call of Elisha, so is the continuation of Jesus’ saving mission assured by the call of
disciples who follow him on his journey through death to life.

conviction, and increase our courage in pursuit of a vision. So it is with the inevitable conflicts
that arise when we follow Jesus on the journey through dying to new life.

Catholic Youth Service Scotland, with the support of the Bishop’s Conference of Scotland
is organizing a WYD style event at Stirling University from 25-28th July 2013, to coincide
with the World Youth Day in Brazil. Cost per person is £200. Parishes have been asked to

St. Patrick Youth Pilgrimage All youth of Aberdeen Diocese aged 12-17
are invited to the summer youth trip organized by St. Mary’s Cathedral.
From August 10-18th the youth and leaders will travel to Ireland, going to;
Glendalough, Clonmacnoise, Kylemore Abbey, climbing Croagh Patrick,
Knock shrine, and the youth summer retreat with 1000 or more young
people at their annual gathering! Don’t miss this ace chance to join with

Na początku wakacji, kiedy wielu rusza na wędrowne szlaki, czytamy
fragment Ewangelii o podróży Jezusa do Jerozolimy. Nie jest to zwykła
wędrówka do Świętego Miasta ani tradycyjna pielgrzymka z racji
święta Paschy (Łk 2,41-50), lecz prawdziwy punkt zwrotny w całej
historii zbawienia. Ewangelista używa mocnych słów, podobnych do
proklamacji publicznej działalności Jezusa w rodzinnym Nazarecie (Łk
4,20n): ”Gdy dopełniły się dni Jego wzięcia [z tego świata], postanowił
udać się do Jeruzalem”. Tekst grecki powiada dosłownie: ”Uczynił
twardym swoje oblicze, żeby wyruszyć do Jerozolimy”.
”Odczuwamy jakiś lęk - wyznaje kard. Martini - gdy przychodzi nam
czytać drugą część Ewangelii [Łukasza]. Są to słowa, które odbierają
dech; to ostrze ewangelicznego diamentu, który może zranić”.
Wędrówka do Świętego Miasta rozpoczyna się od konfrontacji z wrogo
usposobionymi Samarytanami. Nie przyjęto pielgrzymów ze względów
ideologicznych. Wrogość na tle religijnym, fanatyzm, to i dzisiaj częste
powody do nienawiści, terroryzmu i zabijania wielu niewinnych ludzi.
Czasem po prostu zwykłych przechodniów, turystów, pielgrzymów
zdążających do miejsc świętych. To budzi gniew, oburzenie, chęć
zemsty - podobne do reakcji ”synów Gromu” (Jana i Jakuba), którzy
domagają się powtórzenia cudu z czasów proroka Eliasza, by spadł
”ogień z nieba” i ukarał winnych (2 Krl 1,10.14).
Jezus zdecydowanie odrzuca zasadę ”oko za oko”, gromi swoich
uczniów i poleca im iść dalej. Każe szukać nowych dróg, nowych ludzi,
gotowych pójść śladami Księcia Pokoju. Naśladować Chrystusa
oznacza bowiem pójść za Nim najpierw drogą krzyża, drogą
wyrzeczenia, posłuszeństwa, uniżenia, by w końcu móc doświadczyć
światła zmartwychwstania i pełnej radości.
Ewangelista wybiera trzy znamienne wypowiedzi Jezusa, które
ukazują trzy różne odpowiedzi wezwanych do ”pójścia za Nim”.
Pierwszy z kandydatów przypomina postawę Piotra (Łk 22,23 i J
13,36n), którego Jezus ”sprowadza na ziemię”. Naśladowanie to nie
tyle głoszenie doktryny, co przede wszystkim udział w odrzuceniu i
konaniu Mistrza: Jezus ”skłoni głowę” dopiero ”oddając ducha” na
krzyżu (J 19,30). W drugiej scenie Jezusowy nakaz ”pójdź za Mną” (Łk
5,27; 8,39; 9,23n) wyraża pragnienie zdecydowanej i heroicznej
postawy naśladowców i głosicieli królestwa Bożego. ”Zostaw umarłym
grzebanie ich umarłych...”.
Tylko Jezus może udzielić pełni życia, gdy pokona śmierć przez własne
zmartwychwstanie. Prawdziwy uczeń nie zadowala się opłakiwaniem
swych zmarłych, lecz dąży do nowego życia, idąc śladem Mistrza.
Wreszcie postawa trzeciego kandydata przypomina powołanie
Elizeusza (1 Krl 19,19n). Jezus jednak jest bardziej wymagający niż
prorok Eliasz, bowiem bliskość ”królestwa” nie pozwala na ociąganie!
Wszelki kompromis ze światem, wszelka próba ułożenia sobie życia po
swojemu grozi wykluczeniem z królestwa Bożego.
Podczas wakacji będziemy zapewne niejednokrotnie wezwani do
wyznania swojej wiary, do przyznania się do swojego Pana, Jezusa
Chrystusa. Bycie chrześcijaninem nie może zamknąć się w jakiejś
ukrytej deklaracji, ale musi wyrażać się w codziennym życiu i
publicznym wyznawaniu wiary (osobista modlitwa, niedzielna
Eucharystia, miłość bliźniego...). Chrześcijaństwo jest drogą z
Jezusem, stąpaniem po śladach Mistrza z Nazaretu. Nie jest to droga
prosta i łatwa. Trzeba jednak zaufać Temu, który powiedział: ”Weźcie
moje jarzmo na siebie i uczcie się ode Mnie, bo jestem cichy i pokorny
sercem, a znajdziecie ukojenie dla dusz waszych. Albowiem jarzmo
moje jest słodkie, a moje brzemię lekkie” (Mt 11,29n).
