TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — If you share your food with the hungry,
provide housing for the homeless, then light shall break
forth upon you (Isaiah 58:7-10).
Psalm — The just man is a light in the darkness to the
upright (Psalm 112).
Second Reading — My message to you, says Paul, was
not clever words of wisdom but the proclamation of
Christ crucified (1 Corinthians 2:1-5).
Gospel — You are the salt of the earth, the light of the
world. In your good deeds your light shines before others,
leading them to glorify God (Matthew 5:13-16).

2014 ARCHDIOCESAN ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL
CONTINUES
“You are the temple of God”
(1 Corinthians 3:16)
Many of you have responded to the Annual Catholic Appeal
mailing from Cardinal George. On behalf of those served by the
ministries and services funded by the ACA, we thank you for
your gifts. If you received the mailing and have not responded,
please do so as soon as possible.
In addition to providing for ministries and services throughout
the Archdiocese, the Appeal also funds services that are of
great help to ministries here in our parish.
This year, the theme of the Appeal is: “You are the temple of
God”. In his first letter to the Corinthians Paul instructs that
each of us is a temple of God. God lives within us and He asks
us to share our gifts with others.
As we contemplate His gifts to us, we should also reflect on our
gratitude for these gifts. Your financial support for the work of
our parish, our Archdiocese and the Church throughout the
world is, in fact, one way to express this gratitude. Please give
generously to the 2014 Annual Catholic Appeal.
When our parish reaches its goal of $36,846 in paid pledges,
100% of the additional funds received will be returned to us for
use in our parish.

FROM DEACON JOHN ROTTMAN'S DESK...
I would like to invite you to consider joining the ministry
volunteers at St.Thecla Parish...
Volunteers are needed in the role of Lector of the Sacred
Word and the position of Extraordinary Minister of Holy
Communion.
The role of the Laity in the daily and Sunday celebrations of the
Liturgy is truly enhanced by individuals willing to assist at
Mass in these important functions. The Offices and Ministries
as defined by the Second Vatican Council, clearly state their
importance in the celebration of Holy Mass at the Parish
Church.
If you would like more information about the role of a
lay minister and other volunteer positions that serve our
parish, please contact me at the parish office. I'm available at
the parish office between 10:00am and 7:00pm to leave your
name and contact information. Please call me, or see me after
Mass, if I can answer any questions about becoming more
involved at St. Thecla Parish.
Thank you in advance for your consideration to become more
active at St. Thecla Parish!
Deacon John X. Rottman
A note from the Finance Committee
Our January contributions were lower due to the recent bad
weather as many were unable to attend Mass. Have you missed
a weekly donation that you can catch-up on? Thank you for
giving this your consideration.
Weekly Contributions:

Totals from the 02/02 collection will be printed in next week’s
bulletin.
Thank you for your generosity to help meet our weekly
financial goals. Please remember St. Thecla in your will.

Year of Strong Catholic Parents/Rok Formacji Rodzicow
It’s a painful day when your child comes home
from school or play feeling broken-hearted and
betrayed by friends. His or her natural reaction and sometimes ours - is likely to
become angry and spiteful. Your child
may stop trusting because it’s easy for a heart to
harden. But Jesus calls us to live openheartedly,
ready to reconcile, trust, and forgive.
That’s a tough lesson to master, but one that is at the very heart
of being a disciple of Jesus (“Forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass”). We parents do our children no
favors when we encourage resentment or spite. Instead, through
our words and especially our example, we can invite them to
the deeper satisfaction of living with hearts that are open to
trust, forgiveness, and love. - Tom McGrath
uczniem Jezusa („Odpuść nam nasze winy, jako i my
odpuszczamy naszym winowajcom”).
—Tom McGrath
ROZPOCZYNA SIĘ DOROCZNA KWESTA KATOLICKA 2014
„Jesteście świątynią Boga”
(I Kor 3:16)
najszybciej.
Poza wsparciem jakie otrzymują duszpasterstwa i programy w całej Archidiecezji, Kwesta Katolicka wspiera dodatkowo posługi,
Prosimy o hojne wsparcie Kwesty Katolickiej 2014.
Po uzyskaniu docelowej kwoty w wysokości $36,846 w postaci zrealizowanych zobowiązań 100% zebranych w ten sposób
środków, zostanie zwrócona nam, do wykorzystania na niezbędne cele w naszej parafii.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle. Be our defense against the
wickedness and snares of the devil. May God
rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O
Prince of the heavenly hosts, —by the power of
God—thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil
spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the
ruin of souls. Amen.
