The next Religious Education (CCD) class will be held
on Saturday morning, December 11, 2010.
Our 4th Grade Catechist will be leaving in January to
attend a university out of state. There are only six
students in this class, and we are hoping someone
will take over until the end of the year. Classes meet
twice a month on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. to 10:00

Second Sunday of Advent
Matthew 3:1-12
John the Baptist appears in Judea preaching a message of
repentance.
Background on the Gospel
In this week's Gospel and next week's, our Advent preparation for Christmas invites us to consider John the Baptist and
his relationship to Jesus. In this week's Gospel, Matthew
describes the work and preaching of John the Baptist.
John the Baptist appears in the tradition of the great prophets
of Israel, preaching repentance and reform to the people of
Israel. In fact, the description of John found in this reading is
reminiscent of the description of the prophet Elijah (2 Kings
1:8). In this reading, John directs a particularly pointed call
to repentance to the Pharisees and Sadducees, parties within
the Jewish community of the first century.
John marks the conversion of those who seek him out with a
baptism of repentance. Other groups in this period are
thought to have practiced ritual washings for similar purposes, and John's baptism may have been related to the practices of the Essenes, a Jewish sect of the first century. John's
baptism can be understood as an anticipation of Christian
baptism. In this passage, John himself alludes to the difference between his baptism and the one yet to come: “I am
baptizing you with water, for repentance . . . He will baptize
you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matthew 3:11).
In this reading, John makes very clear that his relationship to
the Messiah yet to come (Jesus) is one of service and subservience: “. . . the one who is coming after me is mightier than
I. I am not worthy to carry his sandals” (Matthew 3:11). In
the context of Matthew's Gospel, today's passage is followed
by Jesus' baptism by John, an event that is attested to in all
four of the Gospels and appears to have been the start of
Jesus' public ministry.
John's preaching of the coming of the Lord is a key theme of
the Advent season. As John's message prepared the way for
Jesus in the first century, we, too, are called to prepare ourselves for Jesus' coming. We respond to John's message by
our repentance and reform of our lives. We are also called to
be prophets of Christ, who announce by our lives, as John
did, the coming of the Lord.

Segundo Domingo de Adviento
"Conviértanse, porque está cerca el reino de los cielos."
Evangelio
Por aquel tiempo se presentó Juan el Bautista en el desierto
de Judea. En su proclamación decía: ¡Convertíos a Dios,
porque el reino de Dios está cerca!
Juan era aquel de quien el profeta había dicho: “Se oye la
voz de alguien que grita en el desierto: 'Preparad el camino
del Señor; abridle un camino recto!'” Juan iba vestido de
ropa hecha de pelo de camello, la cual se sujetaba al cuerpo
con un cinturón de cuero; su comida era langosta y miel del
monte. Gentes de Jerusalén, de toda la región de Judea y
de toda la región cercana al Jordán, salían a escucharle.
Confesaban sus pecados, y Juan los bautizaba en el río Jordán.
Pero viendo Juan que muchos fariseos y saduceos acudían
a que los bautizara, les dijo: ¡Raza de víboras!, ¿quién os ha
dicho que vais a libraros del terrible castigo que se acerca?
Demostrad con vuestros actos que estáis convertidos a
Dios, y no os hagáis ilusiones diciéndoos: “Nosotros somos
descendientes de Abraham”, porque os aseguro que incluso
de estas piedras puede Dios sacar descendientes de Abraham. Ya está el hacha lista para cortar de raíz los árboles.
Todo árbol que no dé buen fruto, será cortado y arrojado al
fuego. Yo, ciertamente, os bautizo con agua para invitaros a
que os convirtáis a Dios; pero el que viene después de mí os
bautizará con el Espíritu Santo y con fuego. Él es más poderoso que yo, que ni siquiera merezco llevarle las sandalias.
Trae la pala en la mano, y limpiará el trigo y lo separará de
la paja. Guardará el trigo en el granero, pero quemará la
paja en un fuego que nunca se apagará.
Mt 3, 1-12:
Invitamos cordialmente a participar en la
Novena de Virgen de Guadalupe. La novena
empezó el día 3 de diciembre y va a terminar con la Fiesta de la Virgen de Guadalupe
el día 12 de diciembre. Cada día de la novena vamos a rezar el rosario y celebrar la
Misa con el sermón. Para esta novena fue
invitado P. Andres Koselak - Misionero Redentorista que trabaja en Argentina.

II Niedziela Adwentu
W owym czasie wystąpił Jan Chrzciciel i głosił na Pustyni Judzkiej te słowa: "Nawróćcie się, bo bliskie jest
królestwo niebieskie”. Do niego to odnosi się słowo proroka Izajasza, gdy mówi: "Głos wołającego na pustyni:
Przygotujcie drogę Panu, prostujcie ścieżki dla Niego”.
Sam zaś Jan nosił odzienie z sierści wielbłądziej i pas
skórzany około bioder, a jego pokarmem była szarańcza i miód leśny.
Wówczas ciągnęły do niego Jerozolima oraz cała Judea i cała okolica nad Jordanem. Przyjmowano od niego
chrzest w rzece Jordanie, wyznając przy tym swe grzechy.
A gdy widział, że przychodzi do chrztu wielu spośród
faryzeuszów i saduceuszów, mówił im: "Plemię żmijowe, kto wam pokazał, jak uciec przed nadchodzącym
gniewem? Wydajcie więc godny owoc nawrócenia, ”.

Rekolekcje Adwentowe
Informujemy, że 12-go grudnia, III niedziela adwentu, rozpoczną się rekolekcje
adwentowe w naszej parafii. Rekolekcje
będzie prowadził O. Andrzej Koselak Redemptorysta pracujący w Argentynie.
Rekolekcje trwać będą do środy 15-go
grudnia. Msze św. oprócz niedzieli będą
celebrowane każdego dnia o godzinie 12:00PM i o 7:00PM.
Przed Mszą św. możliwość spowiedzi. Serdecznie zapraszamy
do udziału w rekolekcjach.
Parafia Marki Bożej Częstochowskiej wyraża swoją wdzięczność
tym wszystkim, którzy posługują w
niej: jako lektorzy, szafarze eucharystii, chórzyści, marszałkowie,
przewodniczący organizacji parafialnych, tym którzy sprzątają lub

Głos wołający na pustyni
Czas nadejścia Chrystusa nie był wydarzeniem rozreklamowanym na całym świecie. Wystąpienie Jana Chrzciciela dokonało się na odległej prowincji Imperium. Skromność tego wydarzenia daje wiele do myślenia. Jan był rzeczywiście głosem wołającym na pustyni, głosem Boga rozlegającym się
w świecie, w którym niewielu chciało słuchać Bożych napomnień.
Podobnie może być dzisiaj. Przyjście
Jezusa do mnie lub do Ciebie odbywa się skromnie, na marginesie wielkich wydarzeń lub kłótni sejmowych. Akurat teraz, kiedy czytasz
ten komentarz, Bóg czyta Twoje myśli i pragnie dopatrzyć się wzruszenia sumienia, pragnienia przemiany,
tęsknoty za Nim. Nikt nie odczuwa szczęścia w tym, za
czym prawdziwe wcześniej nie zatęsknił. Dlatego Bóg
szuka w Tobie tęsknoty za nawróceniem.
Jeśli ją masz, On umożliwi ci naprawienie Twojej ścieżki
życia. Najwyższy bowiem daje człowiekowi to, za czym
on naprawdę tęskni.
