modlitwa - to sposób na
życie!
Odmawiając różaniec
oddajemy wszystkie nasze radości i smutki całe nasze - życie Maryi.
Gdy zwracamy się do
Niej z ufnością, możemy być pewni, że Ona
wstawia się za nami u Swego Syna - Jezusa.
Różaniec jest, zatem modlitwą zawierzenia, która kieruje nas przez Maryję do Jezusa. Odmówienie całej części różańca trwa 25 minut... To
jedyne 25 minut z 1440 - które otrzymujemy od
Boga każdego dnia!
O mocy różańca można pisać wiele - jednak to
każdy osobiście musi się o niej przekonać.
Spróbuj może już dziś porozmawiać z Maryją
trzymając w ręku różaniec. Ja spróbowałem i
wiem, że radości i pokoju, jakie daje mi ta modlitwa, nie da mi żaden człowiek. Na pierwszy
rzut oka odmawianie różańca może się wydawać nieciekawe, a nawet nudne. Czy rzeczywiście? Sięgnijmy do prostego obrazu z życia.
Obliczono, że małe dziecko powtarza wyraz
"mama" około trzystu razy dziennie. Czy to się
dziecku znudzi? Nigdy! A może nudzi to matkę?
Też nie. Reaguje ona na każde odezwanie się
dziecka.
Podobnie jest z modlitwą różańcową. Maryja
jest naszą Matką. Kiedy odmawiamy różaniec,
jesteśmy podobni do małego dziecka. Powtarzamy jak ono: Bądź pozdrowiona, Matko! Czy
Maryja cieszy się z tego pozdrowienia? Na pewno tak! Jest to przecież nawiązanie do radosnego wydarzenia w Nazarecie, gdzie Anioł Gabriel
oznajmił Jej, że jest "łaski pełna", a Ona przyjęła
to z pokorą, nazywając siebie służebnicą Pańską. Jeżeli Ona jest "łaski pełna", to my świadomi własnej niedoskonałości, prosimy Ją: "Módl
się za nami grzesznymi", abyśmy także napełnieni zostali łaską przyjaźni Bożej.
Ilekroć Maryja chciała przekazać światu swoje
orędzie, zjawiała się wybranym ludziom
(najczęściej dzieciom) z różańcem w ręku i usil-

nie zachęcała do jego odmawiania. Tak było w
