Edition 146 - 24 September 2013 Looking ahead to... who will be World Athlete of the Year The beginning of October will mark the opening of the voting process for the 2013 World Athletes of the Year ahead of the International Athletics Foundation World Athletics Gala on Saturday 16 November 2013. A list of 10 male and 10 female candidates will firstly be selected by an international panel of athletics experts and announced by the IAAF. The panel includes representatives from all six continental areas of the IAAF. An email poll involving the World Athletics Family will then commence, opening on Tuesday 1 October and closing on Sunday 27 October, midnight CET. At the conclusion of the voting process, three male and three female finalists will be selected and announced by the IAAF. The Council of the International Athletics Foundation will then select the male and female World Athletes of the Year from the finalists with the announcement of the winners taking place live on stage during a special ceremony in Monaco during the 2013 World Athletics Gala. ..
