THE WAYS OF LOVE
One can feel the energy of a young, growing church in today’s first reading. For Paul
and Barnabas, it’s smooth sailing. For the
sponsoring church at Antioch, good news.
The second reading—a vision—offers a picture of triumph, pure and simple. We might
paraphrase God’s direct words to read: “Don’t you see? I make
all things new!”
The young church remains new and young to this day if and
when it follows the command Jesus lays down in the Gospel:
“Love one another.” The attitude and actions of love define the
disciples and identify them with their master. Every person on
this earth can be a disciple. For discipleship does not depend on
learning or sophistication or age or arcane knowledge of secret
cults. We are asked to study and practice the ways of love, right

FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH
First Friday of the month will be observed on May 3rd. Parishioners and members of the Sacred Heart Society are invited
to the 7:00am Mass, designated for all deceased members. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin after Mass. All
members of the Sacred Heart Society are invited to participate
and recite the usual prayers with the Litany to Sacred Heart of
Jesus.
Scheduled adorers are asked to participate during the day
and adoration will conclude at 3:00pm with the praying of the
Chaplet to the Divine Mercy and benediction.
Mass in the Polish language will be celebrated at 7:00pm.

DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
This weekend the Statue of St. Joseph will be placed in the
sanctuary at all the masses. May 1st is the Feast, in the universal Church, of St. Joseph the Worker. It is appropriate to inaugurate this Novena on this particular day which will be celebrated with Mass every Wed., of the year at 7:00pm. Each
week members of different organizations will assist in this Novena and Mass. On the first day of this special Novena, May
1st, we ask members of St. Joseph Polish Womens Club to be
present with their banners and wearing their medals. St. Joseph
will be carried from the Our Lady of Czestochowa chapel to
the sanctuary. On the wall of the chapel there is a box to place
your intentions. Please designate if you wish your intentions to
be read aloud or known only to the celebrant during the Novena. Note: please print your intentions legibly. This Novena
coincides with May devotions. May I ask all parishioners and
friends to take advantage of this opportunity to receive graces
through the intercession of our powerful Patron, St. Joseph.
MAY DEVOTIONS
In the tradition of the Church, the month of May is dedicated
to Our Blessed Mother. The devotional piety of the people for
centuries surrounded this month with a variety of prayer services and decorational traditions. The most common prayer is
the Litany of Loreto which people sing in the churches and
chapels. Fresh flowers of May are used to decorate images of
the Blessed Mother indoors and outdoors.
Bi-lingual devotions at our Basilica will be held on a daily
basis at 7:00pm.
CROWNING OF THE STATUE OF BLESSED MOTHER
This year’s crowning will take place on Monday, May 6th at
7:00pm. It has been a tradition that the children of St. Joseph
School, our religious education classes and especially the First
Communion Class participate. We kindly ask that they come in
their official attire to honor the Blessed Mother and to dedicate
their life to her motherly care. We request that all the altar
servers, Children of Mary, parish organizations, parish ministries and parishioners take part in this para liturgical celebration. All participants should gather in the school parking lot to
process to the church. After devotions the First Communion
Class is invited to the rectory for an ice cream party.
FIRST EUCHARIST CELEBRATION
Next Sunday, May 5th we will celebrate First Holy Communion at the 12:30pm liturgy for students of St. Joseph School
and Religious Education Class. We invite parents, grandparents, godparents and friends to join us for this very special day
in the life of these children. We kindly ask that
parents make this day unique and dignified to foster positive
memories for their child and above all we ask the Basilica community to pray for them that they will consider participation in
the Eucharist and Holy Communion as a highlight of their life.
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
The monthly devotion to the Divine Mercy will be held on
Sunday, May 5th at 3:00pm. Please join us for the recitation of
the chaplet followed by benediction.

1st at 7:00pm at the PAV.

ST. ANNE SODALITY
The St. Anne Sodality at St. Joseph Basilica dates back to the
beginning of our parish. Many of our parishioners seek God’s
blessing through the intercession of St. Anne. Also, many
families dedicate their infants on this day to the care of St.
Anne who was the mother of Mary.
During our current annual membership drive we are seeking
new members to join and reap the benefits of this fine organization. Our installation Mass will be held at 8:15am on July 28th.

PIĄTA NIEDZIELA WIELKANOCNA

„Oto przybytek Boga z ludźmi: i zamieszka wraz z nimi.” (Ap 21, 3)
ZAPROSZENI DO OJCA
Świętowanie Wielkanocy jest nie tylko
celebracją zmartwychwstania Chrystusa,
ale także zapowiedzią i obietnicą
ostatecznego triumfu królestwa Bożego na
końcu czasów. Jest to jednocześnie
obietnica spełnienia naszych najgłębszych
tęsknot za miłością i trwałym szczęściem. Jesteśmy zaproszeni
do tego, by już tu, na ziemi, zacząć wchodzić w tę
rzeczywistość. Każda Eucharystia jest objawieniem darmowej i
nieskończonej miłości Boga. Możemy ją przyjąć i pozwolić, by
przemieniała nas ona wewnętrznie i czyniła coraz bardziej
podobnymi do Chrystusa.
PIERWSZY PIĄTEK MIESIĄCA
Pierwszy piątek miesiąca przypada na 3 maja. Adoracja
Najświętszego Sakramentu rozpocznie się po Mszy św. o godz.
7:30 (powracamy do poprzedniego sposobu adoracji).
Wszystkich członków Sacred Heart Society Zapraszamy na
Mszę św. o godz. 7:00, która będzie odprawiana w intencji
zmarłych członków Stowarzyszenia. Adoracja potrwa do
godziny 15:00 i zostanie zakończona wspólna Koronką do
Bożego Miłosierdzia.
Druga kolekta w następną niedzielę będzie przeznaczona
na Zobowiązani Diecezjalne.

PIERWSZA KOMUNIA ŚWIĘTA
W najbliższą niedzielę będziemy celebrowali Uroczystość
Pierwszej Komunii Świętej. Msza św. rozpocznie się o godz.
12:30. Zapraszamy rodziców, dziadków i krewnych do udziału
w tak ważnym dla dzieci przyjmujących Komunie Świętą dniu.
Zachęcamy rodziców, aby uczynili ten dzień wyjątkowym dla
swoich dzieci, tak by w ich pamięci pozostały jak najmilsze
wspomnienia i pozytywne wrażenia. Prosimy również parafian
o otoczenie naszych dzieci modlitewną pamięcią.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
Partners in charity nadal trwa. Dziękujemy wszystkim
ofiarodawcom za dotychczas złożone ofiary, które będą służyły
wielu potrzebującym ludziom. Jeśli jeszcze nie złożyliście
swoich ofiar ten zbożny cel, możecie to jeszcze uczynić
używając specjalnych kopert znajdujących się w ławkach.
Prosimy również o modlitwę w intencji potrzebujących to
patronki tegorocznej akcji św. Kateri Tekakwitha.
NABOŻEŃSTWA MAJOWE
Dzisiejszej niedzieli na wszystkich Mszach zostanie
zaprezentowana figurka św. Józefa, która będzie nam
przypominać naszego św. Patrona. Pierwszego maja (w środę)
będziemy obchodzili święto św. Józefa Rzemieślnika. To
doskonały dzień, aby rozpocząć specjalną Nowennę, którą
będziemy odprawiali w każdą środę w połączeniu z Mszą św. o
godz. 19:00. Każdego tygodnia członkowie innej organizacji
parafialnej będą asystowali w nabożeństwie i procesji
połączonej z Nowenną. Na pierwszą Nowennę zapraszamy
członków St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club. Figurka św. Józefa
będzie przenoszona w procesji z kaplicy Matki Bożej
Częstochowskiej do prezbiterium na początku Mszy św. i tak
samo zanoszona w uroczystej procesji
do kaplicypo
zakończeniu nabożeństwa. Na ścianie kaplicy znajduje się
specjalna skrzynka, gdzie można składać intencje, w których
będziemy się modlić w czasie Nowenny.
W tradycji Kościoła miesiąc maj jest szczególnie poświęcony
Matce Bożej. Pobożność w tym miesiącu przejawia się w wielu
rodzajach nabożeństw i w podkreślaniu znaczenia Maryi w
naszej duchowości poprzez dekorowanie i upiększanie Jej
obrazów i figur. Najbardziej znaną modlitwą jest Litania
Loretańska, którą śpiewa się w kościołach i kaplicach a w
Polsce również przy przydrożnych kaplicach Matki Bożej. W
naszej Bazylice nabożeństwa majowe będą się odbywały o
godz. 19:00. Natomiast Nabożeństwo Koronacji Maryi
odbędzie się w poniedziałek 6 maja o godz. 19:00. Do udziału
w tym nabożeństwie zapraszamy Dzieci Maryi, dzieci
pierwszokomunijne oraz ministrantów. Uczestników prosimy
do zgromadzenia się przed liturgią na parkingu szkolnym.
NIEDZIELA MIŁOSIERDZIA
Na następną niedzielę przypada pierwsza niedziela miesiąca.
Koronka do Miłosierdzia Bożego rozpocznie się o godz.15: 00.
Zapraszamy parafian do udziału w tym szczególnym spotkaniu
modlitewnym.

WIADOMOŚCI FESTIWALOWE
W poniedziałek 29 kwietnia o godz. 18: 30 w szkolnej
kafeterii odbędzie się bardzo ważne spotkanie związane z
festiwalem. Wszystkich zainteresowanych pomocą lub
wsparciem organizacji festiwalu zachęcamy do przyłączenia się

CO OZNACZA POBOŻNOŚĆ MARYJNA?
Ilekroć rozpoczyna się miesiąc maj, a w świątyniach i przy
figurach oraz przydrożnych krzyżach rozsianych na polskiej
ziemi lud gromko śpiewa Chwalcie łąki umajone... i recytuje
Litanię Loretańską rodzi się refleksja nad rolą kultu maryjnego
w całokształcie życia Kościoła i pojawiają się pytania nie tylko
o to, na ile jest on potrzebny i pomocny w kształtowaniu
pobożności, ale także, jakimi zasadami powinien się on
kierować, by był poprawny pod względem teologicznym.
Tradycja Kościoła, ale i współczesna myśl teologiczna
wyrażona w oficjalnym nauczaniu papieży, jednoznacznie
potwierdzają walor pobożności maryjnej i widzą dla Maryi
właściwe i nieodzowne miejsce w całokształcie doktryny
chrześcijańskiej, a Jej uwielbianie nie budzi wątpliwości i jest
uzasadnione rzeczowo i teologicznie. W historię zbawienia
wyraźnie przecież jest wpisana Maryja, Matka Słowa
Wcielonego. Jej rola w jednaniu ludzi i świata z Bogiem ma
wyjątkowy charakter, ponieważ – jak uczy nas Sobór – „Syn
Boży przyjął z Niej ludzką naturę, by przez tajemnicę ciała
swego uwolnić człowieka od grzechu” (KK 55). Można jeszcze
inaczej powiedzieć, że katolicyzm naznaczony rysem
maryjnym nie ubliża i nie pomniejsza kultowi Jedynego Boga,
ani jedynemu pośrednictwu zbawczemu Chrystusa, lecz
bardziej to uwypukla. Maryja łączy się przecież ze wszystkimi
zbawczymi misteriami Chrystusa: Ona Go zrodziła i otrzymała
dlatego imię Matki Boga, tj. Syna Bożego w Jego ludzkiej,
przybranej naturze.
Bywa niestety, że w praktyce kościelnej, a zwłaszcza w
różnych formach kultu obecnych w tzw. pobożności ludowej
źle stawiane są akcenty, przez co rola Maryi ulega
