Szanowni Pañstwo, Drogie Kole¿anki i Koledzy,
Z radoœci¹ oddajemy w Wasze rêce trzeci numer „Psychogeriatrii Polskiej”, który przygotowany
zosta³ z okazji 32th European Association of Geriatric Psychiatry, odbywaj¹cego siê w tym
roku w dniach 23-25 wrzeœnia w Oslo. Mo¿liwoœæ uczestniczenia, poprzez t¹ edycjê
czasopisma, w tak wa¿nym wydarzeniu, stanowi dla Redakcji du¿e wyró¿nienie. Niech
œwiadczy to równie¿ o naszym sta³ym d¹¿eniu, by „Psychogeriatria Polska”, której numer
zerowy powsta³ dla potrzeb organizowanego we Wroc³awiu 31 Kongresu EAGP, by³a platform¹ wymiany myœli dla klinicystów i naukowców z ca³ej Europy.
Temu celowi s³u¿yæ ma równie¿ publikowanie artyku³ów angielskojêzycznych, wprowadzenie
mo¿liwoœci prenumeraty on- line, a tak¿e starania Redakcji o jak najszybsze zarejestrowanie
kwartalnika w EMBASE / Excerpta Medica. Równoczeœnie pragniemy poinformowaæ, ¿e
czasopismo „Psychogeriatria Polska” otrzyma³o 3 punkty KBN, co stanowi najwy¿sz¹ mo¿liw¹
ocenê dla czasopisma w pierwszym roku wydawania.
Mamy nadziejê, i¿ zabiegi te przybli¿¹ pismo czytelnikom zagranicznym, a jednoczeœnie
stan¹ siê dla nas czynnikiem mobilizuj¹cym, aby kwartalnik uzyska³ miêdzynarodow¹ rangê.
Trzeci numer „Psychogeriatrii Polskiej” sk³ada siê z dwóch czêœci. W pierwszej zamieszczone
zosta³y artyku³y cz³onków Rady Naukowej, cenionych specjalistów z tej dziedziny psychiatrii.
Druga czêœæ to program zjazdu oraz streszczenia/abstrakty prac wyg³aszanych podczas 32
Kongresu EAGP.
Zachêcam Pañstwa do prenumeraty czasopisma i publikowania swoich prac. ¯yczê wszystkim
Czytelnikom trzeciego numeru „ Psychogeriatrii Polskiej” ciekawej i po¿ytecznej lektury, a
uczestnikom 32 Kongresu EAGP owocnych obrad i mi³ych wra¿eñ z pobytu w piêknej stolicy
Norwegii.

From the Editor
It is with unconcealed joy that we offer our readers this third issue of the Polish Journal of
Old Age Psychiatry, the more so that it has been specially published for the occasion of the
32nd Congress of the European Association of Geriatric Psychiatry, which is taking place this
year in Oslo, Norway, on 23-25 September, 2004. The opportunity to take part in such an
important event, through this special edition of our fledgling journal, is a great honor for the
entire editorial staff.
Let this be a sign, too, of our constant aspiration for the Polish Journal of Old Age Psychiatry
– whose “zero” issue was published for the 31st EAGP Congres in Wroclaw a year ago – to
become a forum for the exchange of ideas among clinicians and scientists from all of Europe. This goal is also served by the publication of articles in English, the introduction of online subscriptions, and the editorial staff’s efforts to have our new journal registered in
EMBASE / Excerpta Medica at the earliest possible date. In the meantime, we are pleased to
announce that the Polish Journal of Old Age Psychiatry has received a rating of 3.0 from the
Polish State Comitee for Scientific Research, the highest rating that can be received by a
journal in its first year of publication.
We sincerely hope that these initiatives will make our journal more accessible to an international readership, and by the same token will mobilize us to ensure that our quarterly
attains truly international status.
This third issue of the Polish Journal of Old Age Psychiatry consists of two parts. The first
part contains articles contributed by members of our Editorial Board, noted specialists in
this branch of psychiatry. The second part consists of the program and the abstracts of the
papers that will be delivered during this 32nd EAGP Congress.
We invite all of you to subscribe to our journal (you will find the subscription price remarkably low), and to publish your work with us. And at the same time, we would like to express
our best wishes, that all our readers will find something interesting and useful in this issue
of the Polish Journal of Old Age Psychiatry, and that all the participants in the 32nd EAGP
Congress will have a good meeting, and will take home many fond memories of our stay in
the lovely capital of Norway.
