Parish notice
Within the past few weeks, work has
been completed on the installation of our new furnace.
This new furnace will enable us to burn oil or gas
whichever is more economical. Gas lines still need to be
installed for this purpose. The cost of the new Church
furnace was $29,250. We sincerity thank those who have
already contributed on this behalf and ask all our
generous parishioners to help us pay this cost completely.
Additional envelopes can be found at the entrance of the
church. Please write your name on the envelopes in order
to receive proper recognition of your valuable
participation. So far we have collected $13,000.

został wymieniony w naszym kosciele
piec do
ogrzewania systemem gazowym lub olejowym. W
najbliższym czasie zostanie doprowadzony gaz. Koszt
zakupu nowego pieca to $29,250. Dziękujemy wszystkim,
którzy złożyli już ofiarę na ten cel, a zarazem prosimy
naszych parafian o wsparcie ,abysmy mogli uregulować
należnosci. Koperty na ten cel zostały włożone do
biuletynów, można będzie je również znaleźć przy
wejsciu do koscioła. Prosimy o umieszczenie imienia i
nazwiska na kopercie; w ten sposób każda donacja będzie
mogła być zaksięgowana w naszym systemie. Jak na
razie zebralismy $13,000. Dziękujemy wszystkim za
zaangażowanie się w życie naszej parafii. Bóg zapłać!

Diocesan Celebration of Marriage
Anniversaries The Mass will commemorate
Jubileusze małżeńskie w naszej
Diecezji odbędą sie w kosciele Teresy w
significant marriage anniversaries ending in „0” or „5”
beginning with 15 years. Mass will be held at Saint
Theresa church, Trumbull, on October 14th at 3PM. You
will renew your marriage vows and be presented with
commemorative certificates. Couples who have or will be
celebrating an anniversary ending in „0” or „5” beginning
with 15 or anyone celebrating 50 plus years during the
month of July- -December are invited to register with
their parish by September 30.

Our Parish Eucharistic Adoration wil be
held on September 28, 29 and 30. More information will
appear in next bulletin.
On the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross
(or Triumph of the Cross) we honor the Holy Cross by
which Christ redeemed the world. The public veneration
of the Cross of Christ originated in the fourth century,
according to early accounts, beginning with the
miraculous discovery of the cross on September 14, 326,
by Saint Helen, mother of Constantine, while she was on
a pilgrimage to Jerusalem -- the same day that two
churches built at the site of Calvary by Constantine were
dedicated. The observance of the Feast of the Exaltation
(probably from a Greek word meaning "bringing to light")
of the Cross has been celebrated by Christians on
September 14 ever since. In the Western Church, the feast
came into prominence in the seventh century, apparently
inspired by the recovery of a portion of the Cross, said to
have been taken from Jerusalem the Persians, by the
Roman emperor Heraclius in 629. Christians "exalt" the
Cross of Christ as the instrument of our salvation.
Adoration of the Cross is, thus, adoration of Jesus Christ,
the God Man, who suffered and died on this Roman
instrument of torture for our redemption from sin and
death. The cross represents the One Sacrifice by which
Jesus, obedient even unto death, accomplished our
salvation. The cross is a symbolic summary of the
Passion, Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ -- all in
one image. The Cross -- because of what it represents -- is
the most potent and universal symbol of the Christian
faith. It has inspired both liturgical and private devotions:
for example, the Sign of the Cross, which is an invocation
of the Holy Trinity; the "little" Sign of the Cross on head,
lips and heart at the reading of the Gospel; praying the
Stations (or Way) of the Cross; and the Veneration of the
Cross by the faithful on Good Friday by kissing the feet
of the image of Our Savior crucified.

w naszej parafii będzie miało miejsce od
piątku 28 wrzesnia do niedzieli 30 wrzesnia.

Podwyższenia Krzyża Świętego (także:
Pańskiego) – święto obchodzone zarówno w kościele
zachodnim jak i wschodnim, związane z tradycją
odnalezienia relikwii krzyża, na którym umarł Jezus
Chrystus. Jest on dla chrześcijan największą relikwią.
Nabożeństwa ku jego czci sięgają początków
chrześcijaństwa. Przed reformą liturgii wrześniowe
święto poświęcone było wspomnieniu podwyższenia
Krzyża zaś 3 maja cały Kościół czcił pamiątkę jego
znalezienia. Papież Jan XXIII zniósł święto krzyża
Chrystusowego obchodzone 3 maja jako niepotrzebne
powtórzenie, a odnowiony kalendarz rzymski jako święto
Podwyższenia Krzyża przyjął dzień 14 września.W
kościołach obrządku wschodniego, w których nadal w
użyciu jest kalendarz juliański, święto to obchodzone jest
14 września według kalendarza juliańskiego, co według
kalendarza gregoriańskiego przypada 27
września.Tradycja przypisuje odnalezienie Krzyża św.
Helenie, matce cesarza Konstantyna Wielkiego, w 326
roku. Relikwie złożone zostały w bazylice Grobu
Świętego w Jerozolimie. Od tamtej pory były uroczyście
czczone przez wiernych przybywających z całego świata
chrześcijańskiego. Okres ten zakończyło zdobycie
Jerozolimy 20 maja 614 roku przez króla perskiego
Chosroesa II. Persowie zburzyli świątynię a relikwie
Krzyża zabrali z Jerozolimy.W 628 roku cesarz
bizantyjski Herakliusz pokonał Persów i odzyskał święte
relikwie. Cesarz sam wniósł je uroczyście do Jerozolimy
wchodząc do miasta przez Bramę Złotą. Jak mówi
legenda, cesarz niosąc Krzyż ubrany był w drogocenne
szaty i nie mógł udźwignąć Krzyża aby wejść do miasta.
Dopiero kiedy za poradą biskupa Jerozolimy Zachariasza
zdjął bogaty strój, idąc boso wniósł Krzyż aż do
odbudowywanej po zniszczeniu Bazyliki.
