undergoing chemotherapy to an injured military soldier.

Our parish fall blood drive will be on SUNDAY,
OCTOBER 29th in Canning Hall.

God Bless all the people who support St. Ferdinand Parish. I would like to thank all the volunteers who cleaned the
church last week with Sister Hiacynta: Manette, Mike &
Joshua Lill, Carol Marino, Zofia Nicpoń, Kazimierz Sikora,
Jadwiga Maleszko, Danuta Białas, Maria Policht, Zofia
Stepek, Barbara Jagielska, Krystyna Karmowska, Izabela
Nowacki, Zofia Wieczorek, Halina Janczyk and also
Wojciech Nowacki who took care of getting the windows
cleaned.
I would like to invite any and all others to please pitch in
with this effort in the coming weeks as it is ongoing, and we
must not unfairly use those already helping.
I would like to thank all who continue to support our
Building and Maintenance Fund second collection last
week. Thanks to your donations we have now completed the
remodeling in the bathrooms and I think you probobly
agree, they look great.
All the work went smooth and quick thanks to Czekaj
Construction Company.
We still have work being done on the ‘pipes’ between
the church and chapel.
So many people through their generosity show their
gratitude to God for His blessings be stowed upon them. A
special thanks to Andrzej Gilarski for his donation of $600
for us to repleace the altar candles from wax to oil and to a
donor who would like to remain annonymous, who gave us
money to purchase new altar dressings.
Last Saturday, the liturgy for my installation as pastor
with his Excelency Bishop Thomas Paprocki and 31 other
priests, over whelmed me. Thanks you so much to all of you
in attendence and to all who helped in the preparatios
especially the installation committee who took care of both
the mass and reception. Thank you to all the parish
organizations who helped make it a true celebration by their
attendance and with their altar offerings to the parish. This
was a wonderful gesture of care to our Church.
Thank you to everyone who decorated and sang at the
liturgy making it so beautiful to glorify God. May God bless
you for sharing your time, talent and treasures.
May you have a happy and blessed Sunday and the rest
of the week.

Autumn Celebration
The Highlanders Club would like to invite

Ladies of St. Anne — Day of Reflection
All are invited to the Day of Reflection on THURSDAY,
October 26. Fr. Stefanowski will be our moderator.
The day begins with 9:00 a.m. Mass in the Chapel, followed by free coffee, tea and rolls in Canning Hall. Please
bring your own lunch. The day will conclude about 2:00
p.m. Please mark this date on your calendar and plan to
join us for an interesting and inspirational day of reflection.
ALL WET
To repent and not to amend is like paying a debt by
writing a check on water.
Baby Bottle Project
Starting in three weeks, October 28 and 29, we will ask our parishioners to participate in a special fundraiser to
help The Women Center. Your nickels and dimes do make a difference, that is why we ask you to participate in this project. It is easy as one-two-three.
On October 28/29 weekend you will pick up a baby bottle after the Masses. Than you will take it home and any
time you have spare change you can drop it in the bottle. Two weeks later, on November 18/19 weekend you will
return the baby bottle before all the Masses.
Thanks to your spare change, the Women Center can hire counselors who give women the hope and courage that
they need to choose life. The center will also provide free groceries, clothes for women and their children, diapers, toys,
car seats and other financial needs.
This is wonderful opportunity for parishioners of all ages, including children, to be able to work together to support life.
TOWARD HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
From the beginning of creation, God intended for
people to live together in relationship with one another.
Much of scripture shows us how to do this as it illustrates
and clarifies God’s plans. The readings this weekend guide
us in the value and care of our relationships. Specifically, the
Gospel focuses on the circumstances of failed relationships.
Unlike the Pharisees, we would do well not to focus on the
laws that pertain to failed relationships, but concentrate
instead on what God really intended for us. Healthy bonds
require a lot of our time and energy. They certainly require
trust and honesty. Jesus demonstrated a deep commitment to
his friends and to us. As our brother, he gave his very life for
us. Children work hard at friendships. They trust, forgive,
and love without conditions. The final words of today’s
Gospel invite us to welcome Jesus and the people of our
relationships with the fresh enthusiasm of a child.

New Parishioner Registration Drive
Weekend Masses of Oct 21st & 22nd
Why become a registered parishioner at St. Ferdinand Parish?
#1. You become an active member of this great community.
#2. You are assigned a Parishioner number which entitles you to receive Parish envelopes monthly for your contributions. These contributions are tax deductible. By using your envelope weekly the Parish keeps records of your
contributions and when you are preparing your taxes you may receive a total of your contributions to report on your
tax forms and receive credit for them.
#3. Being a registered Parishioner allows you to receive discounts on Parish services when you request them, such
as Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals.
#4. Being a registered Parishioner allows you to pay less school tuition than non-parishioners
What do you need to do?
Fill out the new parishioner form. It basically asks you for your name, address and phone number.
Where do you get the form?
These forms are available in the Rectory. To help simplify this for you we will be holding a new parishioner registration on Saturday, Oct. 21st and Sunday October 22nd in the back of the Church and Chapel after each of the
masses that weekend.
Since there is also a pancake breakfast sponsored by the ushers that weekend there will be forms available at the breakfast too.
Join St. Ferdinand’s, you’ll be glad you did.

#2 Po zarejstrowaniu się dostaniesz koperty z twoim numer i za każdym razem gdy złożysz ofiarę na Kościół używajać
tego numeru, suma jaką ofiarujesz będzie zapisana, a pod koniec roku możesz poprosić o wydruk z podsumowanymi
donacjami by odliczyć je od podatku.
#3 Opłaty za Ślub, Chrzest czy Pogrzeb są niższe dla zarejestrowanych parafian.
#4 Każdy zarejestrowany parafianin płaci niższą opłatę za szkołę
Co powinieneś zrobić by zarejestrować się do parafii?
Należy wypełnić formę rejestracyjną, podając imię, nazwisko, adres i numer telefonu.

Ocal życie poczętemu dziecku przez Duchową Adopcję
Duchowa Adopcja jest modlitewnym zobowiązaniem konkretnej osoby w intencji ocalenia życia dziecka w łonie matki
oraz prawego i sprawiedliwego życia po urodzeniu-dziecka,
którego imię jest znane jedynie Bogu. Jej istotą jest krótka
codzienna modlitwa oraz jedna Tajemnica Różańca odmawiana przez dziewięć miesięcy i ewentualnie podjęte dodatkowe praktyki.
Najczęściej zadawane pytania i odpowiedzi:
Czy można podejmować duchową adopcję bez dodatkowych postanowień?
Tak. Dodatkowe postanowienia nie są obowiązkowe,
choć adoptujący chętnie je podejmują.
Czy jest grzechem, jeżeli danego dnia zapomni się
odmówić modlitwę?
Zapomnienie nie jest grzechem. Grzechem jest świadome i
dobrowolne zlekceważenie składanego Bogu przyrzeczenia.
Czy przerywa się duchową adopcję, gdy
zaniedbało się modlitwę przez dłuższy czas?
Długa przerwa (miesiąc, dwa) przerywa duchową
adopcję. Należy wtedy ponowić przyrzeczenie i starać
się je dotrzymać. W wypadku kr6tkiej przerwy należy
duchową adopcję kontynuować, przedłużając
modlitwy o opuszczone dni.
Czy duchową adopcję mogą podejmować osoby żyjące w
związkach niesakramentalnych?
Kto może podejmować duchową adopcję ?
Tak, podobnie jak i osoby rozwiedzione.
Każdy - osoby świeckie, konsekrowane, mężczyźni,
kobiety, ludzie w każdym wieku. Jedynie dzieci
podejmują pod opieką rodziców.
Czy przyrzeczenia duchowej adopcji muszą być składane
w formie uroczystej, wyłącznie w kościele w obecności
kapłana?
Czy można adoptować więcej niż jedno dziecko?
Duchowa adopcja dotyczy jednego dziecka.
Wskazane jest, by przyrzeczenia były przeprowadzane
uroczyście, chociaż można je złożyć także prywatnitnie.

Składamy podziękowanie tym wszystkim, którzy złożyli ofiary w ostatni weekend na tzw. Funduszu naprawy
i rozbudowy. Dzięki dotychczasowym ofiarom mogliśmy rozpocząć niezbędne prace remontowe w budynku kościoła,
gdzie zostały wyremontowane łazienki. Prace szybko i bardzo starannie zostały wykonane przez Czekaj Constraction
Company. Na posesji parafialnej prowadzone są nadal prace przy wymianie linii ciepłowniczej oraz częściowej
wymianie i zabezpieczeniu istniejącej instalacji elektrycznej. Wiele osób poprzez swoje hojne ofiary wyraża troskę o
parafię i wdzięczność Bogu za te dary, którymi On nas obdarza na codzień. Do tych wszystkich podziękowań chciałem
dołączyć podziękowanie dla Andrzeja Gilarskiego, który złożył ofiarę $600 na wymianę istniejących świeczników przy
głównym ołtarzu z świec woskowych na olejowe oraz osobie, która chciała pozostać bezimienną za zakupienie pięknych
obrusów na ołtarze do naszego kościoła.
W ostatnią sobotę odbyła się moja instalacja na proboszcza Parafii św. Ferdynanda, której przewodniczył ksiądz
Biskup Tomasz Paprocki wraz 31 kapłanami. Serdecznie dziękuję wszystkim, którzy wzięli udział w tej uroczystości

ON MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE

One of my co-workers told me recently that she’s not sure how much more of it she can take. Seems her husband has been
home these past few weeks recuperating from surgery and the guy is driving her crazy by being critical in some instances of
the way she does things around the house. I immediately recalled a story from years prior when a woman complaining of the
same thing called the radio talk show that I was listening to. She said that her husband--just retired--had begun criticizing her
for the way she folded the laundry. The woman ranted on-air that she had been folding the laundry the exact same way through
forty years of marriage, and now, he’s complaining?
Mom used to complain to me about Dad all the time. Out of his earshot, or course. Her point was that Dad was always at
her side and she just wanted to be left alone. I often sensed that her complaining was tongue-in-cheek, though. My folks had
their problems, sure, but they really seemed to get along, those two. Jean and Jim. All I know is that I grew up (and old) seeing
them side-by-each: over coffee at the kitchen table; over dishes at the kitchen sink; over a hospital bed, when dad took ill; and
over a coffin when my father bent down to kiss his bride goodbye. It was a heart-breakingly gentle kiss, and just thinking
about it now brings those warm tears that still surprise me whenever they fall.
Per Mohandas Ghandi, “The ideal that marriage aims at is that of spiritual union through the physical…” and per Sammy
Cahn, love and marriage “…Go together like a horse and carriage.” OK. It’s nice to look at matrimony on both an esoteric and
a colloquial level. But I need only embrace my memories of Mom and Dad to tell you what marriage means to me. I wrote a
Father’s Day poem for Pop several years before he passed away, and one of the lines is this: “…in a way I cannot understand, I
love my wife because he cherishes my mother.” If the old saying is true that the greatest gift a father can give his children is to
love their mother, then I have been so gifted.
“Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his wife?” the Pharisees ask Jesus in today’s Gospel. Jesus acknowledges that Moses
wrote a divorce law for them, but only because of their hard-heartedness. Still, I have some divorced friends, and these are
compassionate, caring people. I’m not sure where the love goes, but I’ve seen plenty of tears spilled when a vow made before
God years earlier is replaced by so much legalese and so many debates of who gets what. “Therefore,” Jesus adds, “what God
has joined together, no human being must separate.” What sounds so easy can become something quite complicated and
complex. My father, a bit of a poet himself, wrote an anniversary poem for Mom years ago, closing his verse with the lines:
“So in the end, I love you honey/And it sure beats paying alimony.” Certainly, though, it goes far, far deeper than that.
Laundry-folding habits aside, I raise my glass this day to the marriages of good women to good men everywhere. Long live
the love. Amen.
