PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD

[Christ Jesus] humbled himself, becoming obedient to the
point of death, even death on a cross. - Philippians 2:8
PROPHETIC ANOINTING
The solemnity of today’s readings invites us into silent contemplation of the mystery of our redemption.
There are so many levels on which to understand
the events of the Passion. The woman who anoints
Jesus acts prophetically in a way that the other
disciples do not yet grasp. Anointing is for priests,
prophets and kings and also for the preparation of the dead. It
is for healing and for holiness. Her action acknowledges the
imminent events of the passion and death of the Lord and
points toward his resurrection and triumph over evil and death.
He is priest and victim, prophet and God, King and Lord. All
these things are acknowledged in her prophetic anointing.
The second collection next weekend
is for parish obligations to the Diocese.
Easter Sunday second collection is designated
for Education Excellence at St. Joseph School.
PALM SUNDAY
Today, the Solemnity of Palm Sunday, we commemorate the
Lord’s entrance into Jerusalem with the blessing of Palms at
each Mass. Children of St. Joseph School and their parents
should participate in the Liturgy at 9:30am. At 11:00am solemn procession with singing of the Passion of Jesus by soloist
and choir.

PENITENTIAL SERVICE
We scheduled the Sacrament of Penance on Monday,
March 30th at 6:00pm. Easter confession is deeply rooted in
the Catholic tradition and cherished for centuries for all the
faithful. The presence of clergy from area parishes for your
benefit will also emphasize the importance of the spiritual
preparation for Easter and also provides us the opportunity to
make confession in a timely fashion.

NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
We invite parishioners and friends to join our Eucharistic Ministers for the Novena and Devotion to St. Joseph on Wednesday, April 1st at 7:00pm.
Our Patron is an inspiration to many as a husband, foster
father, craftsman, traveler and a guide and motivates us through
his strength and grace to become a role model for the Universal
Church. Prayer intention request forms are available in the
chapel.

LITURGICAL SERVICES DURING THE TRIDUUM
The Paschal Triduum, Latin for “three days,” commemorates Christ’s redemptive passage through death, burial and resurrection
to new life. The Church observes the Triduum with Holy Thursday with the Lord’s Supper.
HOLY THURSDAY. Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00pm (bilingual). This sacred liturgy commemorates the establishment of the sacrament of the Eucharist and the Priesthood. We invite parishioners, all the school children and their parents to participate in this solemn liturgy. Rite of Reception of the Holy Oils, Washing of the Feet of the disciples before the
Last Supper and procession to the Repository will take place. It has been a tradition to visit area Catholic churches during
the evening to say a prayer at the Repository. Keep this tradition on-going with your children as a family. Our Basilica will be open
until 10:00pm for your private prayers and reflection. Mass and distribution of Communion at 7am only for those who cannot
participate in the evening services.
GOOD FRIDAY. No morning Mass. –At 3:00pm the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion will begin at our Basilica with
adoration of the relics of the Holy Cross and distribution of Communion. —At 6:30pm traditional services at the Holy
Sepulcher with meditation in English and singing in Polish led by the Sacred Heart Society, followed by the singing of
Gorżkie Żale. At 8:00pm reflection/adoration in the Polish language.
Reminder: Good Friday is a day of Fast and Abstinence, which means only one full meatless meal and two light meals may be
taken.
Good Friday Collection for the Holy Land. The offering given at adoration of the Cross is designated for the Holy Land. Keeping Christianity alive in the Holy Land is the urgent goal of the Church. Because of the escalating tension and violence, our support
is especially needed this year as Christians living in the Holy Land struggle to live their faith and be stewards of the sacred places in
Jerusalem and the West Bank.
HOLY SATURDAY - No Morning Mass
Swięconka-Traditional blessing of food will take place on Holy Saturday in the school cafeteria every half-hour from
9am to 12 noon and from 1-3pm. If anyone wishes to have a priest bless food at their home please call the rectory before
Apr. 1st.
The Easter Vigil will begin at 7:30pm with the blessing of new fire, paschal candle, water and readings followed by the Resurrection Liturgy.
At the Easter Vigil we will celebrate the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Congratulations to KellyAnn Cronan who
will be confirmed and Noah and Seth Boudreau who will receive First Communion. We welcome them into the full participation
of the Catholic Church.
Note: Holy Water will be available at the conclusion of the services and on Easter Sunday. You may bring your own containers.
EASTER SUNDAY. The Resurrection Celebration (bilingual) will take place at 6:00am with a solemn procession from
the Holy Sepulcher followed by Mass. We kindly ask all parish organizations to take part in the services on this most solemn day of the year. The 9:30am Mass is the special children’s Mass and we invite all the parents to participate with their
children.
Next week we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World. To this unique act Jesus
conquered death the worst human enemy and restored life. In the spirit of gratitude to God for this exceptional gift we participate in
Mass and also make a contribution to His Church it is a custom in this country that the Easter collection should equal a one-month’s
EASTER SUNDAY COLLECTION FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
With the steadily increasing enrollment at St. Joseph School, new technology and new enthusiasm among the parents and parishioners has raised the bar for an advanced curriculum. Unfortunately, all these improvements carry with them significant costs.
Therefore, I ask parents, parishioners, alumni, visitors and friends to generously respond according to their means to this traditional
Easter Sunday collection.
The moral landscape in American today is very challenging especially if you are raising a family. Same sex marriage, gender confusion, threats to religious freedom and disregard for the sanctity of life are just a few hot-button issues our children encounter in the
secular society. Catholic schools are the only hope in America. Gradually we are changing the world one student at a time.
I pray that your concern for our beautiful nation will be a motivating factor to provide some assistance or become an annual giver

2015 Diocesan Declamation Festival
On Sat., Mar.,21st, twelve 6th, 7th and 8th grade students represented
St. Joseph School at the annual Diocesan Declamation Festival at St.
Peter-Marian Jr.-Sr. High School in Worcester, MA. Ten students
participated in the Reading Event category presenting readings in
Children’s Literature, Poetry, Prose, and Play Reading. MacKenzie
Valliere received 2nd Place in Grade 6 Poetry for her interpretation of
disaster poems from Kids Pick the Funniest Poems. Abigail Duval
received 1st Place in Grade 7 Poetry for her collection of monster
poems from Kids Pick the Funniest Poems. Alexandra Sobczak
received 2nd Place in Grade 8 Poetry for her presentation of Smelly
Locker.
Alicja Stachowicz received 2nd Place in Grade 8 Children’s
Literature for her interpretation of Pirates Don’t Change Diapers.
Hannah Iozzo and Nicole Kulpa were awarded 3rd Place in Grade 8
Play Reading for their presentation of Stowaways. Noah Boudreau
was awarded 3rd Place in the Grade 8 Prose category for his
interpretation of The Prize.
In the Memorized Event category, Bartosz Mamro and Justyn
Sudyka received 1st Place in Grade 8 Duo Interpretation for Girlyman.
Also representing St. Joseph School in the competition were Edison
Rosario - Grade 6, and Grade 7 students Aleksandra Piascik and
AnnMarie Taylor.
Congratulations to all - we are very proud of you!
Mark your calendar-The Annual St. Joseph School Auction will
be held on Sat., Apr. 11th at the 200 Sportsman’s Club. Donations of
items for the Theme Baskets, services or monetary gifts are accepted at
the school office.

NIEDZIELA PALMOWA

„Jezus uniżył samego siebie, stawszy się posłusznym aż do śmierci
i to śmierci krzyżowej.” (Fil 2, 8)
Oto nasz Król – sprawiedliwy i zwycięski. Przez
mękę i śmierć podjętą dla człowieka będzie głosił
swoim braciom imię Boga. Będzie zwiastował
wierność Ojca, który nie porzuci nigdy żadnego ze
swoich dzieci. Król zstępujący do swoich. Blisko,
najbliżej jak to możliwe. Schodzi na dno piekła, aby podnieść
nas do królestwa niewypowiedzianego piękna Boga. jego
poszukiwanie każdego i każdej z nas nigdy się nie skończy.
Druga kolekta w przyszła niedzielę będzie przeznaczona na Zobowiązania Diecezjalne.

NIEDZIELA PALMOWA
Niedziela Palmowa otwiera Wielki Tydzień. Liturgia tego dnia
wspomina uroczysty wjazd Jezusa do Jerozolimy, bezpośrednio
poprzedzający Jego mękę i śmierć na krzyżu. Witające go tłumy
rzucały na drogę płaszcze oraz gałązki, wołając: "Hosanna Synowi
Dawidowemu". O uroczystym wjeździe Pana Jezusa do Jerozolimy
piszą wszyscy czterej Ewangeliści.
Liturgia Niedzieli. W ten sposób Kościół podkreśla, że triumf
Chrystusa i Jego Ofiara są ze sobą nierozerwalnie związane.
Bardziej uroczyste niż zwykle rozpoczęcie Eucharystii ma swoją
wielowiekową historię. W Jerozolimie już w IV w. patriarcha
dosiadał oślicy i otoczony radującymi się tłumami wjeżdżał na niej
z Góry Oliwnej do miasta. Zwyczaj ten wszedł do powszechnej
praktyki na Zachodzie w wieku V i VI. Poświęcanie palm
wprowadzono do liturgii dopiero w wieku XI. Aż do reformy
z 1955 r. istniał zwyczaj, że celebrans wychodził w Niedzielę
Palmową przed kościół, a bramę świątyni zamykano. Kapłan
uderzał w nią krzyżem trzykrotnie, wtedy dopiero brama otwierała
się i kapłan z uczestnikami procesji wstępował do wnętrza
kościoła, aby odprawić Mszę świętą. Symbol ten miał wiernym
przypominać, że zamknięte niebo zostało nam otworzone dzięki
zasłudze krzyżowej śmierci Chrystusa.
TRIDUUM PASCHALNE
Triduum Paschalne, po łacinie „trzy dni”, upamiętnia
przejścia Chrystusa przez odkupieńczą śmierć, pogrzeb
i zmartwychwstanie do nowego życia. Kościół celebruje
Triduum jako jedno wydarzenie składające się z trzech
odrębnych części. Triduum Paschalne Męki
i Zmartwychwstania Pańskiego to szczyt całego roku
liturgicznego. Rozpoczyna się Mszą Wieczerzy Pańskiej.
Wielki Czwartek. Msza św. poranna o godz. 7:00
dla tych, którzy tego dnia nie będą mogli
uczestniczyć w wieczornej Liturgii. Na Mszę
Wieczerzy Pańskiej (dwujęzyczną) zapraszamy na
godz. 19:00 kiedy to będziemy świętowali
ustanowienie sakramentów Eucharystii i Kapłaństwa.
Wielkoczwartkowa liturgia jest ubogacona o dodatkowe
uroczyste
elementy:
przyjęcie
Świętych
Olejów,
konsekrowanych przez biskupa w Katedrze, obmycie nóg
przedstawicielom parafii oraz przeniesienie Najświętszego
Sakramentu do „Ciemnicy”. Tradycją jest również prywatna
adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu po zakończonej Liturgii.
Drzwi naszej Bazyliki będą otwarte tego dnia do godz. 22:00.
SPOWIEDŹ WIELKOPOSTNA
"Kiedy przystępujesz do spowiedzi świętej, do tego źródła
miłosierdzia Mojego, zawsze spływa na twoją duszę Moja krew
i woda, która wyszła z serca Mojego, i uszlachetnia twą duszę.
Za każdym razem, jak się zbliżasz do spowiedzi świętej, zanurzaj
się cała w Moim miłosierdziu z wielką ufnością, abym mógł zlać
na duszę twoją hojność swej łaski. Kiedy się zbliżasz do
spowiedzi, wiedz o tym, że Ja sam w konfesjonale czekam na
ciebie, zasłaniam się tylko kapłanem, lecz sam działam w duszy.
Tu nędza duszy spotyka się z Bogiem miłosierdzia."

W naszej Bazylice spowiedź wielkopostna odbędzie się w Wielki
Poniedziałek o godz. 18:00. Bardzo serdecznie zapraszamy
do skorzystania z Sakramentu Pojednania i przygotowania się
do świąt Wielkiej Nocy. Bardzo prosimy również o informowanie
parafii o osobach, które nie mogą przybyć do kościoła
na spowiedź. Te osoby księża będą odwiedzać indywidualne
w umówionym czasie.
Wielki Piątek nie ma porannej Mszy św. Uroczysta
Adoracja Krzyża św. rozpocznie się o godz. 15:00.
Adoracja Grobu Pańskiego prowadzona przez
Sacred Heart Society rozpocznie się o godz. 18:30,
a bezpośrednio po adoracji Gorzkie Żale. Adoracja w języku
polskim od godz. 20:00.
Przypomnienie: Wielki piątek jest dniem ścisłego postu,
a zatem wolno jest zjeść jedynie jeden posiłek do syta,
a kolejne dwa bardzo skromne jedynie dla zaspokojenia głodu.
Obowiązuje też całkowite powstrzymanie się od pokarmów
mięsnych.
Ofiary zbierane w czasie Adoracji Krzyża są przeznaczone
na utrzymanie Grobu Pańskiego lub innych miejsc kultu
w Ziemi Świętej. Chrześcijanie w tamtym regionie muszą
zmagać się z wieloma wyzwaniami, które wiążą się
z wyznawaniem wiary i odpowiedzialnością za święte miejsca,
do których przybywają pielgrzymi każdego dnia.
NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
Zapraszamy parafian i przyjaciół do udziału wraz z Szafarzami
Eucharystii w Nowennie do św. Józefa. Nasz Patron jest inspiracją
dla wielu mężów, ojców, rzemieślników i podróżników. Przewodzi
także i motywuje, poprzez swoją siłę i łaskę do stawania się
modelem świętości dla Kościoła Powszechnego.
Wielka Sobota: nie ma Mszy porannej.
Poświęcenie pokarmów w szkolnej kafeterii co pół
godziny począwszy od 9:00 do 15:00 z godzinną
przerwą od 12:00do 13:00. Liturgia Wigilii Paschalnej
rozpocznie się o godz. 19:30 od poświęcenia ognia i zapalenia
Paschału oraz błogosławieństwa wody. Woda święcona będzie
dostępna po Liturgii i w Niedzielę Wielkanocną.

Katecheza w poniedziałek o godz. 17:30. Dzieci z klas 3 - 10 o

Mszę Rezurekcyjną rozpoczynamy w Niedzielę
Wielkanocną uroczysta procesją o godz. 6:00.
Natomiast na godz. 9:30 zapraszamy wszystkie dzieci
wraz z rodzicami na Mszę dedykowaną szczególnie dla
najmłodszych.
WIELKANOCNA ZBIÓRKA DLA SZKOŁY
Wraz ze stałym wzrostem ilości uczniów w naszej szkole
wzrastają jednocześnie oczekiwania, co to programu nauczania
i używanych pomocy dydaktycznych. Niestety wiąże się to
również ze wzrostem kosztów, jakie ponosimy na utrzymanie
szkoły. Dlatego tez prosimy rodziców, parafian, absolwentów,
gości o szczodre wsparcie w czasie wielkanocnej zbiórki.
