From the Pastor’s Desk…. Sometimes you hear people say they have let go of ill feelings, that they love everyone - but in the same conversation they mention something a person said to
them last year - or twenty years ago. We forget names, we forget birthdays, but we do not forget injuries. We might bury hurts for a time, but they come back. The first step to forgiveness is to acknowledge offenses - what Jesus calls "debts."….. People who have deliberately offended do owe a kind of
debt. But like the debtor in today's Gospel they are not likely to pay what they owe. So we have a
choice: We can put them in jail, that is, cut them off - or we can release them, forgive the debt…… If
we choose to forgive, how do we do it? There is only one way: the cross. We have to take our anger,
our injuries, our hurts to the cross. The cross brings healing because when we stand before it, we recognize our guilt. If you or I were the only person who ever existed, Jesus would have died on the
cross to bring forgiveness. Our sins have placed Jesus on the cross…… Your sins and mine are like
the national debt - beyond imagining. In today's Gospel Jesus says we are like a debtor who owes a
"huge amount." The original Greek is "ten thousand talents." In Jesus' time, it would have taken the
average worker fifteen years to earn one talent. You get the point: fifteen by ten thousand is a lot of
work - maybe what it would take to build the great pyramid. We owe a debt to God that none of us
can pay off. Our only hope is the cross. On the cross Jesus cancelled our debt.

Chodzi przecież o to, by

nuestra deuda.

There are many things happening in Room 206 this
year! First, second grade has now taken over what the
sixth graders used to use as a classroom. Secondly,
Room 206 has a wonderful library area that is used for
read-alouds and mini-lessons. The students of Room
206 are very hungry readers and are always looking for
more fun books to read. We gladly accept any book
donations to our library! It has been quite a transition
for the 2nd graders, but many are resilient and bright
scholars! One thing 2nd grade is looking forward to this
year is writing to 3rd grade students from rural Arkansas. Many of the students are excited to know what the students in Arkansas are doing. This is sure to be a
busy year, so wish us luck!
Room 206 Ms. Hernadez
wspaniałą bibliotekę, z której można korzystad do indywidualnego czytania bądź też lekcji w małych grupach.

GRANDPARENTS DAY
This weekend we join in celebrating those special people in our lives who we call Grandparent. Pope Benedict
XVI mentioned the great blessing that they are. In conjunction with the World Conference of Families, he
stressed the “important role that grandparents have in families. Grandparents can be—and somany times are—
the guarantors of the affection and the tenderness which every human being needs to give and receive. They
offer little ones the perspective of time; they are memory and richness of families.
They are a treasure.”
PREPARING FOR THE NEW TRANSLATION
OF THE MASS
Communion and the Concluding Rites
On the First Sunday of Advent, November 27,
2011, Catholic parishes in the United States will
begin praying the texts of the Mass using a new
English translation of The Roman Missal. This
week, we explore Communion and the Concluding
Rites.
Our great prayer of praise and thanksgiving leads
through the Lord’s Prayer, our petition for daily
bread, into the action of Communion. We sing together even as we rise and move forward in procession to the altar. We must move to receive
Communion because the Eucharist is transformative—it demands action of us, internal as well as
external. We do not receive the sacrament in silence, but with a dialogue that is a profession of
faith: “The Body of Christ.” “Amen.” “The Blood
of Christ.” “Amen.” Our “Amen” is also a prayer
that we may become what we receive, the Body of
Christ, living and active in the world. So it makes
sense that after Communion we are dismissed—
not just let out, but sent forth with a mission “to
announce the gospel of the Lord.” This leavetaking is joined to a blessing, a prayer for God’s
continuing protection as we go out on our way.
