PALM SUNDAY
This weekend we commemorate the joyful entrance of Jesus
into Jerusalem with a solemn liturgy. Blessing of the Palms
with a procession will take place at every Mass with readings of
the Passion. A solemn procession with the singing of the Passion with the participation of the choir will take place at the
11:00am Mass in Polish. We encourage all people who have
some understanding of Polish to relive the spirit of the first
Palm Sunday by taking part in the 11:00am Mass.
EASTER SUNDAY COLLECTION FOR EDUCATIONAL
EXCELLENCE. The second collection on Easter Sunday is
traditionally dedicated to Educational Excellence at St. Joseph
School. An increased enrollment, new technology and a new
enthusiasm among parents and parishioners has raised the bar
for an advanced curriculum. We kindly ask parishioners,
alumni & visitors to contribute to the children’s education in
our school. May God bless you for your generosity.
PENITENTIAL SERVICE
This Monday, April 2, the Sacrament of Penance for all the
faithful of Saint Joseph Basilica will be held at 6:00pm. We
encourage and invite everyone to be reconciled with God and
one another and joyfully celebrate the resurrection of our Lord
on Easter Sunday. The presence of several priests from different parishes will be available for your convenience. Confessions will be heard in both English and Polish.

LITURGICAL SERVICES DURING HOLY WEEK
Triduum. The Paschal Triduum, Latin for “three days,”
commemorates Christ’s redemptive passage through death,
burial and resurrection to new life. The Church observes the
triduum as a single event made up of three distinct parts beginning on Holy Thursday and concluding on Easter Sunday.

PALM SUNDAY OF PASSION OF THE LORD
(Christ Jesus) humbled himself, becoming obedient to the
point of death. - Philippians 2:8
HOLY WEEK REFLECTION
For the Palm Sunday Gospel, we return to the Gospel according to Mark. The account of the Passion takes up nearly onethird of Mark’s entire Gospel and, of all the evangelists, he is
the one who presents the details most graphically. He depicts
the humanity of Jesus most intensely, describing his sufferings
thoroughly. Mark portrays Jesus as a complete fulfillment of
the “Suffering Servant” of Isaiah, the obedient, humble slave
dying on a cross of whom Paul speaks in Philippians. But it is
important to remember that we call this “Holy Week” and not
“sad week” or “suffering week,” for each of the readings today,
even the lamentations of the psalm, end in the promise of the
strength and hope that is granted by God to those who faithfully give of themselves in love. As we enter into this week
through these readings, we must reflect deeply on the sufferings of Jesus, but still be confident in the joy of risen, eternal
life that awaits all of us who faithfully walk with him through

Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00pm (bilingual). This
sacred liturgy commemorates the establishment of the sacrament of the Eucharist and the Priesthood. We invite parishioners, all the school children and their parents to participate in the
solemn liturgy. Rite of Reception of the Holy Oils, Washing of
the Feet of the twelve apostle representatives and will be concluded with a procession to the Repository. It has been a tradition to visit area Catholic churches during the evening to say a
prayer at the Repository. Keep this tradition on-going with
your children as a family. Our Basilica will be open until
10:00pm for your private prayers and reflection.
Good Friday. No morning Mass. At 3:00pm the Liturgy of
the Lord’s Passion will begin at St. Joseph Basilica with adoration of the relics of the Holy Cross and distribution of Communion. At 6:00pm adoration services at the Holy Sepulcher
in the Basilica led by the Sacred Heart Society and the choir,
followed by the singing of Gorzkie Zale. At 7:30pm, Reflection/adoration will take place in the Polish language.
Reminder: Good Friday is a day of Fast and Abstinence,
which means only one full meatless meal and two light meals
may be taken.
Good Friday Collection for the Holy Land. The offering
given at the adoration of the Cross is designated for the Holy
Land. Christians living in the Holy Land today are faced with
many challenges as they are called to live their faith and to be
stewards of the sacred places and assist Christians who arrive
day after day. In our modern day Holy Land, schools and parishes are signs of peace and hope. Bishop McManus asks that
you keep the people of the Holy Land in your prayers and that
we join our fellow Catholics in the United States in making a
generous contribution to nourish the faith in this land.
Holy Saturday. No Morning Mass. The Easter Vigil will
begin at 7:30pm with the blessing of new fire, paschal candle
and water followed by the Resurrection Liturgy. Holy Water
will be available at the conclusion of the services and on Easter
Sunday.
Easter Sunday. The Resurrection Celebration (bilingual)
will take place at 6:00am with a solemn procession from the
Holy Sepulcher followed by Mass. We kindly ask all parish
organization to take part in the resurrection procession including Parish Council and various ministries. The choir together
with accompaniment of musical instruments will assist in the
Liturgy. The 9:30am Mass is the special children’s Mass and
we invite all parents to participate with their children.
Swieconka. Traditional blessing of food will take place on
Holy Saturday in the school cafeteria every half-hour from
9:00am to 12 noon. And from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. If anyone
wishes to have a priest bless food at their home please call the
rectory by Wednesday, April 4th.
SACRED HEART SOCIETY
We welcome members of the Sacred Heart Society to the
11:00 am Palm Sunday Liturgy and solemn procession.
On Good Friday, the traditional adoration services and
meditation on the Five Wounds of Jesus at the Sepulcher under
the auspices of the Sacred Heart Society will take place at
6:00pm. All member are asked to participate.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
Thank you to all who have contributed to the Partners in
Charity Campaign during these past weeks. Our parish family
has raised $12,370 or 49% toward our goal of $25,000. We still
need $12,630 to reach our goal. If you have not yet made a
donation, please prayerfully consider making a gift to this
year’s appeal. A gift in any amount will be received with gratitude. Pledge envelopes are available in the pews of the church.

SATURDAY SOUP KITCHEN
Another heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone who helped
make our parish Saturday Soup Kitchen Meal a success. The
food was delicious and appreciated by all. Your response to
work and bake was overwhelming. It was gratifying to see so
many young people working with us for the good of others.
We made an awesome team! Especially moving was joining
hands in a circle of prayer led by Father Gregory. Our next
Soup Kitchen is scheduled for Apr. 28 and we will be asking
for your help again.

BUTTERBRAIDS
Butterbraids will be delivered on Apr. 4 and will be available for pick up at the school from 4:30 to 7:00pm. Items can
remain out of the freezer for a limited time so please be sure to
make arrangements to pick up your orders. We do not have

Lenten Flower Sacrifices-please remember to make your
loving sacrifices and good deeds again this weekend and
bring your flower to place at the base of the cross. Your
sacrifices will turn into a gift for Jesus on Easter Sunday.

NIEDZIELA PALMOWA

"(Jezus Chrystus) uniżył samego siebie, stawszy się posłusznym aż do
śmierci - i to śmierci krzyżowej." (Fil 2, 8)
Dziś rozpoczyna się najważniejszy tydzień przygotowania
paschalnego – Wielki Tydzień. Niedziela Palmowa, czyli
Męki Pańskiej, to także odbicie dramatu człowieka i jego
zagubienia pomiędzy poszukiwaniem Boga a całkowitym
odrzuceniem Go. Gromkie, radosne i jednocześnie błagalne
wezwanie Boga, „hosanna!” na cześć Jezusa przybywającego do Jerozolimy, wnet zmieni się w nienawistne „ukrzyżuj
Go!”. Rozważanie męki Jezusa to nie obliczanie zsumowanych cierpień, których doznał, to nie wewnętrzne zmaganie
się chrześcijanina z podejrzeniem sprzeczności pomiędzy
prawdą o miłości Boga Ojca a cierpieniem Jego Jednorodzonego Syna, ale kontemplowanie rozdarcia Ukrzyżowanego,
który będąc zjednoczony z Bogiem, doznaje jednocześnie
bólu stworzenia opuszczonego przez Boga (J. Ratzinger).
Druga kolekta dzisiejszej niedzieli jest przeznaczona
na zobowiązanie diecezjalne.
NIEDZIELA PALMOWA
Dziś celebrujemy uroczysty wjazd Jezusa do Jerozolimy.
Błogosławimy Palmy Wielkanocne oraz odczytujemy opis
Męki Pańskiej. Zapraszamy szczególnie na Mszę św. o godz.
11:00 podczas której odbędzie się uroczysta procesja z palmami, a także zostanie odśpiewana Męka Pańska.
SPOWIEDŹ
W poniedziałek 2 kwietnia zapraszamy wszystkich parafian
na godz. 18:00 na nabożeństwo pokutne do naszej Bazyliki.
Zachęcamy i zapraszamy, aby wszyscy pojednali się z Bogiem, z sobą nawzajem, by w pełnej radości przeżywać
Święta Zmartwychwstania.
TRIDUUM PASCHALNE
Triduum Paschalne to pamiątka zbawczego przejścia
Chrystusa od pojmania, poprzez śmierć na krzyżu, grób aż
po Zmartwychwstanie.
W Wielki Czwartek zapraszamy na Mszę Wieczerzy Pańskiej o godz. 19:00, podczas której będziemy świętowali
ustanowienie sakramentów Eucharystii i Kapłaństwa. Wielkoczwartkowa liturgia jest ubogacona o dodatkowe uroczyste elementy: przyjęcie Świętych Olejów, konsekrowanych
przez biskupa w katedrze, obmycie nóg przedstawicielom
parafian oraz przeniesienie Najświętszego Sakramentu do
"Ciemnicy". Tradycją jest również prywatna adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu po zakończonej Liturgii. Zachęcamy
do rodzinnych nawiedzin. Drzwi naszej Bazyliki będą
otwarte tego dnia do godz. 22:00.

Wielki Piątek jest tradycyjnie jedynym dniem w ciągu
roku, którym nie odprawia się Mszy św. Uroczysta Adoracja Krzyża rozpocznie się o godz. 15:00. Adoracja
Grobu Pańskiego prowadzona przez Sacred Heart Society rozpocznie się o godz. 18:00, a bezpośrednio po adoracji Gorzkie Żale.
Adoracja w języku polskim od godz. 19:30.
Przypomnienie: Wielki Piątek jest dniem postu ścisłego, a zatem wolno jest zjeść jedynie jeden pełny posiłek
do syta, a kolejne dwa bardzo skromne jedynie dla zaspokojenia głodu. Obowiązuje też całkowite powstrzymanie się od pokarmów mięsnych.
Ofiary zbierane w czasie Adoracji Krzyża są przeznaczone na utrzymanie Grobu Pańskiego lub innych
miejsc kultu w Ziemi Świętej. Chrześcijanie w tamtym
regionie muszą zmagać się z wieloma wyzwaniami, które
wiążą się z wyznawaniem wiary i odpowiedzialnością za
święte miejsca, do których przybywają pielgrzymi każdego dnia. Biskup McManus prosi, byśmy pamiętali o nich
w naszych modlitwach oraz łączyli się ze współwyznawcami Chrystusa w Stanach Zjednoczonych dla podtrzymywania wiary pośród Chrześcijan w tamtym regionie
świata.
W Wielką Sobotę nie ma Mszy sw. porannej. Liturgia
Wigilii Paschalnej rozpocznie się o godz. 19:00 od poświęcenia ognia i zapalenia Paschału oraz błogosławieństwa wody. Woda święcona będzie dostępna po Liturgii
sobotniej i w Niedzielę Wielkanocną.
Mszę Rezurekcyjną rozpoczynamy w Niedzielę Wielkanocną uroczysta procesją o godz. 6:00. Natomiast na
godz. 9:30 zapraszamy wszystkie dzieci wraz z rodzicami
na Mszę sw. dedykowaną szczególnie dla najmłodszych.
Święcenie pokarmów odbywać się będzie w Wielką
Sobotę w szkolnej kafeterii w godz. od 9:00 do 12:00 i od
13:00 do 15:00 co pół godziny. Tych, którzy chcą zaprosić księdza do domu na poświęcenie pokarmów prosimy o
kontakt z kancelarią parafialną do środy 4 kwietnia.
PARTNERS I CHARITY
Składamy serdeczne „Bóg zapłać” wszystkim, którzy
do tej pory włączyli się w diecezjalną akcje charytatywną
"Partners in Charity" Dotychczas zebraliśmy niemalże
połowę kwoty, której oczekuje od nas Diecezja. Tych,
którzy jeszcze nie złożyli swojej ofiary serdecznie zachęcamy do wsparcia dzieł charytatywnych, edukacyjnych i
pastoralnych organizowanych dla potrzebujących. Odpowiednie koperty są dostępne w ławkach w kościele.
SACRED HEART SOCIETY
Sacred Heart Society zaprasza wszystkich swoich
członków do udziału w procesji w Niedzielę Palmową o
godz. 11:00 oraz na adorację Grobu Pańskiego w Wielki
Piątek.
POSIŁEK DLA POTRZEBUJĄCYCH
Ubiegłej soboty po raz kolejny został zorganizowany
lunch dla potrzebujących. Zgłosiło się wielu parafian do
pomocy przy przygotowaniu i rozdawaniu posiłków.
Szczególnie cieszy zaangażowanie młodych, którzy
przybyli by służyć potrzebującym. Bardzo poruszająca
była modlitwa na początku posiłku, której wymiar
wspólnotowy wyrażał się poprzez utworzenie kręgu
połączonych rąk. Kolejny posiłek organizujemy
28 kwietnia. Zapraszamy do pomocy i z góry dziękujemy.

Przy wejściach do Bazyliki będą rozprowadzane bilety
na majowy Cash Calendar. Zachęcamy do udziału w
loterii i przypominamy, że w maju jest aż 31 dni, w
których można trafić szczęśliwy los.
RYCERZE KOLUMBA
Ciągle trwa sprzedaż biletów loterii 50/50 prowadzona
przez Rycerzy Kolumba. Bilety są dostępne przy
wejściach do Bazyliki w cenach 1 za $5 oraz 3 za $10.
Jak dotąd zebrano $1810. Losowanie nagrody odbędzie
się 14 kwietnia podczas Sports Banquet w PAV.
Zachęcamy do spróbowania swojej szansy i dziękujemy
za wsparcie Rycerzy Kolumba.
RELIGIA
Katecheci ciągle potrzebni. Zachęcamy wszystkich,
którzy chcieliby prowadzić katechezę dla dzieci i
młodzieży, aby skontaktowali się z Mary Jolda. Numer
