A great big THANK YOU
Our Lady of the Assumption
The members of the Rosary Altar would like to say
thank you to our wonderful parishioners who
responded to our Flower Collection. We had a
banner year because of your overwhelming
generosity. Our Church and Auditorium were
adorned with so many beautiful Poinsettias
reflecting our love and adoration for the coming of
the Baby Jesus and Mary’s Magnificat. Thank
you.
OUTREACH PROGRAM
Just because we don’t want you to think we are
out to spend your money, we are not going to
ask you to buy anything this week. (That doesn’t
mean you can’t, it is okay for you to surprise us
and fill those bins.) Instead, we are going to
request something that won’t cost you a penny.
We would like you to come and visit us at the
Outreach building and let us show you the
insides of the place you not only built but have
sustained for many years. I think you will be
impressed and proud of your work. We are.
I will confess that there is a wee bit more to our
invitation. We think you will like it so much that
you will beg us to let you volunteer two (or
more) hours a week with us. Being the good
Christians that we are, we will say “YES!!!!”

right to life and of penance for violations to the
dignity of the human person committed through
acts of abortion.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK...
This weekend we begin the Sundays of Ordinary
Time. But these weeks are far from ordinary. As
followers of Christ, we learn once more of the
three year public life and ministry of Our Lord.
The reading by the prophets of the Old
Testament and the Evangelists of the New
Testament give us fresh insight to the life that
Jesus led as He gathered His disciples around
Him. The Gospel narratives are familiar to us
as we walk along the dusty roads of Galilee, side
by side with Our Lord, each week, on His
journey toward Calvary and the Cross. Let us
try to imagine we are in the presence of the
Lord, listening to His teachings.
This week we are invited, along with Jesus and
His Blessed Mother, to a wedding in Cana. If
only we could have been present to witness the
first miracle of His public life as He revealed His
glory. It was at that time His disciples began to
believe in Him.

PARISHIONERS TAKE NOTE
Recently, there have been many car accidents
around the area of the Church…much more than
usual. While many of us obey the law concerning
STOP signs, and have the right of way, we become
victim to those who speed through the posted
STOP signs in an effort to avoid the traffic on Great
Neck Road. After much correspondence and
investigation, the Town has agreed to install ALLWAY signs at the intersections surrounding the
Church. Until this is done, we are asking for
extreme diligence when travelling to Mass and
Religious Education. We are very concerned for the
safety of our Parishioners and ask that you please
approach all intersections with caution.
ALSO, please realize that our weekend Mass
schedule is very restricted. Parking is sometimes
very difficult but once again we should obey the
rules of the road. There are NO PARKING signs
posted by the priests’garages so they can be free
in the event of an emergency sick call. A reminder
to those of you who use the parking area near the
Auditorium…do not block the cars parked in the
assigned spaces nor on the street in front of this
area. Parishioners have been forced to wait until
the next Mass is over to return home. The baseball
field is open for your convenience. We thank you
for your patience.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
SCHOOL IS IN SESSION
Due to hurricane Sandy, the Copiague and
Lindenhurst school districts will both have classes
during winter recess in February 2013. Religious
Education classes will also be open the week of
February 19th-21st.

at 10:30AM, in the Church
FAMILY MASS ADULT VOLUNTEERS
We are looking for adults to help with hospitality
once a month after Family Mass. In addition, we
are also looking for volunteers to donate either store
bought or home baked goods for these family
masses. If you are interested in volunteering either
your time or baking talents, please contact Dcn. Phil

Nuestra Señora de la Asunción
PARROQUIANOS TOMEN NOTA
Recientemente han habido muchos accidentes
vehículares alrededor del área de la Iglesia...mucho
más de lo usual. Mientras muchos de ustedes
obedecen la ley concerniente a las señales de “ALTO”
y tienen el derecho de paso, otras veces somos
víctimas de aquellos que aceleran cuando pasan esas
mismas señales, en un esfuerzo por evitar el tráfico
en la Great Neck Road. Después de mucha
correspondencia e investigación, la Alcaldía ha
acordado instalar señales de “TODAS LAS
DIRECCIONES” en las intersecciones que circundan la
Iglesia. Hasta que esto sea hecho, les pedimos que
tengan extrema precaución cuando conduzcan
viniendo a la Misa y al Centro de Educación
Religiosa.
Estamos muy preocupados por la
seguridad de nuestros parroquianos y solicitamos
que cuando se aproximen a las intersecciones lo
hagan con precaución.
TAMBIEN, por favor, dese cuenta que nuestro horario
de Misas del fin de semana es muy restringido.
Parquear es algunas veces muy complicado, pero una
vez más, debemos obedecer los reglamentos. Hay
rótulos de “NO PARQUEAR” colocados para las
cocheras (garages) de los sacerdotes, de esta manera
están libres en el caso de una llamada de
emergencia. Un recordadorio a aquellos que usan el
área de parqueo cerca del Auditorio...no obstruyan
los carros parqueados en los espacios asignados,
tampoco a los carros en la calle enfrente de esta área.
Algunos parroquianos se han visto en la incómoda
situación de esperar a que la siguiente Misa finalize
para poder marcharse a sus casas. El campo de
béisbol
está abierto para su conveniencia.

CERTIFICADOS DE BAUTIZO
Todos los niños que hayan sido bautizados en
nuestra parroquia en los últimos SEIS MESES y que
no hayan recibido su Certificado de Bautizo, se les
pide a los padres que llamen a la Rectoría en horas
de oficina. Por favor llamar a Ana, Extensión 20
(Inglés o Español) o a Kim, Extensión 21 (sólo

DE NUESTRO PASTOR...
Este fin de semana comenzamos los Domingos de Tiempo
Ordinario. Pero estas semanas están muy lejos de ser
ordinarias. Como seguidores de Cristo, nos enteramos
una vez más de los tres años de vida pública y miiterio de
Nuestro Señor. La rectura de los profetas del Antiguo
Testamento y de los Evangelistas del Nuevo Testamento
nos dan una idea fresca de la vida que Jesús condujo
cuando se reunía con Sus discípulos. Las narraciones del
Evangelio nos son familiares, mientras caminamos a lo
largo de los caminos polvorientos de Galilea. Lado a lado
con nuestro Señor, cada semana, en Su jornada hacia el
Calvario y la Cruz. Tratemos de imaginar que estamos
en la presencia del Señor, escuchando Sus enseñanzas.
Esta semana estamos invitados, junto con Jesús y Su
Santísima Madre, a una boda en Caná. Si solamente
hubiésemos podido estar presentes para atestiguar el
primer milagro de Su vida pública cuando El reveló Su
gloria. Fue en ese tiempo que Sus discípulos comenzaron
a creer en El.

PROGRAMA DE SERVICIO SOCIAL (Outreach)
Solo porque no queremos que ustedes piensen que salimos a
gastar su dinero, no vamos a pedirles que compren algo esta
semana. Eso no significa que no tienen que hacerlo, por nosotros
está muy bien que nos sorprenda con algo. En su lugar, vamos
a pedirle algo que no les costará ni un centavo.
Nos gustaría invitarles a que vengan a visitarnos a nuestro
edificio del Outreach (115 de la Calle Leonardo Da Vinci) y
mostrarles el lugar que ustedes han mantenido por muchos
años. Yo creo que ustedes se impresionarán y estarán
orgullosos de su obra. Nosotros lo estamos. Creemos que les
gustará tanto que nos pedirán que les permitamos trabajar como
voluntarios durante dos o más horas a la semana. Siendo los
buenos Cristianos que somos, nosotros les responderemos: ¡SÍ!!!

EDUCACION RELIGIOSA
Aviso
Debido al receso tomado durante el huracán Sandy,
los distritos escolares de Copiague y Lindenhurst
tendrán clases durante el período programado
para receso invernal. El Centro de Educación
Religiosa también estará ABIERTO durante la
semana del 19 al 21 de Febrero, 2013.

czegokolwiek. (Nie oznacza to jednak, że nie mogą Państwo
tego uczynić. Byłoby dobrze, gdyby zaskoczyli nas Państwo
wypełniając nasze pojemniki.) Zamiast tego poprosimy o
coś, za co nie będą Państwo musieli zapłacić pieniędzmi.
Pragniemy zaprosić Państwa do przybycia do budynku naszego Biura Pomocy Socjalnej, tak, abyśmy mogli pokazać
Pańswu wnętrze miejsca, które Państwo nie tylko zbudowali,
ale również utrzymywali poprzez wiele lat. Myślimy, że będą
Państwo zadowoleni i dumni z efektów swojej pracy. My
jesteśmy.
Myślimy, że będą Państwo pod tak ogromnym wrażeniem
tego, co zobaczą, że będą nas Państwo prosić, abyśmy
pozwolili Wam pracować z nami jako wolontariusze przez

INTENCJE MSZALNE- Przyjmujemy intencje msza-
lne na Msze św. w roku 2013. W celu zamawiania intencji
prosimy Państwa o przybywanie do kancelarii parafialnej
w godzinach pracy kancelarii. Ofiara wzrosła do $20(oraz
do $25- za intencję mszalną z kartą w twardej okładce).
Intencje nie mogą być przyjmowane przez telefon. Mogą
Państwo również uczcić pamięć o swoich bliskich poprzez
złożenie Donacji na Chleb i Wino na dany tydzień w roku
2013. Donacja wynosi $50. Osoby pragnące to uczynić
prosimy o przybywanie do kancelarii parafialnej. (Osoba

W KATEDRZE ŚW. AGNIESZKI W ROCKVILLE CENTRE
Msza Święta w Intencji Polskich Imigrantów zostanie odprawiona w Katedrze Świętej Agnieszki w Rockville Centre,
w następną niedzielę -27 stycznia, o godz. 15:00. Po Mszy
Świętej, w Parafii Świętego Władysława w Hempstead
odbędzie się przyjęcie. Przejazd autobusami z naszej
