7TH SUNDAY OF EASTER
As the end of our fifty-day celebration of the season of Easter
approaches, the Church presents us with Jesus’ Last Supper prayer
for his disciples and Saint Stephen’s prayer for his persecutors. As
baptized Christians, we know that we are descendants of the first
disciples, charged with proclaiming Jesus’ message and also
experiencing the consequences of being faithful witnesses. Let us
praise and thank God today for the graces given us in Jesus’ great
prayer for his disciples.
Parents of young children spend a lot of time teaching them
manners. It is part of the socialization process in which three-,
four-, and five-year-olds learn to come outside of themselves. They
begin to recognize that there are others in the world, and that
unlike in their infancy when all attention was focused on them,
they now discover that they must interact with others who also
have a claim on the social order. By teaching young children not
only the words, but also the concepts of "please" and "thank you,"
parents assist their youngsters in finding a place in society.
Children learn that they need to share, that not everything belongs
to them. They discover that they must interact with others to get
things to work properly. "Please" and "thank you" acknowledges
that outsiders also have rights.
All this brings us to Sunday's Gospel. There are only a few
places in the New Testament in which we actually hear Jesus pray.
The Gospel today is one of those. As he addresses the Father he
prays not only for the disciples gathered with him at the Last
Supper, but he also prays for us. He asks that we may be one and
that we may be brought to perfection. Across two thousand years
of time, Jesus is asking his Father to take care of us today!
"Please" and "thank you" are key words in prayer. They are
actually part of three of the four traditional forms of prayer.
Petition (asking for ourselves) and Intercession (asking on behalf
of others) are "please." A prayer of thanksgiving is, of course,
"thank you." The fourth type of prayer is adoration or praise. In his
prayer, Jesus is interceding for us with his Father. It is the kind of
prayer we can emulate, getting us out of ourselves as we ask God
to be attentive to the needs of so many others in this world.

Naming Our New Parish: Part 1 & 2
I would like to thank all of the parishioners from Christ the
King & Sacred Heart and Martha Eckert for participating in
the “Naming our Parish: Part 1” meeting. Part 2 will take
place on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 7-9PM. Three names
will be submitted to the Bishop by June 15, 2013 from
which, ultimately, he will select our new name.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION
This year, on the Feast of Corpus Christi (June 2nd), our
procession will again take place from Sacred Heart Church
down Main Street to Christ the King Church. This will
necessitate a change in the Mass schedule for that day. The
8:30AM Mass will be moved to 8:00AM. The 7:00AM and
10AM Masses will be cancelled but the intentions scheduled
for those Masses will be celebrated at the 8:00AM Mass.
The procession will take place immediately following the
8:00AM Mass. 11:30 AM Mass will take place as usual. All
children who received First Communion and
Confirmation this year are to take part. Please wear
your First Communion attire and Confirmation robe.
Children are to be in the auditorium at 7:45AM. Please
mark you calendars to be present for this celebration.
UROCZYSTOŚĆ BOŻEGO CIAŁA
W tym roku, w Uroczystość Bożego Ciała (2 czerwca),
planujemy zorganizować procesję z Kościoła Najświętszego
Serca Pana Jezusa do Kościoła Chrystusa Króla ulicami
Main Street and Brooks. Porządek Mszy Św. w tym dniu
ulegnie zmianie. Msza Św. z 8:30AM będzie przeniesiona na
8:00AM. Nie będzie Mszy Św. o godz. 7:00AM i 10:00AM
Intencje z tych Mszy będą odprawione o godz. 8:00AM.
Procesja Bożego Ciała rozpocznie się po zakończonej Mszy
o 8:00AM. Msza Św. o godz. 11:30AM pozostaje
niezmieniona. Dzieci, które przyjęły Pierwszą Komunię
Św. oraz młodzież po bierzmowaniu biorą udział w
procesji w swoich strojach. Spotkanie w Sali pod
kościołem o godz, 7:45AM. Prosimy o zapoznanie się z tymi
zmianami i tak ułóżmy swoj kalendarz, żeby być obecnym
na procesji tym samym zamanifestować swoją wiarę.

items on a loved one’s grave, they must be removed
before Memorial Day. Our cemetery crew will begin
removal and discard any prohibited objects after that
time.
