The company Kirchhoff Automotive is a part of Kirchhoff
Group on the global market and is one of the leading suppliers of
metal constructions for the automotive industry employing over
7 000 people in the whole world. The company owns branches in following countries: Germany, China, France, Spain, Ireland, Canada,
Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Hungary and USA. In Poland there are two
locations – in Mielec and in Gliwice. The headquarter is in Germany
in Iserlohn, but there are three other branches. It produces components for world’s most important companies from the automotive
industry: VW, Porsche, Skoda, Volvo, Opel, Ford, Suzuki, Valeo.
The history of Kirchhoff began in 1785 when the production of needles and screwdrivers started. In the year 1984 the branch Kirchhoff
Automotive in Germany, Attendorn was created. In 2010 the company celebrated its 225th anniversary. TASK
The goal of this project was to built a dosing device based on
the Sonderhoff system and an industrial FANUC robot. Additionally
the stand cooperates with an operator who puts parts on a sliding
table. The contracted work included a mechanical and electrical
project and commissioning of the whole device according to the
client’s guidelines. The foam material contains two components:
polyurethane FERMAPOR K31-9030-8 and isocyan as a hardener
FERMAPOR K31-BN which is mixed in a Sonderhoff dosing head
MK400. The FANUC robot is equipped with a dosing head and applies
foam very precisely according to the technical parameters in a strictly
determined position. Main assumptions of this project were: yearly
production of 340 000 elements, working time of this device – 235 days
a year, detection of pins, element after KTL.

BENEFITS
The stand has been additionally equipped with a visualization
using the robot’s operator panel what decreased the cost of this
device. The whole stand has been installed on a steel frame what
makes the device more mobile. The robot makes the stand very flexible. The machine is also very safe thanks to the interesting safety
