Zadanie 1.
1. The material consists of many elements: 2 photos, a picture of a couch, 2 headlines
and a chart presenting the results of a survey. The photos show teenagers spending
their leisure time in a different way. In the first one I can see skiers whilst in the
second a group of dancing. The headlines ask provocative questions about teenagers`
free time activities. The chart presents the results of a survey concerning leisure
activities and proves young people to love doing nothing rather than spend their time
in an active way.
2. The chart shows that the most popular free time activity for teenagers is doing nothing.
I`m quite surprised because me and my friends prefer spending time in an active way.
The least popular is sport, which is also a bit of astonishment as many young people
claim to like doing sport.
3. Parents and teenagers have different attitudes towards the way young people spend
their free time, but that could be expected. Parents want their children to develop their
skills, find an exciting hobby or simply attend extra-curricular activities. Teenagers on
the other hand want to meet their friends, go clubbing and finally have a good time.
For them the most important factor are their peers.
4. I think almost all teenagers love spending their free time with their friends. They like
to go out together, to have a drink and to chat. That is way the second picture presents
more interesting activity for young people. Of course, some teenagers are fond of sport
thus the picture presenting skiing might interest them.
5. I am fond of active way of spending free time. . I really enjoy playing basketball as I
find it exciting. I also like playing volleyball because it is a great fun. I think I enjoy
team sports more than individual because it is great to feel a member of a team and
you can make friends easily. I couldn`t be a couch potato and do nothing.
Zadanie 2.
1. Tourism is probably the most important leisure industry nowadays. The question is: does
tourism benefit a country or does it bring more problems?
One advantage of tourism is that it brings wealth to the people of the country. In addition, it
develops employment for local people.
On the other hand the development of tourism can have disadvantages. Too many tourists can
threaten the local wildlife and environment. What is more, building huge hotels does not
improve the natural beauty of an area.
In conclusion, tourism has both advantages and disadvantages.
2. I agree that we make sport and TV celebrities our role models. The first reason for this is
that we admire wealthy people. Besides via TV and Internet we get a lot of information about
their lives and we start to treat them as our best friends. As for the sports stars some of us look
up to them because of their successes. Knowing how much effort it costs to gain an Olympic
gold medal we start to respect sport celebrities.
I don`t know why we make TV celebrities our role models. In my opinion they are not worth
it. I don`t think their achievements can equal to sportsmen and sportswomen successes. Thus I
admire only the famous sport stars.
