LOTOS Group as
corporate citizen
in 2010
Gdańsk, 15.04.2011
The LOTOS Group aligns its corporate citizenship agenda with its strategy and mission statement.
In line with the values embodied in the LOTOS brand, the Company engages primarily in the
support of areas of vital importance to the lives of its customers and the local communities in
which it operates. For many years, the LOTOS Group has pursued its business goals with due
regard to sustainable growth and corporate social responsibility. The LOTOS Group’s activities as
a corporate citizen focus on two key issues: environmental protection, conservation and
improvement of the state of the environment, and the conditions of people’s lives in the
Company’s social environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS
In line with its CSR strategy, the LOTOS Group supports environmentalism, i.e. all activities
connected with the structure and processes of nature. The LOTOS Group runs and supports
projects designed, among other things, to raise awareness of the import of environmental issues
and pro-environmental activities, and to heighten social sensibility to the environmental
implications of the progress of human civilisation. A special focus is placed on environmental
education of children and young people, especially with respect to the protection of natural
riches of the Baltic Sea.
Cooperation with the Foundation for the Development of Gdańsk University
Since 2009, Grupa LOTOS has worked in close partnership with the Foundation for the
Development of Gdańsk University and the Hel Marine Station of the University’s Institute of
Oceanography. Joint efforts have been undertaken to save from extinction the most endangered
species of marine fauna, notably the harbour porpoise, also known as the Baltic Sea dolphin.
Apart from such efforts, the partnership delivers projects aiming to promote knowledge on the
biodiversity of the Baltic Sea, while providing information on how endangered species may be
protected.
The Company’s activities in the Puck Bay area are part of the project called “Active protection
of the porpoise against by-catch”. The porpoise is the only cetacean living permanently in the
waters of the Baltic Sea. Scientific studies suggest that the animal dies out at a rate faster than it
is able to sustainably reproduce. Grupa LOTOS donated cash to co-fund efforts aimed to protect
the harbour porpoise, which was expended to purchase hydroacoustic detectors and pots for
fishing. As part of joint efforts to protect the ecosystem of the Baltic Sea, the Company, for
another consecutive year, co-organised the Porpoise Day, an event held to educate the public
on the behaviour and protection of the species.

Cooperation with the Company’s partners also resulted in the project “Learn about and protect
biodiversity of the Baltic Sea”, which aimed to increase awareness about natural resources
conservation and to address the issues concerning marine mammals living in the Baltic Sea. In
2009 the joint efforts included training of biology teachers, while in 2010 a competition was held
among 53 junior high school students to test their knowledge on the biodiversity of the Baltic Sea
and its protection.
Also, an awareness campaign designated as “Wildlife in the water under the keel” was run,
promoting the protection of areas covered by the Natura 2000 network and encouraging the
public to get involved in the conservation planning process. The campaign was run onboard
vessels operated by Żegluga Gdańska, between May 1st and August 31st 2010. As part of the
campaign, 75,000 leaflets were handed out and ten education hoardings were displayed
onboard the ships. During the campaign, passenger traffic on the ships operated by Żegluga
Gdańska ran to nearly 282,000 people. To complement those efforts, a hoardings project was
run in Gdańsk, Gdynia, Sopot and the Hel Peninsula from November 2nd to December 31st
2010, promoting the conservation of habitats in the European Natura 2000 designated areas. 21
education hoardings were put up.
The key measure adopted to assess a project’s impact was frequency, or the scale of public
interest it attracted, especially in the case of knowledge promotion and educational efforts,
designed to raise public awareness of, and change attitudes towards, identified environmental
issues. Analyses show that these efforts have met with interest of both local communities and
tourists.
In 2010, the locations through which the education campaign was run attracted some 18,000
visitors. More than 128,000 copies of information materials and over 270 copies of an
educational documentary were handed out. The www.morswin.pl site was visited 15,000 times
over the year. Courses offered by the Blue School were attended by more than 3,800 persons,
while the Fokarium (“Seal Centre”) attracted nearly 434,000 visitors. The International Baltic
Porpoise Day and the Baltic Science Festival attracted a participation of over 4,000 and over
6,000 persons, respectively. 155 persons heard the lecture “Mayday for the Baltic Porpoise”.
The main strategic aim of the project is to provide financing for the ambitious initiative of the Hel
Marine Station of the University’s Institute of Oceanography called “Active protection of the
porpoise against by-catch”. One of the main reasons behind the mammal’s high mortality is
the use of gill nets in marine fishery. Set in water, the nets are virtually impossible to detect by
porpoises, as a result of which many of them become entangled, without the slightest chance to
escape. A similar fate befalls a number of diving birds, as well as seal cubs. There is therefore
an urgent need to modify the fishing techniques, so as to save many animals from unnecessary

death. Accordingly, the main result of the efforts undertaken so far is the reaching of
communities and individuals whose decisions may influence the ways in which marine resources
of the Baltic Sea are exploited, and bringing about a change in their attitudes.
International Clean Up the Baltic Sea and Clean Up the World Days
As part of the International Clean Up the Baltic Sea Day and the International Clean Up the
World Day, the Company launched the project “Let’s clean up the Baltic Sea! Let’s clean up
the world!”, targeted mainly at children and adolescence from schools in Gdańsk, Gdynia and
Sopot. Its purpose was to develop a sense of responsibility for the environment, especially the
Baltic Sea, including responsibility for keeping it clean. The venue of the event was the
Sobieszewska Island, located in close proximity to the Company’s premises, which has
considerable environmental value. The students cleaned up a stretch of woods and beach, and
then took part in a special educational and entertainment event focused around environmental
themes. A measure of the project’s impact was the participation of some 300 children from ten
preschools and primary schools. About 60 sixty-litre garbage bags were filled, predominantly
with plastic waste.
Cooperation with the Agency of Regional Air Quality Monitoring (ARMAAG Foundation)
As the scope of the Company’s business includes the chemicals sector, in our role as a
corporate citizen we feel particularly responsible for the environment. Apart from running
education campaigns, we cooperate with various organisations active in the area of
environmental protection, including the Agency of Regional Air Quality Monitoring in the Gdańsk
metropolitan area (ARMAAG Foundation). In 2010, Grupa LOTOS provided financial assistance
to the Foundation to facilitate the extension of the SoundPlan IT system and upgrade of the AM2
monitoring station in Gdańsk Kaczeńce. The purpose of these efforts is to develop, maintain and
improve the regional monitoring system in the Gdańsk agglomeration and in Tczew. The key
outcomes include the enhancement of the air quality information system and tools for assessing
the impact of emitters on air quality, improvement of the smog monitoring system to facilitate
prevention, encouragement of healthy behaviours and education.
In 1995, the Company sponsored the purchase of two air monitoring stations, which have later
developed into a network spanning the entire Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot agglomeration and
comprising ten stations, equipped with instruments measuring the levels of sulphur dioxide,
nitrogen oxides and dust, as well as key meteorological parameters.

Cooperation with higher education providers
Grupa LOTOS supports higher education providers and research institutes, thus strengthening
cooperation and building bridges between the industry and academic community. The Company
cooperates with higher education institutions on a mutually beneficial basis.
LOTOS Scholarship Programme
In the academic year 2004/2005, Grupa LOTOS entered into cooperation with the Gdańsk
University of Technology, which is involved in fostering a knowledge-based economy, as
evidenced by the impressive publication, patent and implementation track record of the
University’s faculty, doctoral candidates and undergraduates. The cooperation has also
delivered tangible benefits for the Company, which operates in the area of highly advanced
technologies. As part of that cooperation, Grupa LOTOS sponsors scholarships, provides work
placement opportunities under the supervision of industry experts and helps students write their
MSc dissertations on topics connected with the Company’s operations, which are later reviewed
by the Company’s experts.
In 2010, the Company granted 15 scholarships to the best students of the Gdańsk University of
Technology from:
- the Chemical Faculty,
- the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics,
- the Faculty of Electrical and Control Engineering, and
- the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
Additionally, Grupa LOTOS granted two scholarships to doctoral students from the Chemical
Faculty and two awards in recognition of the best Chemical Faculty MSc theses. Recipients
were selected by a special committee composed of representatives of Grupa LOTOS and the
Gdańsk University of Technology. Four of the students who received LOTOS scholarships in
2010 were scholarship grantees also in 2009. Two of the students who received LOTOS
scholarships in 2010, were again awarded LOTOS scholarships in 2011. Scholarships for
doctoral students from the Chemical Faculty were awarded through a competition where the

criteria included a connection between the topic of an MSc thesis and the Company’s operations
and the largest proven track record of research.
In the academic year 2007-2008, similar cooperation was forged with the AGH University of
Science and Technology in Kraków. In 2010, nine scholarships were granted to the best
students from:
- the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environment Protection,
- the Faculty of Mining, Surveying and Environmental Engineering,
- the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas, and
- the Faculty of Energy and Fuels.
Four of the students who received LOTOS scholarships in 2009 were scholarship grantees also
in 2010. One of the students who received LOTOS scholarships in 2010, was again awarded a
LOTOS scholarship in 2011.
Since the academic year 2004/2005, the Company has granted a total of nearly PLN 900,000 to
fund scholarships and awards for 156 undergraduates and doctoral students of the Gdańsk
University of Technology and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.
An integral element of the Company’s cooperation with higher education providers and its
involvement in the higher education process are summer work placements, during which
students have a chance to expand their knowledge under the supervision of a tutor – an industry
expert, rather than at university labs. In 2010, work placements were provided to 128 trainees,
including 48 students of the Gdańsk University of Technology (out of whom one was a recipient
of the LOTOS scholarship). In the same year, work placements at the Company were offered to
13 students of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków.
Additionally, in 2010 the Company made a grant to purchase teaching resources for students of
the Gdańsk University of Technology.
The LOTOS Scholarship Programme, run as a joint scheme with the Gdańsk University of
Technology and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, is being continued in
the academic year 2010/2011. This year, Grupa LOTOS is sponsoring 11 scholarships for the
best undergraduates and 2 doctoral scholarships, and will fund 2 awards for the best
dissertations written at the Gdańsk University of Technology. The Company is also sponsoring 6
scholarships for the best students, and will fund an award for the best dissertation, at the AGH
University of Science and Technology in Kraków.

Grupa LOTOS performed an evaluation of the impact of the LOTOS Scholarship Programme, by
requesting 24 students from the Gdańsk University of Technology and the AGH University of Science and
Technology to respond to a questionnaire containing the following questions:

Has the LOTOS scholarship increased your motivation to study?

Has the LOTOS scholarship influenced your academic development?

Does being a recipient of the LOTOS scholarship improve your chances on the labour
market?
The respondents were also requested to indicate other benefits they owed to the LOTOS scholarship. Of
the nine students who responded to the questionnaire, eight stated that the LOTOS scholarship had
increased their motivation to study and strive for better academic performance, and had influenced their
academic development, by enabling them to pursue and develop their scientific interests. Six of the
students said that being a recipient of the LOTOS scholarship improved their chances on the labour
market and was a distinct advantage to prospective employers. Other benefits of the LOTOS scholarship
indicated by the respondents included: a chance to concentrate on studies without having to earn a living,
ability to purchase books and other learning aids, higher motivation to excel as students and greater selfesteem. It also made the students more interested in Grupa LOTOS and its business.

Scholarships, co-financing of holidays and of investments made by education
providers
In line with its philanthropy policy, the Company supported social initiatives aimed to help
disadvantaged children and young people – from families with many children or from lowincome, and sometimes dysfunctional, families. The support took mainly the form of co-funding
of winter and summer holidays, as well as financial assistance in the form of monthly grants for
the most talented youngsters.
In 2010, Grupa LOTOS co-financed winter and summer holidays of 462 persons, including:
 110 children under the care of Fundacja Przyjaciół Wilna i Grodna “Serce Dzieciom” (the
Friends of Vilnius and Grodno “Heart for Children” Foundation) of Gdynia,

Company also funded 14 scholarships for well-performing students from low-income families,
under the care of the J. Beaumont Social Welfare Foundation.
c)
Assistance for flood victims
The Company did not remain indifferent in the face of the flood which in 2010 swept through
southern parts of Poland. It extended assistance to the employees, as well as old-age and
disability pensioners of the LOTOS Group companies operating in the flood-affected areas, but
also to entities and institutions engaged in relief work for flood victims – the total value of
assistance for inhabitants of the flooded areas was PLN 764,556.
a/ Assistance for employees, old-age pensioners and disability pensioners
The flood which in 2010 devastated the south of Poland affected also the Company’s
employees. However, they were not left to fend for themselves. The governing bodies of Grupa
LOTOS, as well as fellow employees, did not forget about them. The employees, old-age
pensioners and disability pensioners whose homes – houses or apartments - were ravaged by
the flood received financial assistance of up to PLN 10,000. The amount depended on the actual
damage and losses suffered, as assessed by teams set up at each company to review requests
for help from employees, old-age pensioners and disability pensioners affected by the flood. The
total value of the Company’s donations to employees, old-age pensioners and disability
pensioners amounted to PLN 628.556.
b/ Assistance for entities engaged in relief work for flood victims
Grupa LOTOS donated PLN 146,000 to entities engaged in relief work for flood victims. The
funds were applied to fund the mosquito-control campaign in Jasło, relief work for residents of
Jasło organised by the Municipal Social Welfare Centre and drying of buildings in CzechowiceDziedzice. Thanks to funds granted by the Company, 150 children from affected families were
able to go on summer holidays, while 800 children received Christmas gifts.

Road traffic safety
Akademia Bezpieczeństwa LOTOS (LOTOS Safety Academy) programme
In 2010, Grupa LOTOS continued the Akademia Bezpieczeństwa LOTOS (LOTOS Safety
Academy) programme, which comprised a number of initiatives aimed primarily to prevent road
accidents involving children, this being achieved through traffic safety educational projects
promoting safe behaviour on the road among children and adults.
The programme is designed to:

prevent accidents involving children,

promote safe behaviour on the road,

promote knowledge about the Road Traffic Act,

involve parents in self-education and education of their children regarding road traffic
safety.
In 2010, a number of projects were implemented as part of the programme, including the largest
ones: the LOTOS – Bezpieczna droga do szkoły (LOTOS – Safe Journey to School) project and
the Uwolnić odblaski art competition (promoting the reflective clothing and accessories).
LOTOS - Bezpieczna droga do szkoły is an education and accident prevention programme,
run jointly with the Polish Police and road safety experts, designed to prevent road accidents
involving young schoolchildren. Targeted principally at first graders, the programme seeks to
encourage children to pay attention to road safety, and to teach them safe behaviour on the
road, with a particular focus on visibility on the road. The low level of road traffic safety,
particularly among pedestrians, is a widespread social problem in Poland. The programme offers
an opportunity to participate in classes run by police officers and road safety experts, where
children learn about the rules of road traffic safety, safe places to play and the importance of
wearing reflective accessories. All participants are presented with reflective accessories and
road safety educational packages funded by the Company.
In September 2010, the programme was launched at the Primary School in Wiślinka (Province of
Gdańsk). Pupils had a chance to attend a class run by police officers from the Road Traffic
Department of the Gdańsk Police, and then take part in attractive educational and fun activities,
where they could put the newly acquired knowledge to use and thus fix it in the mind.
The programme is implemented in areas of operation of selected LOTOS Group subsidiaries: in
the Province of Gdańsk and in the counties lying within the sphere of influence of LOTOS

Czechowice and LOTOS Jasło. The LOTOS - Bezpieczna droga do szkoły initiatives have been
implemented in the Gdańsk region, Jasło and Czechowice since 2001, 1998 and 2004,
respectively.
Over the past five years, the Company has funded some 61,000reflective accessories and
38,000 road safety educational packages (13,000 items of each type in 2010 alone).
Uwolnić odblaski competition is targeted at first-graders from the Province of Gdańsk and the
counties of Jasło and Bielsko-Biała, particularly those participating in the LOTOS – Bezpieczna
droga do szkoły project. Its overall aim is to make children aware of road traffic dangers and help
them develop a habit of wearing reflective accessories, which reduce the risk of accidents.
In 2010, a total of 500 artistic works from about 70 schools were entered in the competition. In
each of the regions, first, second and third individual prizes were awarded, as well as special
prizes for schools of the first prize winners. The first prize was a bicycle and the second prize
was a pair of roller blades. The award-winning schools received special prizes – five bicycles or
a prize with the equivalent value. The school from the Province of Gdańsk received bicycles, the
school from the county of Bielsko-Biała – a model town for teaching road traffic regulations,
while the school from the county of Jasło - a computer with a program for teaching road safety to
children installed.

Communication of the Akademia Bezpieczeństwa LOTOS programme
One of the channels through which the Akademia Bezpieczeństwa LOTOS programme is
communicated is the www.bezpiecznadroga.lotos.pl web page, launched in 2009. Addressed
to both adults and children, it contains educational materials – a road traffic safety booklet and
game for children, as well as important information about current regulations and advice which
may be useful when discussing road safety with children – for parents, carers and tutors. From
September to December 2010, the web page was visited 4,000 times.
In June 2010, on the last day of school, a supplement was published with the Gazeta Wyborcza
Trójmiasto daily devoted to the Uwolnić odblaski competition, containing materials related to
safety of children during summer holidays, with a special focus on safety on the road. In
September 2010, the local Radio Plus Gdańsk aired, as a joint scheme with the Road Traffic
Department of the Gdańsk Police, a weekly series of programmes under the title “LOTOSBezpieczna droga do szkoły”, during which a police officer provided useful tips and advice
concerning road safety of the youngest children. Competitions with prizes were held daily, where
adults and children could win safety packages funded by Grupa LOTOS.
The purpose of the communication efforts undertaken by the Company was to raise the
awareness of adults about safe behaviour on the road and the importance of teaching it to
children, while drawing attention to the fact that safety of children depends directly on adults.
 Tackling educational inequalities
Skrzydła z Grupą LOTOS (Wings with Grupa LOTOS) programme
In pursuit of one of the objectives of its CSR agenda related to tackling educational inequalities
among children and young people, in 2010 Grupa LOTOS forged a strategic partnership with
Caritas Polska, a Catholic charity, as part of the Skrzydła (Wings) programme. The Company’s
support was targeted at 70 students of junior high and secondary schools who were at risk of
social exclusion and who lived in areas where the LOTOS Group operates. The Skrzydła z
Grupą LOTOS programme is designed to ensure equal educational opportunities and help
students develop their skills and interests, thus giving them a better start in life.
Grupa LOTOS provides financial grants as part of the Skrzydła na przyszłość (Wings for the
Future) package to pay for learning aids, books, additional classes and private tuition. For ten
months, each child covered by the programme receives monthly grants of PLN 154.

Gala events marking the launch of the Skrzydła z Grupą LOTOS programme were held at the
end of September/beginning of October 2010 at the offices of Grupa LOTOS, LOTOS Jasło and
LOTOS Czechowice, to which the scholarship grantees and their tutors from each respective
area were invited. During the events, the young people and representatives of Caritas Polska
had a chance to learn about the Company’s operations and visit its plants. Each participant
received gifts, such as fashionable shirts, t-shirts and school bags for recipients of the
scholarships. Following the official part, more educational attractions were in store for the
grantees: a visit to the Centrum Hewelianum (for children from the Province of Gdańsk), to
Planetarium Śląskie in Katowice (from children from the county of Bielsko-Biała) and to the
Magurski National Park (for children from the county of Jasło).
 Initiatives for communities living within the Company’s immediate neighbourhood
Dobry Sąsiad programme
The Dobry Sąsiad (Good Neighbour) programme was launched in 2006. It is implemented in the
city of Gdańsk, within the Company’s immediate neighbourhood. The Company’s commitment to
the local community aims to tackle social inequalities in relation to other districts of Gdańsk, by
supporting initiatives focusing primarily on children. The programme’s strategic objective is to
raise the environmental awareness and promote pro-environmental behaviour among the
youngest children:
The programme is designed to:

foster the Company’s positive image among inhabitants of the neighbouring districts
through educational activities targeted at the youngest,

involve the Company in the life of local communities (i.e. organising family events,
sporting events, etc.),

offer support to environmental projects run in the refinery’s immediate vicinity, notably the
Sobieszewska Island,

offer support to selected local government projects seeking to improve the quality of life
of inhabitants in the districts covered by the programme,

develop the local inhabitants’ understanding of the refinery’s operation and assuring
them that it has state-of-the-art environmental security controls. These efforts should be
complemented by education of children and targeted at representatives of the individual
districts – the Company’s emissaries among adult members of the local communities,


tackle social inequalities by providing support to non-profit organisations, with a special
focus on children,

involve the Company in long-standing initiatives aimed at inhabitants of Grupa LOTOS’
neighbouring districts, with a particular focus on children (construction of playgrounds
and sports fields, and park revitalisation work).
Beneficiaries of the Dobry Sąsiad programme:

inhabitants of districts neighbouring the main beneficiary – schoolchildren from primary
and junior high schools,

people under the care of foundations and non-profit organisations which operate in the
areas covered by the programme and whose mission is to help local communities,

local government.
In pursuit of the programme’s objectives, Grupa LOTOS, in cooperation with the Ornithology
Station of the Museum and Institute of Zoology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Kuling
Waterbird Research Group, and the Association of Sobieszewska Island Lovers, devised and
implemented the “Protect the Wildlife of the Sobieszewska Island” programme. The
programme was designed as a comprehensive initiative to preserve the natural environment of
the Sobieszewska Island and to educate the public in the spirit of respect for and understanding
of the environment. The following efforts were undertaken as part of the programme:
 proper infrastructure was built to minimise threats to the Mewia Łacha bird reserve: a
three-kilometre eco-route was laid out. The final section (700m) was delineated by a stake
and rope fencing, with 16 education billboards put up alongside, providing information on the
natural assets of the Mewia Łacha bird reserve. In 2011, an observation tower will be
erected, crowning the investment efforts within the reserve,
 awareness and education campaign among local inhabitants and tourists to show them
the extraordinary natural charm of the Sobieszewska Island;
 12 education billboards were made and put up on the Sobieszewska Island featuring
the flora and fauna of the island, their habitats and natural wonders of the Sobieszewska
Island, notably the Natura 2000 areas;
 2,000 copies of the 40-page Echa Wyspy periodical were printed, presenting natural
wonders of the Sobieszewska Island;
 education campaign for children and young people was run, as a continuation of the
project implemented in 2009 under the designation: “Sobieszewska Island and Natura 2000.
Protection of birds and their habitats”. As part of the campaign, lectures were delivered to 40
groups of schoolchildren from primary and junior high schools from Gdańsk and the
municipality of Pruszcz Gdański (1,048 children and teachers). The largest group covered by

the initiative were primary school children (62%) from Gdańsk (80%). The teachers involved
concluded that the lectures would raise environmental awareness and were interesting to
participants. A brochure entitled Reedbed birds was prepared as a teaching aid used during
the campaign – 13,000 copies of the brochure were printed and distributed among
participants;
 purchase of infrastructure – with a view to improving the educational infrastructure to raise
the efficiency and impact of the institute’s teaching efforts, the Company sponsored the
purchase of a multimedia portable computer.
The programme designed in this way offered a comprehensive approach to the protection of the
Sobieszewska Island’s natural environment.

Social initiatives: fundraising and disability inclusion concerts
Grupa LOTOS supports projects which cater for the needs and expectations of its local
communities. Particular importance is attached to initiatives aiming to bridge social gaps among
children and provide help to those placed in children’s homes or raised in poor or dysfunctional
families. In 2010, the Company was again engaged in the preparation of the Children’s Day
festivities, held at the Gdańsk-Oliwa zoo, and Santa Claus gift-giving events in Gdańsk, Jasło
and Czechowice-Dziedzice.
a)
Santa Claus in the Province of Gdańsk
For 150 children staying at children’s homes in Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot, or supported by the
Pomóż Sobie i Innym Foundation, the Association of Practising Educators and the Rodzina
Nadziei Foundation, a Santa Claus gift-giving event was organised at the Gdańsk Science and
Technology Park. Participants enjoyed a wide variety of fun activities, such as sports and
leisure, arts and prize competitions. The children and their carers were each presented with a
goodie bag and offered refreshments. In addition, a tour was organised to see the main
interactive exhibition in the newly opened Education Park.
Other Santa Claus gift-giving events
For another time, Grupa LOTOS became involved in the Nationwide Gathering of Santa Clauses
in Szymbark and for the second time offered its support for the “Santa Claus in hospitals”
campaign, organised by Radio Gdańsk. As part of the campaign, Santa Claus visited 150 little
patients of children’s wards from three hospitals in the Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot agglomeration.
Grupa LOTOS funded Christmas gifts for children, involving in the campaign players from the
LOTOS Trefl Gdańsk team.

In addition, the Company’s involvement in the Santa Claus campaign in the Gdańsk-GdyniaSopot agglomeration included a gift-giving event for persons under the care of the EFFETHA
Association of Deaf People’s Families and Friends in Gdynia. Christmas gifts were also funded
for wards of the Children’s Home in the Demptowo district of Gdynia and handed personally by
women players from the LOTOS Gdynia team. Other Santa Claus campaigns in which Grupa
LOTOS was involved included the Zostań Świętym Mikołajem (Be Santa Claus) campaign
organised by the Foundation for the Disabled in Stróże and funding of Christmas parcels for
children living in the Kalinigrad Oblast, Russia.
b) Festivals and disability inclusion concerts
Grupa LOTOS offers support to local initiatives aimed at giving equal opportunities to lead
normal lives to the disadvantaged – people with disabilities – and promoting activities designed
to help them develop and function in society in the best possible way.
In 2010, Grupa LOTOS partnered the following events:

3rd International Artistic Encounters organised by the Centre of European Meetings
“Światowid”,

Muzyka pamięcią serca (Music is the Memory of the Heart) concert, featuring performances
by the disabled, organised by the Nuta Nadziei (Note of Hope) Foundation, held in Smętów
Graniczny.
c) Fund-raising concerts/events
Grupa LOTOS extends support to various social initiatives organised to raise funds for the most
needy.
In 2010, the Company supported:

Culture
For many years, Grupa LOTOS has consistently become involved in the highest-profile cultural
events in the regions where companies of the LOTOS Group operate. It has offered support to
events whose profiles coincide with its brand message strategy. They are local events whose
influence and impact, however, extend beyond one region. In the Province of Gdańsk, Grupa
LOTOS focuses on events held in Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot, selecting them based on such
criteria as a social dimension and promotion of the region in Poland or internationally.
In 2010, the Company contributed i.a. to the organisation of the following cultural and social
events:
- in Gdańsk: the 2nd Solidarity of Arts Festival, World Gdańsk Reunion, Hevelius Month,
- in Sopot: the Festival of the Bohaterów Monte Cassino Street,
- in Gdynia: the Polish Film Festival and Cuda Wianki–Lato zaczyna się w Gdyni (festivities held
to celebrate the beginning of summer).
As some of Grupa LOTOS’ production operations are located in southern parts of Poland, the
Company – continuing the tradition of previous years – offered support to high-profile cultural
events in the region: the Bieszczady Encounters with Art Rozsypaniec and the 28th International
Festival of Lemko Culture Łemkowska Warta. In the south of Poland, the Company is also
traditionally the titular sponsor of one of the largest and most prestigious jazz festivals: Jazz
Festival-Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa.
