Stewardship Note: “You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything. . . .” How many “gods” do you
put before God? “Idols” do not always take the shape of physical things, things we can touch and feel. Those are easy to recognize. Many times they take the form of things we cannot
touch and are much harder to spot - pride, power, ego, comfort
or health.

THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
MARCH 8, 2015
I, the LORD, am your God . . .
You shall not have other gods besides me. - Exodus 20:2a,3
THE PATH TO FREEDOM
Most of us, if we were asked “Does the phrase
‘the Ten Commandments’ appear in the Bible?”
would likely get it wrong, because the answer is
“no.” “The Ten Commandments” is a post-biblical,
phrase that developed along with an image of God as police
officer that is not found in today’s passage from Exodus . The
first phrase is the key: God is the one who brings us out of
slavery; following God’s law or commands is our path to freedom. The moneychangers whom Jesus drove from the temple
were not explicitly breaking any of the commandments, but
neither were they helping people to find God’s path to freedom
as they came to worship at the temple. This is an important
Lenten lesson for us. We need to stop asking ourselves
whether or not we are breaking specific rules or regulations and
instead examine our lives to see if we are truly following a path
to God’s freedom through Christ.
The second collections this week will be for
Higher Utility and Energy Costs
and also Partners in Charity Annual Appeal.
Both envelopes may be placed at the same time.
Next weekend’s collection is designated f

POPE FRANCIS’ SECRET TO HAPPINESS
Make Sunday a Holy Day - Pope Francis suggests that a
surefire way to find happiness is to reclaim Sunday as a holy
day. He also suggests that Sunday should be a family day. You
can start to make Sunday holy by going to Mass every week.
Making the rest of the day holy will depend on your lifestyle.
If you work indoors, outdoor adventures will allow you to enjoy
God’s creation. If you’re active all week, you might build some
quiet time into Sunday. Observing Sunday as a holy day offers
us the opportunity to reflect on the spiritual side of our
existence, appreciate the blessings of family and discover true
happiness.

KRONIKA PARAFIALNA
TRZECIA NIEDZIELA WIELKIEGO POSTU
8 marca 2015
Uroczysta Msza św. zostanie odprawiona o godz. 19:00.
Pól godziny przed Msza św. możliwość spowiedzi. Do udziału
w uroczystej liturgii zapraszamy wszystkich parafian a szczególnie
członków organizacji parafialnych.
Gwałtowna niezgoda Boga na to wszystko, co nas
pomniejsza, wyraża się w kategorycznym: „Nie
będziesz!”. Nie będziesz miał cudzych bogów, nie
będziesz oddawał im pokłonu... Tę samą żarliwość
okazuje Jezus w świątyni. Nie zgadza się na sprowadzenie
wiary do religijnego kupczenia. Jezus wie, jacy możemy być
dzięki Jego łasce, która uczy nas mądrości, „raduje serce”
i „olśniewa oczy”. On wie, jak bardzo Bóg pragnie naszego
wzajemnego oddania. On też zna ludzkie serca: ich
spełnieniem jest zamieszkanie w świątyni miłości Ojca.
PIEROGI
Po raz kolejny można zamówić pierogi z kapustą i serem w cenie
$16 za tuzin i $8 za pół tuzina. Odbiór zamówienia w sobotę 28 marca
w godz. od 14:00 – 17:30. Formularze zamówieniowe są dostępne przy
wejściach do Bazyliki.
BINGO
Zapraszamy parafian i przyjaciół do kafeterii Szkoły Świętego
piątek, 6 marca prosimy członków Rady Parafialnej do pomocy w
organizacji gry.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
zbiórki na Partners in Charity Appeal w naszej parafii. Tegoroczne
można wykorzystać do złożenia swojej ofiary.
ST. JOSEPH POLISH WOMEN’S CLUB
Comiesięczne spotkanie SJPWC odbędzie wie we wtorek 10 marca
o godz. 19:00 w kafeterii.
Aplikację trzeba odebrać osobiście i oddać wypełnioną do Cindy
Gardner.

Nowenna do św. Józefa w tym i przyszłym tygodniu będzie
odprawiana w połączeniu z nabożeństwem rekolekcyjnym. W procesji
z figurę św. Józefa idą członkinie Polish Women’s Club.
CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICE
