LENTEN REGULATIONS
Abstinence from meats is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years old and older on Ash Wednesday and on all the Fridays of Lent. The special Paschal fast and abstinence are prescribed for Good Friday and encouraged for Holy Saturday.

JESUS, REMEMBER ME
Our Lenten journey of conversion has
brought us to the holiest week of the Church
year. With palm branches in hand we enter
the holy city of Jerusalem, proclaiming,
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the
Lord.” From this grand entrance into the city,
we follow the Lord Jesus as he shares his last
meal with his disciples, institutes the Eucharist, is arrested, betrayed, and killed. Each
year this celebration of Palm Sunday of the
Lord’s Passion plunges us into the saving
mystery of Christ’s death and resurrection.
The Lord’s forgiveness of the repentant thief
reminds us that reconciliation awaits those
who put their faith in Christ. Let the repentant thief’s words become our own this day:
“Jesus, remember me when you come into
your kingdom” (Luke 23:42).

THOUGHTS FROM THE PASTOR
When the early Christians spoke about Jesus, they started with the passion. For example, St.
Paul said he wanted “to know nothing except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”…. As Christians
we always come back to the passion of Christ. Not because it is the last word. The very fact
that we meditate on the passion indicates that we see something beyond it. The early Christians
would not have gathered a passion narrative if they thought everything ended at the tomb. It
would simply have been too heartbreaking – like remembering a parent’s final agony. But we
know there is more, that the suffering had immeasurable worth. For that I must ask you to
come with us this Holy Week as we relive the great events of our faith.

Co czuje człowiek, któremu ktoś ratuje życie lub za niego umiera? Ludzie, którzy mają za sobą
takie doświadczenie, mówią często o powtórnym narodzeniu, o pragnieniu rozpoczęcia
wszystkiego od nowa, o zerwaniu z czynionym wcześniej złem, o świadomości daru, o
otrzymaniu nowej szansy, o konieczności spłacenia długu. A ja? Co czuję? Przecież za mnie
też Ktoś umarł. Umarł za mnie Bóg! I podarował mi nie kilka dni, miesięcy czy nawet lat życia, ale całą wieczność. Czy w świetle tego wydarzenia kształtuję i przeżywam każdy swój
dzień? Czy w świetle tej śmierci żyję? Od tamtej chwili, w której "słońce się zaćmiło i zasłona
przybytku rozdarła się przez środek", a "Jezus zawołał donośnym głosem: Ojcze, w Twoje ręce
powierzam ducha mojego" i "wyzionął ducha"; już nikt nie może żyć tak, jakby nic się nie wydarzyło. Bo wydarzyło się bardzo wiele! On cierpiał i umarł w straszliwych mękach, abyśmy
mogli żyć wiecznie. Rozpoczynający się Wielki Tydzień jest dobrą okazją do refleksji na ten
temat.

Cuando los primeros cristianos hablaban acerca de Jesús, empezaron con la pasión. Por ejemplo, Pablo dijo que querría “no conocer mas que a Jesús, el Mesías y un Mesías crucificado.”…. Como cristianos siempre volvemos a la pasión de Cristo. No porque es la ultima
palabra. El hecho que meditamos sobe ella indica que vemos algo mas allá. Los primeros cristianos no habrían juntado una narración de la pasión si pensaban que todo terminó con la
tumba. Habría sido demasiado triste – como recordar la agonía de la mamá o el papá. Pero sabemos que hay algo mas, que el sufrimiento tiene valor inmensurable. Para eso tengo que invitarles a ir con nosotros esta Semana Santa mientras vivimos de nuevo los grandes eventos de
nuestra fe.

REFLECTIONS FROM FR. EMIL
TO BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD
Faith is first of all a personal adherence of man to God. At the same time and inseperably, it
is a free assent to the whole truth that God has revealed. As personal adherence to God and assent to his truth, Christian faith differs from our faith in any human person. It is right and just
to entrust oneself wholly to God and to believe absolutely what he says. It would be futile and
false to place such faith in a creature.
For a Christian, believing in God cannot be separated from believing in the One he sent, his
beloved Son, in whom the Father is well pleased, God tells us to listen to him. The Lord himself said to his disciples; "Believe in God, believe also in me" J 14.1 We can believe in Jesus
Christ because he is himself God, the Word made flesh; "No one has ever seen God, the only
Son, who is in the bosom of the Father". Jesus Christ is the only one who knows him and can
reveal him.

WIERZYĆ W JEZUSA CHRYSTUSA SYNA BOŻEGO
Wiara jest najpierw osobowym przylgnięciem człowieka do Boga. Równocześnie i w sposób
nierozdzielny jest ona dobrowolnym uznaniem całej prawdy, którą Bóg objawił. Jako osobowe
przylgnięcie człowieka do Boga i uznanie prawdy, którą On objawił, wiara chrześcijańska
różni się od wiary w osobę ludzką. Jest więc słuszne i dobre powierzyć się całkowicie Bogu i
wierzyć w sposób absolutny w to co On mówi. Byłoby rzeczą daremną i fałszywą pokładać
taką wiarę w stworzeniu.
Dla chrześcijanina wiara w Boga jest nieodłączną od wiary w Tego, którego On posłał. Jego
umiłowanego Syna, w którym całkowicie sobie upodobał. Bóg polecił nam, aby Go słuchać.
Sam Pan mówił do swoich uczniów; "Wierzycie w Boga? I we mnie wierzcie" J 14.1 Możemy
wierzyć w Jezusa Chrystusa ponieważ On jest samym Bogiem, Słowem, które stało się ciałem;
"Boga nikt nigdy nie widział, Ten Jednorodzony Bóg, który jest w łonie Ojca o nim pouczył" J
1.18 Ponieważ On widział Ojca, On sam Go zna i może Go objawić.

La fe es ante todo una adhesion personal del hombre a Dios, es al mismo tiempo e
inseparablemente el asentimiento libre a toda la verdad que Dios ha revelado.
Por su revelacion Dios invisibloe habla a los hombres como a amigos, movido por su gran
amor y mora con ellos para invitarlos a la comunion consigo y en ella recibirlos.
La respuesta educada a esta invitacion es la fe. Por la fe el hombre somete completamente su
inteligencia y su voluntad a Dios.
Con todo su ser, el hombre da su asentimiento a Dios que revela. La Sagrada Escritura llama
obedencia de la fe a esta respuesta del hombre a Dios que revela.

here we would like to remind
you that a year-end statement
of contributions for 2009 is available from the rectory.
Please contact the rectory by phone or email with your
request and provide your envelope number as well as
your name and phone number.
BAPTISM
Please call the rectory to make arrangements. All parents and
godparents are required to register for and attend a Baptismal
Preparation session. English Baptisms are on the first Sunday
after the 9.00AM or 12.15PM Mass. Polish Baptisms are on
the second Sunday after the 10.30AM Mass. Spanish
Baptisms are on the third Sunday after the 2:30 PM Mass.
MARRIAGE Call the rectory to make arrangements at least
8 months in advance. Your date will be confirmed at the first
meeting with priest or deacon. Pre-Cana conferences are
required.
SACRAMENT OF THE SICK AND COMMUNION
CALLS
Please call the rectory to have a priest come for the sacrament
of the sick. If you have been hospitalized or are homebound
and wish a Minister of Care to bring you Communion, please
call the rectory.
