Take part in the walking tour “Discover the Old Town of Vilnius”. Tours are organized daily from
15 May to 15 September at 11:00 – in English – Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays;
in German – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; in Russian – Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

wtorki, piątki i soboty.

The museum presents one of the biggest archaeology displays in Europe called “Lithuanian
Prehistory”. The display contains unique exhibits of Baltic culture that reflect Lithuanian culture
from the appearance of the first inhabitants in the territory of the country in 11th century BC
till the formation of Lithuanian state in 13th century.

The exposition presents models of the Vilnius castle complex including the second half of
the 14th century and the beginning of the 17th century as well as armaments of the time.
There is an exposition to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Baltic Way. The tower is an
observation deck overlooking the city skyline.

In 1503, due to the possible outside threats, the Grand Duke of Lithuania Alexander (14921506) granted permission to build a defensive wall around Vilnius. At the first half of 17th century, while strengthening the wall, a defensive bastion – a fortification comprised of a tower,
semi-circular artillery wall and a connecting tunnel – was built at Bokštas hill.
Als von außen Feinde drohten, hat der litauische Großfürst Alexander (1492–1506) der Bitte der
Bewohner von Vilnius stattgegeben und mit dem Privileg von 1503 den Bau der Wehrmauer
genehmigt. In der ersten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts wurde die Wehrmauer verstärkt und auf
dem Berg des Turmes die Bastei gebaut: ein Fortifikationsbau aus dem Erdreich und Mauer
mit der Schutzfunktion, bestehend aus einem Turm, dem Artillerie-Teil und einem sie beide
verbindenden Tunnel.
Z powodu zagrożenia ze strony wrogów zewnętrznych, wielki książę litewski Aleksander (14921506) przywilejem z 1503 r. zezwolił na budowę muru obronnego, tym zadowalając prośbę
mieszkańców Wilna. Po wzmocnieniu murów obronnych w I połowie XVII w., na górze Bakszta
wybudowano basteję – budowlę fortyfikacyjną, umocnioną murem oraz fosą, składającą się z
niskiej baszty w kształcie podkowy, służącej dla artylerii, oraz łączącego tunelu.
Из-за угрозы со стороны внешних врагов в 1503 году великий князь литовский Александр
(1492-1506) удовлетворил просьбу жителей Вильнюса о строительстве оборонительной
стены. В первой половине XVII века усиливая стену на горе Бокшто была построена бастея
– укрепленное земельно-кирпичное защитное фортификационное сооружение, состоящее из башни, части для артиллерии и соединяющего их туннеля.

Since 1994, the Vilnius Picture Gallery has been located in the restored Chodkevičiai Palace
– one of the most impressive and stylish ensembles of late Classicism in Vilnius. The gallery
exhibits the largest and most valuable collection of old Lithuanian art (16th–19th centuries)
in the country.

The Radvila Palace Museum as an art gallery was opened in 1990 in the western block of the
renovated mid-seventeenth century residence of Duke Jonušas Radvila. The museum presents
a foreign art exposition, organizes exhibitions of the most famous Lithuanian and foreign artists.

The Museum exhibits the collection of works donated to Lithuania by world-famous painter,
Vytautas Kasiulis (1918-1995). Visitors are introduced to a unique collection of nearly 200 paintings, graphic works and drawings, also documentary material from Vytautas Kasiulis family
archive and the restored workshop of the painter in Paris.

There is a building in the centre of Vilnius, where the Soviet security services known as the
KGB operated for 50 years. In the Museum you can see authentic prison cells and expositions,
which show the brutality of the invaders and the persistent Lithuanian struggle for freedom.

The territory of the Tuskulėnai Manor is a place that witnessed the brutality and cruelty of
Soviet invaders. Here, people who were killed during executions in the internal NKGB–MGB
prison were secretly buried in 1944–1947. Today their remains are resting in the chapel-columbarium.
Das Gelände des Gutshofes in Tuskulėnai ist ein Ort, der Zeugnis ablegt über die Brutalität
und die Gräueltaten der sowjetischen Okkupanten. Zwischen 1944 und 1947 wurden hier die
im Innenhof durch den KGB zum Tode Verurteilten hingerichtet und heimlich verscharrt. Ihre

sowieckich okupantów. W latach 1944–1947 zostały tu w tajemnicy pogrzebane osoby skazane na karę śmierci i zamordowane w więzieniu NKGB (MGB). Obecnie ich szczątki spoczywają
w kaplicy-kolumbarium.

The museum is located in historic Vilnius Railway Station Passenger House built in the 19th
century. You will find authentic exhibits and models in the exhibition hall. Small trains playfully
rolling in the Models Hall will give you a lot of joy.

Ausstellungraum erwarten Sie authentische Ausstellungsstücke und Modelle. Im Saal der Modelle finden Sie Freude an den spielerisch rollenden Zügen.

Vilnius. The Industrial history of Vilnius helps us understand what it really is – a diverse, modern
European city and the industrial centre of Lithuania with ordinary workers and their routines.

The Museum is housed in the former residential building of Markučiai manor which belonged
to the family of Grigory Pushkin – son of poet Alexander Pushkin. The memorial exposition of
the Museum reveals the authentic household of Russian squires who lived in Vilnius in the late
19th and early 20th centuries.
Das Museum befindet sich im ehemaligen Wohnhaus des Gutsbesitzes der Familie des Sohns
von Alexander Puschkin Grigorij im Stadtteil Markučiai. Die Memorialexposition des Museums
widerspiegelt den authentischen Haushalt und die Wohnbedingungen des russischen Gutsbesitzers in Vilnius Anfang des 19. Jh. bis Ende des 20. Jh.

The first Toy Museum in Lithuania presents history of toys from the Middle Ages to the present
day in the same place. In the museum, three interactive expositions – „The Oldest Lithuanian
Toys“, „Playing the Stone Age“ and „Memories of the 20th century“, are created for children,
students, parents and visitors who like toy theme.
Im ersten Spielzeugmuseum Litauens wird die Spielzeuggeschichte vom Mittelalter bis zum
heutigen Tag an einem Ort präsentiert. Für Kinder, Studenten, Eltern und Spielzeugliebhaber
wurden drei interaktive Ausstellungen vorbereitet: „Das älteste litauische Spielzeug“, „Wir spielen die Steinzeit“ und „Die Erinnerrungen des 20. Jahrhunderts“.
W pierwszym na Litwie Muzeum Zabawek przedstawiono historię zabawek poczynając od
Średniowiecza aż po dzień dzisiejszy. Dla dzieci, studentów, rodziców i miłośników zabawek
stworzono trzy interaktywne ekspozycje: „Najdawniejsze litewskie zabawki”, „Bawimy się w kamienny wiek” i „Wspomnienia XX w.”.
В первом в Литве Музее игрушек представлена история игрушек, начиная со средних веков до наших дней. Для детей и родителей, студентов и просто интересующихся историей
игрушек посетителей созданы три интерактивные экспозиции: «Самые старые игрушки

Der Botanische Garten der Universität Vilnius ist nicht nur der größte in Litauen (Gesamtfläche:
199 ha), sondern auch der reichste durch seine Pflanzenkollektionen: hier wachsen Pflanzen
mit ca. 10 000 Bezeichnungen, die zu 886 Gattungen gehören. Hier gibt es die zahlreichsten
und eindruckvollsten Kollektionen von Rhododendren, Fliedern, Kletterpflanzen, Pfingstrosen,
Dahlien und Zwiebelpflanzen.
Ogród Botaniczny Uniwersytetu Wileńskiego jest nie tylko największym na Litwie (powierzchnia ogólna wynosi 199 ha), ale ma też najbogatszą kolekcję roślin: rośnie tu około 10 000 ich
gatunków, należących do 886 rodzin. Najsłynniejsze i najcenniejsze kolekcje to rododendrony,
bzy, liany, piwonie, georginie i kwiaty cebulowe.
Ботанический сад Вильнюсского университета не только самый большой в Литве (общая
