DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
Jesus told Sister Faustina: “The First Sunday after Easter is
to be the Feast of Mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be
a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor
sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy
are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those
souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that
will go to confession and receive Holy Communion shall
obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On
that day are open all the divine floodgates through which
graces flow. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
The second Sunday of Easter is designated
in the Universal Church as Mercy Sunday.
All parishes have special novenas or
prayers every day asking God’s Mercy for
ourselves and the world.
This Sunday afternoon we conclude our
nine-day novena to Divine Mercy at 3 pm
with services including the exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament, singing of the chaplet and benediction. I kindly
encourage all the parishioners and organizations to take
part in this Mercy Hour in our Basilica.
EASTER REFLECTION
Easter Sunday, which commemorates the Resurrection of
Jesus, is the celebration of new life. In our Basilica the
sacred Triduum was filled with people in numerous
devotional services. I always enjoy meeting people from
different towns and states and again this year I was pleased
to greet people from Adams, MA, Hartford, CT,
Providence, RI, Manchester, NH and Worcester, who
wanted to celebrate with us the most important solemnity
of the year.
We owe special gratitude to the Altar Guild under the
leadership of Sylvia Kitka for preparing and decorating the
church. We are grateful to our adult and children choirs for
providing inspirational music and to our organist Robert
Wojcik for his leadership and countless rehearsals. I would
like to thank the parish organizations, ministries and altar
servers for their assistance to make Easter day uplifting,
rewarding and joyful.
CATHOLIC YOUTH GROUP
Passion Play Thank You - Thank you to everyone who
participated or attended the Youth Group’s Passion Play on
Good Friday. It was wonderful to see such a large crowd
and the kids really appreciated it. Thank you once again to
all the kids for their dedication and hard work. Great job!
Next Youth Mass - The next Mass will be Satuday, April
25 at St. Louis Church at 5:00 pm. Pizza will be served
following Mass at the Youth Center. Choir practice for
Mass will be Thursday, April 23, from 7-8 pm at the Youth
Center. All are welcome to attend.

PARTNERS IN CHARITY
I would like to express my gratitude to all the parishioners
who generously supported the Diocesan Partners in Charity
Fund. Up to the present time we collected $15,577 which is
short by $4,673 to meet our quota. We owe a special thank
you to the Chairpersons Betty Sabaj and Carolyn Swierzbin
for their efforts and dedication in leading our parish drive.
During these difficult economic times everybody is affected
but more so those who have nothing, have health difficulties

SCHOOL NEWS
SPELLING BEE. On Tuesday, April 14, the students in Grades 7
and 8 competed in the Annual SJS Spelling Bee which is sponsored
annually by the St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club. The Grade 6
students were invited as guests to the event in preparation for their
involvement next year in the competition. The winning words in
crowning this year’s champion were “corduroy” and “enigmatic.”
First Place went to Blair Reilly (Gr.8); Second Place went to Eric
Marsh (Gr. 8); and Third Place went to Alex Gardner (Gr. 7).

FREE THROW STATEWIDE CONTEST sponsored by the
Knights of Columbus was held at Holy Cross College on April 4,
2009. Congratulations to SJS students Megan Scully and Matt
Huberdault for their outstanding results. Matt placed second in the
age 13 group and Megan finished fourth in the age 11 group.

NIEDZIELA MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
Dzisiejsza II Niedziela Wielkanocna jest obchodzona jako Święto
Miłosierdzia Bożego. Zostało ono ustanowione przez Ojca Świętego
Jana Pawła II w 2000 roku, a swoimi początkami sięga objawień,
których dostąpiła św. siostra Faustyna Kowalska, jedna z
największych mistyczek Kościoła, która zmarła w wieku 33 lat w
1938 roku w Krakowie. Pan Jezus powiedział do s. Faustyny:
„Pierwsza niedziela po Wielkanocy ma być świętem Miłosierdzia.
Pragnę, aby to święto było ucieczką i schronieniem dla wszystkich
dusz, a szczególnie dla biednych grzeszników. Wylewam całe morze
łask na dusze, które się zbliżą do źródła Miłosierdzia mojego. Która
dusza przystąpi do spowiedzi i komunii świętej dostąpi zupełnego
odpuszczenia win i kar. W tym dniu otwarte są wszystkie upusty
Boże, przez które płyną łaski” (Dzienniczek s. Faustyny). Zgodnie
ze słowami Pana Jezusa w tym dniu możemy uzyskać wyjątkową
łaskę – zupełnego odpuszczenia win i kar. Taką łaskę otrzymujemy
tylko podczas chrztu świętego. Trzeba być w stanie łaski
uświęcającej (jeżeli potrzeba to należy przystąpić do spowiedzi) i
przyjąć Komunię Świętą.
Z racji tego święta zapraszamy dzisiaj na Godzinę Miłosierdzia,
która rozpocznie się o godz. 3:00 po południu. Przyjdźmy uwielbiać
Boga za Jego Miłosierdzie.
REFLEKSJA PO WIELKANOCY
Święta Wielkanocne, a zwłaszcza Triduum Sacrum poprzedzające
samą Wielkanoc niesie ze sobą niezwykłe bogactwo treści, które
dotykają i poruszają ludzkie serca. Poprzez liturgiczne
nabożeństwa bogate w znaki i symbole oraz prywatne czuwanie i
adorację w naszej bazylice mieliśmy okazję towarzyszyć Jezusowi
w jego cierpieniu, śmierci i zmartwychwstaniu. Po raz kolejny
przeżywaliśmy te wielkie tajemnice naszej wiary i dziękowaliśmy
Jezusowi za dzieło odkupienia i za zbawienie. Jesteśmy wdzięczni
wszystkim, którzy pomogli nam przeżywać te święte dni, przede
wszystkim grupie przygotowującej dekoracje ciemnicy i grobu
Pańskiego oraz wystroju kościoła pod kierunkiem Sylwii Kitka, a
także chórom pod kierunkiem organisty Roberta Wójcika za piękna
oprawę muzyczną.
GOŚĆ Z POLSKI
W następną niedzielę, 26 kwietnia, będziemy gościć w naszej
bazylice niezwykłego Gościa z Polski, Panią Marię Dramińską,
artystkę – śpiewaczkę. Pan Bóg obdarzył ją pięknym głosem, a ona
z radością używa tego daru, aby opowiadać poprzez śpiew o
wielkiej miłości Boga do człowieka. Jej występy to nie tylko
piękny śpiew i recytacje, ale także przejmujące świadectwo wiary.
Występowała niezliczoną ilość razy w kościołach Polski oraz
wśród Polonii rozsianej po całym świecie. Podczas swojego
pierwszego pobytu w USA odwiedza polonijne parafie między
innymi w stanach: Nowy Jork, Illinois, Arizona, Massachusetts.
Pani Maria będzie śpiewała podczas Mszy Św. o godz. 11.00,
natomiast na zakończenie Mszy zaprezentuje misterium pt.
„Maryja Królowa Polski”. Będzie to dla nas okazja do
przygotowania się do uroczystości Matki Bożej Królowej Polski (3
maja). Już teraz zachęcamy do pozostania w kościele, wysłuchania
pięknych śpiewów i recytacji oraz spotkania się z naszym, miłym
Gościem.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
Dziękujemy za wszystkie ofiary złożone do tej pory na diecezjalne
dzieło pomocy zwane: „Partners in charity” czyli „Partnerzy
dobroczynności”. Zebraliśmy dotychczas ponad $15,577, a celem
naszej parafii jest zebranie $20,250. Dlatego prosimy tych, którzy,
chcą jeszcze złożyć swoją ofiarę o uczynienie tego w najbliższym
czasie. Podzielmy się tym, co otrzymujemy od Boga i przyjdźmy
z pomocą potrzebującym. Druga kolekta w następna niedzielę
będzie przeznaczona na ten cel. Niech Pan Bóg hojnie wynagrodzi
każdą złożoną ofiarę.
ZAPISY NA NAUKĘ RELIGII
Zapisy na nowy rok szkolny 2009-2010 odbędą się w biurze nauki
religii w dniu 27 kwietnia 5:00-7:00. Wszyscy uczniowie powinni
się na nowo zapisać. Przy zapisie pobierana jest opłata $30 oraz
$20 za każde następne dziecko.
POMOC DLA DZIECI SZKÓŁ KATOLICKICH
Przypominamy informację dla rodzin, które pragną posłać swoje
dzieci do szkoły katolickiej, ale nie stać ich na opłacenie jej. Mogą
się one ubiegać o znaczną pomoc za pośrednictwem diecezji.
Termin składania wniosków mija 20 kwietnia. Wnioski trzeba
wysyłać drogą elektroniczną na stronie: www.factstuitionaid.com.
Pomocą w wypełnieniu i wysłaniu wniosków służy Ewa Mamro.
