SACRIFICIAL OFFERINGS – November 21, 2010
Weekly $4621.55 (incl. $318.55 in loose money); Diocesan
Obligations $115; Fuel $377; Campaign for Human Development
$679.50 (incl. $108.50 in loose money).
STEWARDSHIP NOTE: The Son of Man will come at an hour
you do not expect. Good stewards know that they are accountable
to God for all they have and are, and they strive to live in readiness
for His coming.
Word of Life. Becoming a voice for the child in the womb, and for
the embryonic human being at risk of becoming a mere object of
research, and for the neglected sick and elderly is one of many
ways we can teach our fellow citizens that “The Measure of Love
is to Love Without Measure.” While critics want to portray the
Church’s witness as a narrow and negative ideology, it is just the
opposite: A positive vision of the dignity of each and every human
being without exception, each loved equally by God and so equally
deserving of our love and our nation’s respect.
– Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston
FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
November 28, 2010
“You......must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect,
the Son of Man will come.”
– Matthew 24:44
Hopeful Expectation. Our liturgical year
begins with the season of Advent–a time of
hopeful expectation of the coming of the
Lord. On the First Sunday of Advent we
look forward to the end of time when we
will awaken to the dawn of Christ’s new
day.
Today we hear Isaiah speak of a day when God’s power will
have brought universal peace and god’s Word will have
instructed all people, radiating God’s “Light” (teachings) into
the light of the Lord” (Isaiah 2:5), when all people desire to be
instructed “in (God’s) ways” will the world be set aright and
our deepest longings fulfilled. The reading from Romans calls
us to “awake from sleep” for this final “day is at hand”
(Romans 13:11, 12). Together this Sunday’s scriptures proclaim
our Christian faith that Jesus is the One who will finally come
to fulfill God’s plan of salvation.
The second collection this weekend is for all remaining
envelopes in your budget packet
Next weekend, the first Sunday of the month, the second
collection will be taken for Diocesan Obligations
ADVENT
This weekend we will celebrate the first
Sunday of Advent and begin a new liturgical
calendar. To emphasize the light of Jesus
Christ which shines through the darkness of
human life we kindly ask the children to
congregate prior to the 4 p.m. Mass at the main
entrance to the church to carry the votive lights
accompanied with appropriate singing and the
blessing of the Advent wreath by the priest.
FIRST FRIDAY ADORATION
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place after the 7 a.m.
Mass on December 3, 2010 and continue throughout the day
concluding at 3 p.m. with the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy and
benediction. A Mass will also be celebrated at 7 p.m. in the Polish
language.
All members of the Sacred Heart Society and parishioners are
cordially invited to join us at the 7 a.m. Mass which is designated
for either the living or deceased members of the Sacred Heart

discuss several issues. The following topics were discussed: Mega
Raffle, Bingo, Christ the King Adoration, Mailing to Alumni of St.
Joseph School regarding the Gym Brochure, Sharing Our Blessings and
Bishop McManus’ letter re Vigil for All Unborn Human Life to be held
on November 28, 2010 at the Cathedral of St. Paul.
˜It was decided that the Mega Raffle Fund Raiser which was held for
the past several years will not be sponsored this year because of current
economic conditions. ˜Bingo needs additional help from 4 p.m. to 5:45
p.m. as well as players to take part in the games. An additional person
is needed from 5:45 p.m. to verify the winning numbers. ˜A letter of
appeal was mailed to the alumni of St. Joseph School regarding the St.
Joseph School Gym. We would like to stress that this is not a parish
campaign but directed toward former graduates. ˜ The Parish Council
expressed gratitude for the diocesan initiative of Sharing Our Bessings
and thanked the many volunteers who made personal contact with the
families. ˜Parishioners are invited to attend St. Paul’s Cathedral on
Noveaber 28th at 7 p.m. for the worldwide Vigil for all Unborn Human
Life.
